1Then the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֥רvay.da.BerH1696to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֥הmo.ShehH4872,sayingלֵּאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

2“Takeנְקֹ֗םne.KomH5358vengeanceנִקְמַת֙nik.MatH5360on the Midianitesהַמִּדְיָנִ֑יםha.mid.ya.NimH4084for the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478;afterwardאַחַ֖ר'a.CharH310you will begatheredתֵּאָסֵ֥ףte.'a.SefH622to your peopleעַמֶּֽיךָ׃'a.Mei.khaH5971.”

3So Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֤רvay.da.BerH1696to the peopleהָעָ֣םha.'AmH5971,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Armהֵחָלְצ֧וּhe.chal.TzuH2502menH376from amongמֵאִתְּכֶ֛םme.'i.te.KhemH854you for the warלַצָּבָ֑אla.tza.Va'H6635, so that they maygoוְיִהְיוּ֙ve.yih.YuH1961againstעַל־'al-H5921Midianמִדְיָ֔ןmid.YanH4080to executeלָתֵ֥תla.TetH5414the Lord’sיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068vengeanceנִקְמַת־nik.mat-H5360on Midianבְּמִדְיָֽן׃be.mid.YanH4080.

4You shall sendתִּשְׁלְח֖וּtish.le.ChuH7971a thousandH505from each tribeH4294of allלְכֹל֙le.KholH3605the tribesH4294of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478to the warלַצָּבָֽא׃la.tza.Va'H6635.”

5So there were selectedוַיִּמָּֽסְרוּ֙vai.yi.ma.se.RuH4560from the thousandsמֵאַלְפֵ֣יme.'al.FeiH505of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,a thousandאֶ֖לֶף'E.lefH505from each tribeלַמַּטֶּ֑הla.ma.TehH4294,twelveשְׁנֵים־ עָשָׂ֥רshe.neim- 'a.SarH8147 H6240thousandאֶ֖לֶף'E.lefH505armedחֲלוּצֵ֥יcha.lu.TzeiH2502for warצָבָֽא׃tza.Va'H6635.

6And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֛הmo.ShehH4872sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֨חvai.yish.LachH7971them, a thousandאֶ֥לֶף'E.lefH505from each tribeלַמַּטֶּ֖הla.ma.TehH4294,to the warלַצָּבָ֑אla.tza.Va'H6635,and Phinehasפִּ֨ינְחָ֜סpin.ChasH6372the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Eleazarאֶלְעָזָ֤ר'el.'a.ZarH499the priestהַכֹּהֵן֙ha.ko.HenH3548,to the warלַצָּבָ֔אla.tza.Va'H6635with them,and the holyהַקֹּ֛דֶשׁha.Ko.deshH6944implementsוּכְלֵ֥יu.khe.LeiH3627andthe trumpetsוַחֲצֹצְר֥וֹתva.cha.tzo.tze.RotH2689for the alarmהַתְּרוּעָ֖הha.te.ru.'AhH8643in his handבְּיָדֽוֹ׃be.ya.DoH3027.

7So they madeH6633warוַֽיִּצְבְּאוּ֙vai.yitz.be.'UH6633againstעַל־'al-H5921Midianמִדְיָ֔ןmid.YanH4080,justH3512asH3512the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068had commandedצִוָּ֥הtzi.VahH6680Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872, andthey killedוַיַּֽהַרְג֖וּvai.ya.har.GuH2026everyכָּל־kol-H3605maleזָכָֽר׃za.KharH2145.

8They killedהָרְג֣וּha.re.GuH2026the kingsמַלְכֵ֨יmal.KheiH4428of Midianמִדְיָ֜ןmid.YanH4080alongH5921withH5921the rest ofthose killedחַלְלֵיהֶ֗םcha.lei.HemH2491:Eviאֱוִ֤י'e.ViH189,Rekemרֶ֙קֶם֙re.kemH7552,Zurצ֤וּרtzurH6698,Hurחוּר֙churH2354,and Rebaרֶ֔בַעRe.va'H7254,the fiveחֲמֵ֖שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsמַלְכֵ֣יmal.KheiH4428of Midianמִדְיָ֑ןmid.YanH4080.They also killedהָרְג֖וּha.re.GuH2026Balaamבִּלְעָ֣םbil.'AmH1109the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Beorבְּע֔וֹרbe.'orH1160with the swordבֶּחָֽרֶב׃be.Cha.revH2719.

9And the sonsבְנֵי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֛לYis.ra.'ElH3478tookH7617captiveוַיִּשְׁבּ֧וּvai.yish.BuH7617the womenנְשֵׁ֥יne.SheiH802of Midianמִדְיָ֖ןmid.YanH4080and their littleטַפָּ֑םta.PamH2945onesH2945;and they plunderedבָּזָֽזוּ׃ba.Za.zuH962allכָּל־kol-H3605their cattleבְּהֶמְתָּ֧םbe.hem.TamH929,allכָּל־kol-H3605their flocksמִקְנֵהֶ֛םmik.ne.HemH4735,and allכָּל־kol-H3605their propertyחֵילָ֖םchei.LamH2428.

