Exodus 11

The Plague on the Firstborn Foretold

1Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “I will bringH935 uponH5921 PharaohH6547 andH5921 EgyptH4714 oneH259 moreH5750 plagueH5061. AfterH310 thatH3651, he will allow you to leaveH7971 this placeH2088. And when he lets you goH7971, he will drive you outH1644 completelyH3617. 2NowH4994H241 announceH1696 to the peopleH5971 that menH376H854H7453 and women alikeH802 should askH7592H854 their neighborsH7468 for articlesH3627 of silverH3701H3627 and goldH2091.”

3And the LORDH3068 gaveH5414 the peopleH5971 favorH2580 in the sightH5869 of the EgyptiansH4713. MoreoverH1571, MosesH4872 himselfH376 was highlyH3966 regardedH1419 in EgyptH4714 byH5869 Pharaoh’sH6547H5869 officialsH5650 and by the peopleH5971.

4So MosesH4872 declaredH559, “This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559: ‘About midnightH2676H3915 IH589 will goH3318 throughoutH8432 EgyptH4714, 5and everyH3605 firstborn sonH1060 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 will dieH4191, from the firstbornH1060 of PharaohH6547 who sitsH3427 onH5921 his throneH3678, toH5704 the firstbornH1060 of the servant girlH8198 behindH310 the hand millH7347, as well as the firstbornH1060 of allH3605 the cattleH929. 6Then a greatH1419 cryH6818 will go outH1961 over allH3605 the landH776 of EgyptH4714. SuchH834 an outcry has neverH3808 been heard beforeH1961 and will neverH3808 be heard againH3254. 7But among allH3605 the IsraelitesH1121H3478, notH3808 even a dogH3611H3956 will snarlH2782 at manH376H5704 or beastH929.’1

ThenH4616 you will knowH3045 thatH834 the LORDH3068 makes a distinctionH6395 betweenH996 EgyptH4714H996 and IsraelH3478. 8And allH3605 theseH428 officialsH5650 of yours will comeH3381 and bowH7812 before me, sayingH559, ‘GoH3318, youH859 and allH3605 the peopleH5971 whoH834 follow youH7272!’ AfterH310 thatH3651, I will departH3318.”

And hotH2750 with angerH639, Moses leftH3318 Pharaoh’sH6547 presenceH5973.

9The LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “PharaohH6547 will notH3808 listenH8085 to youH413, so thatH4616 My wondersH4159 may be multipliedH7235 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714.”

10MosesH4872 and AaronH175 didH6213 allH3605 theseH428 wondersH4159 beforeH6440 PharaohH6547, but the LORDH3068 hardenedH23882 Pharaoh’sH6547 heartH3820 so that he would notH3808 let the IsraelitesH1121H3478 go outH7971 of his landH776.
