Exodus 8
Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “GoH935 toH413 PharaohH6547 and tell him thatH559H413 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559: ‘Let My peopleH5971 goH7971, so that they may worship MeH5647. 2But ifH518 youH859 refuseH3986 to let them goH7971, IH595 will plagueH5062 your whole countryH3605H1366 with frogsH6854. 3The NileH2975 will teemH8317 with frogsH6854, and they will comeH5927 into your palaceH935H1004 and up to your bedroomH2315H4904 and ontoH5921 your bedH4296, into the housesH1004 of your officialsH5650 and your peopleH5971, and into your ovensH8574 and kneading bowlsH4863. 4The frogsH6854 will come upH5927 on you and your peopleH5971 and allH3605 your officialsH5650.’”
And the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “TellH559H413 AaronH175, ‘Stretch outH5186 your handH3027 with your staffH4294 overH5921 the riversH5104 and canalsH2975H5921 and pondsH98, and cause the frogsH6854H5921 to come up ontoH5927 the landH776 of EgyptH4714.’”
So AaronH175 stretched outH5186 his handH3027 overH5921 the watersH4325 of EgyptH4714, and the frogsH6854 came upH5927 and coveredH3680 the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
But the magiciansH2748 didH6213 the same thingH3651 by their magic artsH3909, and they also brought frogsH6854 upH5927 ontoH5921 the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
PharaohH6547 summonedH7121 MosesH4872 and AaronH175 and saidH559, “PrayH6279 toH413 the LORDH3068 to takeH5493 the frogsH6854 away from meH4480 and my peopleH5971. Then I will let your peopleH5971 goH7971, that they may sacrificeH2076 to the LORDH3068.”
MosesH4872 saidH559 to PharaohH6547, “You may have the honorH6286 over meH5921. WhenH4970 shall I prayH6279 for you and your officialsH5650 and your peopleH5971 that the frogsH6854 (except for thoseH7604H7535 in the NileH2975) may be taken awayH3772 fromH4480 you and your housesH1004?”
“TomorrowH4279,” Pharaoh answeredH559.
“May it be as you sayH1697,” Moses repliedH559, “so thatH4616 you may knowH3045 thatH3588 there is no oneH369 like the LORDH3068 our GodH430. 11The frogsH6854 will departH5493 from youH4480 and your housesH1004 and your officialsH5650 and your peopleH5971; they will remainH7604 onlyH7535 in the NileH2975.”
After MosesH4872 and AaronH175 had leftH3318H5973 PharaohH6547, MosesH4872 cried out toH413 the LORDH3068 for helpH6817 withH1697 the frogsH6854 thatH834 He had broughtH7760 against PharaohH6547. 13And the LORDH3068 didH6213 as MosesH4872 requestedH1697, and the frogsH6854 inH4480 the housesH1004H4480, the courtyardsH2691H4480, and the fieldsH7704 diedH4191. 14They were piledH6651H853 into countless heapsH2563, and there was a terrible stenchH887 in the landH776.
When PharaohH6547H3588 saw thatH7200 there wasH1961 relief, howeverH7309, he hardenedH35131 his heartH3820 and would notH3808 listenH8085 toH413 Moses and Aaron, just asH834 the LORDH3068 had saidH1696.
The Third Plague: Gnats
Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “TellH559H413 AaronH175, ‘Stretch outH5186 your staffH4294 and strikeH5221 the dustH6083 of the earthH776, that it may turn intoH1961 swarms of gnatsH3654 throughoutH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714.’”
This they didH6213H3651, and when AaronH175 stretched outH5186 his handH3027 with his staffH4294 and struckH5221 the dustH6083 of the earthH776, gnatsH3654 came uponH1961 manH120 and beastH929. AllH3605 the dustH6083 of the earthH776 turned intoH1961 gnatsH3654 throughoutH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
The magiciansH2748 triedH6213H3651 to produceH3318 gnatsH3654 using their magic artsH3909, but they couldH3201 notH3808. And the gnatsH3654 remainedH1961 on manH120 and beastH929.