10Then theyburnedשָׂרְפ֖וּsa.re.FuH8313allכָּל־kol-H3605their citiesעָרֵיהֶם֙'a.rei.HemH5892whereH4186they livedH4186and allכָּל־kol-H3605their encampmentsטִֽירֹתָ֑םti.ro.TamH2918.

11Andthey tookוַיִּקְחוּ֙vai.yik.ChuH3947allכָּל־kol-H3605the plunderהַשָּׁלָ֔לha.sha.LalH7998and allכָּל־kol-H3605the spoilsהַמַּלְק֑וֹחַha.mal.Ko.achH4455,both of peopleבָּאָדָ֖םba.'a.DamH120and of livestockוּבַבְּהֵמָֽה׃u.va.be.he.MahH929.

12They broughtוַיָּבִ֡אוּvai.ya.Vi.'uH935the captivesהַשְּׁבִ֧יha.she.ViH7628and the spoilsהַמַּלְק֛וֹחַha.mal.Ko.achH4455and the plunderהַשָּׁלָ֖לha.sha.LalH7998to Mosesמֹשֶׁה֩mo.ShehH4872,to Eleazarאֶלְעָזָ֨ר'el.'a.ZarH499the priestהַכֹּהֵ֜ןha.ko.HenH3548,and to the congregationעֲדַ֣ת'a.DatH5712of the sonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,to the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑הha.ma.cha.NehH4264at the plainsעַֽרְבֹ֣ת'ar.VotH6160of Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124whichאֲשֶׁ֖ר'a.SherH834are by the Jordanיַרְדֵּ֥ןyar.DenH3383, oppositeJerichoיְרֵחֽוֹ׃ סye.re.ChoH3405.

13And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֨הmo.ShehH4872,Eleazarוְאֶלְעָזָ֧רve.'el.'a.ZarH499the priestהַכֹּהֵ֛ןha.ko.HenH3548,and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the leadersנְשִׂיאֵ֥יne.si.'EiH5387of the congregationהָעֵדָ֖הha.'e.DahH5712wentH3318outH3318to meetלִקְרָאתָ֑םlik.ra.TamH7122them outsideאֶל־ מִח֖וּץ'el- mi.ChutzH413 H4480 H2351the campלַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃La.ma.cha.NehH4264.

14But Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872wasH7107angryוַיִּקְצֹ֣ףvai.yik.TzofH7107with the officersפְּקוּדֵ֣יpe.ku.DeiH6485of the armyהֶחָ֑יִלhe.Cha.yilH2428,the commandersשָׂרֵ֤יsa.ReiH8269of thousandsהָאֲלָפִים֙ha.'a.la.FimH505and the commandersוְשָׂרֵ֣יve.sa.ReiH8269of hundredsהַמֵּא֔וֹתha.me.'otH3967,who had comeהַבָּאִ֖יםha.ba.'ImH935from serviceמִצְּבָ֥אmi.tze.Va'H6635in the warהַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ha.mil.cha.MahH4421.

15And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Have yousparedהַֽחִיִּיתֶ֖םha.chi.yi.TemH2421allכָּל־kol-H3605the womenנְקֵבָֽה׃ne.ke.VahH5347?

16Beholdהֵ֣ןhenH2005,they causedH1961the sonsלִבְנֵ֤יliv.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478, through thecounselבִּדְבַ֣רbid.VarH1697ofBalaamבִּלְעָ֔םbil.'AmH1109,to be unfaithfulמַ֥עַלMa.'alH4604to the Lordבַּיהוָ֖הba.Yah.wehH3068in the matterדְּבַר־de.var-H1697of Peorפְּע֑וֹרpe.'orH6465,so that the plagueהַמַּגֵּפָ֖הha.ma.ge.FahH4046tookH1961placeH1961among the congregationבַּעֲדַ֥תba.'a.DatH5712of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068!

17Nowוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258therefore, killהִרְג֥וּhir.GuH2026everyכָל־khol-H3605maleזָכָ֖רza.KharH2145among the littleבַּטָּ֑ףba.TafH2945onesH2945,and killהֲרֹֽגוּ׃ha.Ro.guH2026everyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605womanאִשָּׁ֗ה'i.ShahH802who has knownיֹדַ֥עַתyo.Da.'atH3045a manאִ֛ישׁ'ishH376intimatelyלְמִשְׁכַּ֥ב זָכָ֖רle.mish.Kav za.KharH4904 H2145.

18However, allוְכֹל֙ve.KholH3605thegirlsהַטַּ֣ף בַּנָּשִׁ֔יםha.Taf ba.na.ShimH2945 H802whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834have not knownיָדְע֖וּya.de.'UH3045amanH2145intimatelyמִשְׁכַּ֣בmish.KavH4904 H2145,keepH2421aliveהַחֲי֖וּha.cha.YuH2421for yourselves.

20And you shall purifyתִּתְחַטָּֽאוּ׃ סtit.cha.Ta.'uH2398for yourselves everyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605garmentבֶּ֧גֶדBe.gedH899,everyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605articleכְּלִי־ke.li-H3627of leatherע֛וֹרorH5785,everyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605workמַעֲשֵׂ֥הma.'a.SehH4639of goats’עִזִּ֖ים'i.ZimH5795hair,and everyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605articleכְּלִי־ke.li-H3627of woodעֵ֑ץ'EtzH6086.”
