Exodus 9

Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “GoH935 toH413 PharaohH6547 and tell himH1696 thatH413 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of the HebrewsH5680, saysH559: ‘Let My peopleH5971 goH7971, so that they may worship MeH5647. 2ButH3588 ifH518 youH859 continueH5750 to restrainH2388 them and refuseH3986 to let them goH7971, 3thenH2009 the handH3027 of the LORDH3068 will bringH1961 a severeH3515H3966 plagueH1698 on your livestockH4735 in the fieldH7704—on your horsesH5483, donkeysH2543, camelsH1581, herdsH1241, and flocksH6629. 4But the LORDH3068 will make a distinctionH6395 betweenH996 the livestockH4735 of IsraelH3478H996 and the livestockH4735 of EgyptH4714, so that noH3808H1697 animal belonging toH3605 the IsraelitesH1121H3478 will dieH4191.’”

The LORDH3068 setH7760 a timeH4150, sayingH559, “TomorrowH4279 the LORDH3068 will doH6213 thisH2088H1697 in the landH776.” 6And the next dayH4283 the LORDH3068 didH6213 just thatH2088. AllH3605 the livestockH4735 of the EgyptiansH4713 diedH4191, but notH3808 oneH259 animalH4735 belonging to the IsraelitesH1121H3478 diedH4191. 7PharaohH6547 sent officialsH7971 and found thatH2009 noneH3808H259 of the livestockH4735 of the IsraelitesH3478H5704 had diedH4191. But Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820 was hardenedH3513,1 and he would notH3808 let the peopleH5971 goH7971.

The Sixth Plague: Boils

Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872H413 and AaronH175, “TakeH3947 handfulsH4393H2651 of sootH6368 from the furnaceH3536; in the sightH5869 of PharaohH6547, MosesH4872 is to toss itH2236 into the airH8064. 9It will becomeH1961 fine dustH80 overH5921 all theH3605 landH776 of EgyptH4714, andH1961 festeringH76 boilsH7822 will break outH6524 onH5921 manH120H5921 and beastH929 throughoutH3605 the landH776H4714.”

So they tookH3947 sootH6368 from the furnaceH3536 and stoodH5975 beforeH6440 PharaohH6547. MosesH4872 tossedH2236 itH853 into the airH8064, andH1961 festeringH76 boilsH7822 broke outH6524 on manH120 and beastH929. 11The magiciansH2748 couldH3201 notH3808 standH5975 beforeH6440 MosesH4872, becauseH6440 the boilsH7822 had broken outH1961 onH2748 them and on allH3605 the EgyptiansH4713.

But the LORDH3068 hardenedH23882 Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820, and he would notH3808 listenH8085 to themH413, just asH834 the LORDH3068H413 had saidH1696 to MosesH4872.

The Seventh Plague: Hail

Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “Get up earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, standH3320 beforeH6440 PharaohH6547, and tell himH559 thatH413 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of the HebrewsH5680, saysH559: ‘Let My peopleH5971 goH7971, so that they may worship MeH5647. 14OtherwiseH3588H6471H2063, IH589 will sendH7971 allH3605 My plaguesH4046 againstH413 youH38203 and your officialsH5650 and your peopleH5971, soH5668 you may knowH3045 thatH3588 there is no oneH369 like MeH3644 in allH3605 the earthH776.

ForH3588 by this timeH6258 I could have stretched outH7971 My handH3027 and struckH5221 youH853 andH853 your peopleH5971 with a plagueH1698 to wipe youH3582 offH4480 the earthH776. 16ButH199 I have raised you upH59754 for this very purposeH2063H5668, thatH5668 I might displayH7200 My powerH3581 to youH853,5 and thatH4616 My nameH8034 might be proclaimedH5608 in allH3605 the earthH776.6 17StillH5750, you lord itH5549 over My peopleH5971 and do notH1115 allow them to goH7971.