“ThisH1931 is the fingerH676 of GodH430,” the magiciansH2748 saidH559 toH413 PharaohH6547. But Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820 was hardenedH2388,2 and he would notH3808 listenH8085 to themH413, just asH834 the LORDH3068 had saidH1696.
The Fourth Plague: Flies
Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “Get up earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and when PharaohH6547 goes outH2009H3318 to the waterH4325, standH3320 before himH6440 and tell himH559 thatH413 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559: ‘Let My peopleH5971 goH7971, so that they may worship MeH5647. 21ButH3588 ifH518 you will notH369 let My peopleH5971H2005 goH7971, I will sendH7971 swarmsH6157 of flies3 upon you and your officialsH5650 and your peopleH5971 and your housesH1004. The housesH1004 of the EgyptiansH4713 and evenH1571 the groundH127 where theyH1992 stand will be fullH4390 of fliesH6157H5921.
But on thatH1931 dayH3117 I will give special treatmentH6395 to the landH776 of GoshenH1657, whereH834 My peopleH5971 liveH5975H5921; noH1115 swarmsH6157 of flies will beH1961 found thereH8033. In this wayH4616 you will knowH3045 thatH3588 IH589, the LORDH3068, am inH7130 the landH776. 23I will makeH7760 a distinctionH63044 betweenH996 My peopleH5971H996 and your peopleH5971. ThisH2088 signH226 will take placeH1961 tomorrowH4279.’”
And the LORDH3068 didH6213 soH3651. ThickH3515 swarmsH6157 of flies pouredH935 into Pharaoh’sH6547 palaceH1004 and into the housesH1004 of his officialsH5650. ThroughoutH3605 EgyptH4714 the landH776 was ruinedH7843H776 byH6440 swarmsH6157 of flies.
Then PharaohH6547H413 summonedH7121 MosesH4872 and AaronH175 and saidH559, “GoH1980, sacrificeH2076 to your GodH430 within this landH776.”
But MosesH4872 repliedH559, “It would notH3808 be rightH3559 to doH6213 thatH3651, becauseH3588 the sacrifices we offerH2076 to the LORDH3068 our GodH430 would be detestableH8441 to the EgyptiansH4714. IfH2005 we offer sacrificesH2076 that areH853 detestableH8441 beforeH5869 the EgyptiansH4714, will they notH3808 stone usH5619? 27We must makeH1980 a three-dayH7969H3117 journeyH1870 into the wildernessH4057 and sacrificeH2076 to the LORDH3068 our GodH430 asH834 He commands usH559H413.”
PharaohH6547 answeredH559, “IH595 will let you goH7971 and sacrificeH2076 to the LORDH3068 your GodH430 in the wildernessH4057, butH7535 you must notH3808 goH1980 very farH7368. Now prayH6279 for meH1157.”
“As soon as IH595 leave youH3318H5973,” MosesH4872H2009 saidH559, “I will prayH6279 toH413 the LORDH3068, so that tomorrowH4279 the swarmsH6157 of flies will departH5493 from PharaohH6547 and his officialsH5650 and his peopleH5971. ButH7535 PharaohH6547 must notH408 act deceitfullyH2048 againH3254 by refusingH1115 to let the peopleH5971 goH7971 and sacrificeH2076 to the LORDH3068.”
Then MosesH4872H5973 leftH3318 PharaohH6547 and prayedH6279 toH413 the LORDH3068, 31and the LORDH3068 didH6213 as MosesH4872 requestedH1697. He removedH5493 the swarmsH6157 of flies from PharaohH6547 and his officialsH5650 and his peopleH5971; notH3808 oneH259 fly remainedH7604. 32But PharaohH6547 hardenedH3513 his heartH3820 thisH2063 timeH6471 as wellH1571, and he would notH3808 let the peopleH5971 goH7971.
