Exodus 10

Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “GoH935 toH413 PharaohH6547, forH3588 IH589 have hardenedH35131 his heartH3820 and the heartsH3820 of his officialsH5650, thatH4616 I may performH7896 theseH428 miraculous signs of MineH226 among themH7130, 2and thatH4616 you may tellH5608H241 your childrenH1121 and grandchildrenH1121 howH834 severely I dealtH5953 with the EgyptiansH4714 when I performedH7760 miraculous signsH226 among them, so that all of you may knowH3045 thatH3588 IH589 am the LORDH3068.”

So MosesH4872 and AaronH175 wentH935 toH413 PharaohH6547 and toldH559 himH413, “This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of the HebrewsH5680, saysH559: ‘How longH5704H4970 will you refuseH3985 to humble yourselfH6031 before MeH6440? Let My peopleH5971 goH7971, so that they may worship MeH5647. 4ButH3588 ifH518 youH859 refuseH3986 to let My peopleH5971H2005 goH7971, I will bringH935 locustsH697 into your territoryH1366 tomorrowH4279. 5They will coverH3680 the faceH5869 of the landH776 so that noH3808 one canH3201 seeH7200 it. They will devourH398 whatever isH3499 leftH7604 afterH6413 the hailH1259 and eatH398 everyH3605 treeH6086 that growsH6779 in yourH4480 fieldsH7704. 6They will fillH4390 your housesH1004 and the housesH1004 of allH3605 your officialsH5650 andH1004 everyH3605 EgyptianH4713—somethingH834 neitherH3808 your fathersH1 nor your grandfathersH1 have seenH7200 since the dayH3117 they came intoH1961H5921 this landH127H5704H3117H2088.’”

Then Moses turnedH6437 and leftH3318H5973 Pharaoh’s presenceH6547.

Pharaoh’sH6547H413 officialsH5650 asked himH559, “How longH5704H4970 will thisH2088 man beH1961 a snareH4170 to us? Let the peopleH582 goH7971, so that they may worshipH5647 the LORDH3068 their GodH430. Do you not yet realizeH3045H2962 thatH3588 EgyptH4714 lies in ruinsH6?”

So MosesH4872 and AaronH175 were brought backH7725 toH413 PharaohH6547. “GoH1980, worshipH5647 the LORDH3068 your GodH430,” he saidH559H413. “But who exactlyH4310 will be goingH1980?”

“We will goH1980 with our youngH5288 and oldH2205,” MosesH4872 repliedH559. “We will goH1980 with our sonsH1121 and daughtersH1323, and with our flocksH6629 and herdsH1241, forH3588 we must hold a feastH2282 to the LORDH3068.”

ThenH559 Pharaoh told themH413, “May the LORDH3068H3651 beH1961 with youH5973 if I everH834 let you goH7971 with your little onesH2945. ClearlyH7200H3588 you are bentH5048H6440 on evilH7451. 11NoH3808H3651, only the menH1397 may goH1980H4994 and worshipH5647 the LORDH3068, sinceH3588 that is what youH859 have been requestingH1245.” And Moses and Aaron were drivenH1644 fromH854 Pharaoh’sH6547 presenceH6440.

Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “Stretch outH5186 your handH3027 overH5921 the landH776 of EgyptH4714, so that the locustsH697 may swarmH5927 overH5921 itH776H4714 and devourH398 everyH3605 plantH6212 in the landH776—everythingH3605 thatH834 the hailH1259 has left behindH7604.”

So MosesH4872 stretched outH5186 his staffH4294 overH5921 the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and throughoutH3605 thatH1931H3605 dayH3117 and nightH3915 the LORDH3068 sentH5090 an eastH6921 windH7307 across the landH776. By morningH1242H1961 the eastH6921 windH7307 had broughtH5375 the locustsH697.

The locustsH697 swarmedH5927 acrossH5921H3605 the landH776 and settledH5117 over the entireH3605 territoryH1366 of EgyptH4714. NeverH3808 beforeH6440 had there beenH1961 soH3651 manyH3515H3966 locustsH697H3644H310, and neverH3808 again will there beH1961H3651. 15They coveredH3680 the faceH5869 of allH3605 the landH776 untilH776 it was blackH2821, and they consumedH398 allH3605 the plantsH6212 on the groundH776 and allH3605 the fruitH6529 on the treesH6086 thatH834 the hailH1259 had left behindH3498. NothingH3808H3605 greenH3418 was leftH3498 on any treeH6086 or plantH6212H7704 in allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714.

PharaohH6547 quicklyH4116 summonedH7121 MosesH4872 and AaronH175 and saidH559, “I have sinnedH2398 against the LORDH3068 your GodH430 and against you. 17NowH6258 pleaseH4994 forgiveH5375 my sinH2403 once moreH389H6471 and appealH6279 to the LORDH3068 your GodH430, that He may removeH5493 thisH2088 deathH4194 from meH5921H7535.”

So Moses leftH3318H5973 Pharaoh’sH6547 presence and appealedH6279 toH413 the LORDH3068. 19And the LORDH3068 changed the windH2015 to a very strongH2389H3966 westH3220 windH7307 that carried offH5375 the locustsH697 and blew themH8628 into the RedH5488 SeaH3220.2 NotH3808 a singleH259 locustH697 remainedH7604 anywhereH3605 inH1366 EgyptH4714.

But the LORDH3068 hardenedH23883 Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820, and he would notH3808 let the IsraelitesH1121H3478 goH7971.

The Ninth Plague: Darkness

Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “Stretch outH5186 your handH3027 towardH5921 heavenH8064, so that darknessH2822 may spreadH1961 overH5921 the landH776 of EgyptH4714—a palpableH4959 darknessH2822.”

So MosesH4872 stretched outH5186 his handH3027 towardH5921 heavenH8064, and totalH653 darknessH2822 coveredH1961 allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714 for threeH7969 daysH3117. 23NoH3808 oneH376 could seeH7200 anyone elseH251, and for threeH7969 daysH3117 no oneH3808 leftH6965H376 his placeH8478. Yet allH3605 the IsraelitesH1121H3478 hadH1961 lightH216 in their dwellingsH4186.

Then PharaohH6547H413 summonedH7121 MosesH4872 and saidH559, “GoH1980, worshipH5647 the LORDH3068. EvenH1571 your little onesH2945 may goH1980 with youH5973; onlyH7535 your flocksH6629 and herdsH1241 must stay behindH3322.”

But MosesH4872 repliedH559, “YouH859 must alsoH1571 provide usH5414 withH3027 sacrificesH2077 and burnt offeringsH5930 to presentH6213 to the LORDH3068 our GodH430. 26EvenH1571 our livestockH4735 must goH1980 with usH5973; notH3808 a hoofH6541 will be left behindH7604, forH3588 we will needH3947 some of themH4480 to worshipH5647 the LORDH3068 our GodH430, and we willH587 notH3808 knowH3045 howH4100 we are to worshipH5647 the LORDH3068 untilH5704 we arriveH935H8033.”

But the LORDH3068 hardenedH2388 Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820, and he was unwillingH3808H14 to let them goH7971. 28“DepartH1980 from meH5921!” PharaohH6547 saidH559 to Moses. “Make sureH8104 you neverH413 seeH7200 my faceH6440 againH3254, forH3588 on the dayH3117 you seeH7200 my faceH6440, you will dieH4191.”

“AsH3651 you sayH1696,” MosesH4872 repliedH559, “I will neverH3808 seeH7200 your faceH6440 againH3254H5750.”