BeholdH2005, at this timeH6256 tomorrowH4279 I will rain downH4305 the worstH3515H3966 hailH1259 thatH834 has everH3808 fallenH1961H3644 on EgyptH4714, fromH4480 the dayH3117 it was foundedH3245 untilH5704 nowH6258. 19SoH6258 give orders nowH7971 to shelterH5756 your livestockH4735 and everythingH3605 you have in the fieldH7704. EveryH3605 manH120 or beastH929 thatH834 remainsH4672 in the fieldH7704 and is notH3808 broughtH622 insideH1004 will dieH4191 when the hailH1259 comes downH3381 upon themH5921.’”

Those among Pharaoh’sH6547 officialsH5650 who fearedH3373 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 hurried to bringH5127 their servantsH5650 and livestockH4735 toH413 shelterH1004, 21but those whoH834 disregardedH3808H7760 the wordH1697H3820 of the LORDH3068H413 leftH5800 their servantsH5650 and livestockH4735 in the fieldH7704.

Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “Stretch outH5186 your handH3027 towardH5921 heavenH8064, so that hailH1259 may fallH1961 on allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714—onH5921 manH120H5921 and beastH929H5921 and everyH3605 plantH6212 of the fieldH7704 throughout the landH776 of EgyptH4714.”

So MosesH4872 stretched outH5186 his staffH4294 towardH5921 heavenH8064, and the LORDH3068 sentH5414 thunderH6963 and hailH1259, and lightningH784 struckH1980 the earthH776. So the LORDH3068 rained downH4305 hailH1259 uponH5921 the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 24The hailH1259 fellH1961 and the lightningH784 continued flashingH3947 through itH8432. The hailH1259 was soH3966 severeH3515 thatH834 nothingH3808 like itH3644 had ever beenH1961 seen in allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714 from the timeH227 it becameH1961 a nationH1471.

ThroughoutH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714, the hailH1259 struck downH5221 everythingH3605 in the fieldH7704, both manH120 andH5704 beastH929; it beat downH5221 everyH3605 plantH6212 of the fieldH7704 and strippedH7665 everyH3605 treeH6086H7704. 26The onlyH7535 place where it did notH3808 hailH1259 wasH1961 in the landH776 of GoshenH1657, whereH834 the IsraelitesH1121H3478 lived.

Then PharaohH6547 summonedH7971H7121 MosesH4872 and AaronH175. “This timeH6471 I have sinnedH2398,” he saidH559H413. “The LORDH3068 is righteousH6662, and IH589 and my peopleH5971 are wickedH7563. 28PrayH6279 toH413 the LORDH3068, for there has beenH1961 enoughH7227 of God’sH430 thunderH6963 and hailH1259. I will let you goH7971; you do notH3808 need to stayH5975 any longerH3254.”

MosesH4872 saidH559 to himH413, “When I have leftH3318 the cityH5892, I will spread outH6566 my handsH3709 toH413 the LORDH3068. The thunderH6963 will ceaseH2308, and there will beH1961 noH3808 moreH5750 hailH1259, so thatH4616 you may knowH3045 thatH3588 the earthH776 is the LORD’sH3068. 30But as for youH859 and your officialsH5650, I knowH3045 thatH3588 you still do notH2962 fearH3372H6440 the LORDH3068 our GodH430.”

(Now the flaxH6594 and barleyH8184 were destroyedH5221, sinceH3588 the barleyH8184H24 was ripe and the flaxH6594 was in bloomH1392; 32but the wheatH2406 and speltH3698 were notH3808 destroyedH5221, becauseH3588 theyH2007 are late cropsH648.)

Then MosesH4872 departedH3318 fromH5973 PharaohH6547, went out of the cityH5892, and spread outH6566 his handsH3709 toH413 the LORDH3068. The thunderH6963 and hailH1259 ceasedH2308, and the rainH4306 no longerH3808 poured downH5413 on the landH776.

When PharaohH6547 sawH7200 thatH3588 the rainH4306 and hailH1259 and thunderH6963 had ceasedH2308, he sinnedH2398 againH3254 and hardenedH3513 his heartH3820—heH1931 and his officialsH5650. 35So Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820 was hardenedH2388, and he would notH3808 let the IsraelitesH1121H3478 goH7971, just asH834 the LORDH3068 had saidH1696 throughH3027 MosesH4872.
