Exodus 23
1“You shall notH3808 spreadH5375 a falseH7723 reportH8088. Do notH408 joinH7896H3027H5973 the wickedH7563 by beingH1961 a maliciousH2555 witnessH5707.
2You shall notH3808 followH1961H310 the crowdH7227 in wrongdoingH7451. When you testifyH6030 inH5921 a lawsuitH7379, do notH3808 pervert justiceH5186 by sidingH5186 withH310 the crowdH7227. 3And do notH3808 show favoritismH1921 to a poor manH1800 in his lawsuitH7379.
4IfH3588 you encounterH6293 your enemy’sH341 strayH8582 oxH7794 orH176 donkeyH2543, you must return itH7725 to him.
5IfH3588 you seeH7200 the donkeyH2543 of one who hates youH8130 fallenH7257 underH8478 its loadH4853, do notH2308 leaveH5800 it there; you must help himH5800 with itH5973.
6You shall notH3808 denyH5186 justiceH4941 to the poorH34 in their lawsuitsH7379. 7Stay far awayH7368 from a falseH8267 accusationH1697. Do notH408 killH2026 the innocentH5355 or the justH6662, forH3588 I will notH3808 acquitH6663 the guiltyH7563.
8Do notH3808 acceptH3947 a bribeH7810, forH3588 a bribeH7810 blindsH5786 those who seeH6493 and twistsH5557 the wordsH1697 of the righteousH6662.
9Do notH3808 oppressH3905 a foreign residentH1616, since youH859 yourselves knowH3045 how it feels to be foreignersH1616; forH3588 you wereH1961 foreignersH1616 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
Sabbath Laws
(Leviticus 25:1–7; Deuteronomy 15:1–6)
10For sixH8337 yearsH8141 you are to sowH2232 your landH776 and gatherH622 its produceH8393, 11but in the seventhH7637 year you must let it restH8058 and lie fallowH5203, so that the poorH34 among your peopleH5971 may eatH398 from the fieldH7704 and the wild animalsH2416 may consumeH398 what they leaveH3499. DoH6213 the sameH3651 with your vineyardH3754 and olive groveH2132.
12For sixH8337 daysH3117 you are to doH6213 your workH4639, but on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 you must ceaseH7673, so thatH4616 your oxH7794 and your donkeyH2543 may restH5117 and the sonH1121 of your maidservantH519 may be refreshedH5314, as well as the foreign residentH1616.
13Pay close attentionH8104 to everythingH3605 I have saidH559 to youH413. You must notH3808 invokeH2142 the namesH8034 of otherH312 godsH430; they must notH3808 be heardH8085 onH5921 your lipsH6310.
The Three Feasts of Pilgrimage
(Leviticus 23:1–3)
14ThreeH7969 timesH7272 a yearH8141 you are to celebrate a feastH2287 to Me.
You are to keepH8104 the FeastH2282 of Unleavened BreadH46821 asH834 I commanded youH6680: At the appointed timeH4150 in the monthH2320 of AbibH242 you are to eatH398 unleavened breadH4682 for sevenH7651 daysH3117, becauseH3588 that was the month you came outH3318 of EgyptH4714. No oneH3808 may appearH7200 before MeH6440 empty-handedH7387.
16You are also to keep the FeastH2282 of HarvestH71053 with the firstfruitsH1061 of the produceH4639 from whatH834 you sowH2232 in the fieldH7704.
And keep the FeastH2282 of IngatheringH6144 at the endH3318 of the yearH8141, when you gatherH622 your produceH4639 fromH4480 the fieldH7704.
17ThreeH7969 timesH6471 a yearH8141 allH3605 your malesH2138 are to appearH7200 beforeH413H6440 the LordH113 GODH3068.
18You must notH3808 offerH2076 the bloodH1818 of My sacrificesH2077 withH5921 anything leavenedH2557, nor mayH3808 the fatH2459 of My feastH2282 remainH3885 untilH5704 morningH1242.
19BringH935 the bestH7225 of the firstfruitsH1061 of your soilH127 to the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430.
You must notH3808 cookH1310 a young goatH1423 in its mother’sH517 milkH2461.
God’s Angel to Lead
(Deuteronomy 7:12–26)
20BeholdH2009, IH595 am sendingH7971 an angelH4397 before youH6440 to protect youH8104 along the wayH1870 and to bring youH935 toH413 the placeH4725 I have preparedH3559. 21Pay attentionH8104 to himH6440 and listenH8085 to his voiceH6963; do notH408 defyH4843 him, forH3588 he will notH3808 forgiveH5375 rebellionH6588, sinceH3588 My NameH8034 is in himH7130.
22ButH3588 ifH518 you will listen carefullyH8085 to his voiceH6963 and doH6213 everythingH3605 I sayH1696, I will be an enemyH341 to your enemiesH340 and a foeH6696 to your foesH6887. 23ForH3588 My angelH4397 will goH1980 before youH6440 and bring youH935 intoH413 the land of the AmoritesH567, HittitesH2850, PerizzitesH6522, CanaanitesH3669, HivitesH2340, and JebusitesH2983, and I will annihilate themH3582.
24You must notH3808 bow downH7812 to their godsH430 or serve themH5647H3808 orH3808 followH6213 their practicesH4639. InsteadH3588, you are to demolish themH2040 and smash their sacred stonesH4676 to piecesH7665.
25So you shall serveH5647 the LORDH3068 your GodH430, and He will blessH12885 your breadH3899 andH853 your waterH4325. And I will take awayH5493 sicknessH4245 from among youH7130. 26NoH3808 woman in your landH776H1961 will miscarryH7921 or be barrenH6135; I will fulfillH4390 the numberH4557 of your daysH3117.
I will sendH7971 My terrorH367 ahead of youH6440 and throw into confusionH2000 everyH3605 nationH5971 you encounterH935. I will make allH3605 your enemiesH341 turnH5414 and runH413H6203. 28I will sendH7971 the hornetH6880 before youH6440 to driveH1644 the HivitesH2340 and CanaanitesH3669 and HittitesH2850 out of your wayH6440.
29I will notH3808 drive them outH1644 before youH6440 in a singleH259 yearH8141; otherwiseH6435 the landH776 would becomeH1961 desolateH8077 and wildH7704 animalsH2416 would multiplyH7231 against youH5921. 30LittleH4592 by littleH4592 I will drive them outH1644 ahead of youH6440, untilH5704 you become fruitfulH6509 and possessH5157 the landH776.
31And I will establishH7896 your bordersH1366 from the RedH5488 SeaH32206 toH5704 the SeaH3220 of the PhilistinesH6430, and from the desertH4057 toH5704 theH5104 Euphrates.7 ForH3588 I will deliverH5414 the inhabitantsH3427H776 into your handH3027, and you will drive them outH1644 before youH6440. 32You shall makeH3772 noH3808 covenantH1285 with them or with their godsH430. 33They must notH3808 remainH3427 in your landH776, lestH6435 they cause you to sinH2398 against Me. ForH3588 if you serveH5647 their godsH430, it will surelyH3588 beH1961 a snareH4170 to you.”
