2“Speakדַּבֵּ֣ר׀da.BerH1696to the sonsH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and obtainוְקַ֣חve.KachH3947from them a staffH4294for each father’sאָ֜ב'avH1householdלְבֵ֨יתle.VeitH1004:twelveשְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖רshe.Neim 'a.SarH8147 H6240staffsH4294,from allכָּל־kol-H3605their leadersנְשִֽׂיאֵהֶם֙ne.si.'e.HemH5387for their fathers’אֲבֹתָ֔ם'a.vo.TamH1householdsלְבֵ֣יתle.VeitH1004.You shall writeתִּכְתֹּ֖בtikh.ToH3789eachH376man’sH376nameשְׁמ֔וֹshe.MoH8034on his staffH4294,

3and writeתִּכְתֹּ֖בtikh.ToH3789Aaron’sאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175nameשֵׁ֣םshemH8034on the staffמַטֵּ֣הma.TehH4294of Leviלֵוִ֑יle.ViH3878; for there is to beoneאֶחָ֔ד'e.ChadH259staffמַטֶּ֣הma.TehH4294for the headלְרֹ֖אשׁle.RoshH7218of eachof their fathers’אֲבוֹתָֽם׃'a.vo.TamH1householdsבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004.

4You shall then leaveוְהִנַּחְתָּ֖םve.hi.nach.TamH5117them in the tentבְּאֹ֣הֶלbe.'O.helH168of meetingמוֹעֵ֑דmo.'EdH4150in frontלִפְנֵי֙lif.NeiH6440ofthe testimonyהָֽעֵד֔וּתha.'e.DutH5715,whereשָֽׁמָּה׃Sha.mahH834 H8033I meetאִוָּעֵ֥ד'i.va.'EdH3259with you.

5And it will comeוְהָיָ֗הve.ha.YahH1961aboutH1961that the staffמַטֵּ֣הוּma.Te.huH4294ofthe manH376whomH834I chooseאֶבְחַר־'ev.char-H977will sproutיִפְרָ֑חyif.RachH6524.So I will relieveוַהֲשִׁכֹּתִ֣יva.ha.shi.ko.TiH7918Myself of the grumblingsתְּלֻנּוֹת֙te.lu.nOtH8519of the sonsH1121of IsraelH3478,whoH834are grumblingמַלִּינִ֖םma.li.NimH3885againstH5921you.”

6So MosesH4872spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֨רvay.da.BerH1696to the sonsH1121of IsraelH3478,and allH3605their leadersH5387gaveוַיִּתְּנ֣וּvai.yi.te.NuH5414him a staffH4294,oneאֶחָ֜ד'e.ChadH259for eachאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259leaderH5387,for their fathers’אֲבֹתָ֔ם'a.vo.TamH1householdsלְבֵ֣יתle.VeitH1004,twelveשְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖רshe.Neim 'a.SarH8147 H6240staffsH4294in all,with the staffH4294of AaronH175amongבְּת֥וֹךְbe.TokhH8432their staffsH4294.

7Then MosesH4872leftוַיַּנַּ֥חvai.ya.NachH5117the staffsהַמַּטֹּ֖תha.ma.TotH4294beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the LordH3068inthe tentH168of the testimonyהָעֵדֻֽת׃ha.'e.DutH5715.

8Now on the nextמִֽמָּחֳרָ֗תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283dayH4283MosesH4872wentH935into the tentH168of the testimonyהָעֵד֔וּתha.'e.DutH5715;and beholdוְהִנֵּ֛הve.hi.NehH2009,Aaron’sH175staffמַטֵּֽה־ma.teh-H4294for the houseלְבֵ֣יתle.VeitH1004of Leviלֵוִ֑יle.ViH3878had sproutedפָּרַ֥חpa.RachH6524and producedוַיֹּ֤צֵֽאvai.Yo.tze'H3318budsפֶ֙רַח֙fe.rachH6525and bloomedוַיָּ֣צֵֽץvai.Ya.tzetzH6692with blossomsצִ֔יץTzitzH6731,and it yieldedH1580ripeH1580almondsשְׁקֵדִֽים׃she.ke.DimH8247.

9MosesH4872then broughtH3318outH3318allכָּל־kol-H3605the staffsהַמַּטֹּת֙ha.ma.TotH4294from the presenceמִלִּפְנֵ֣יmi.lif.NeiH6440of the LordH3068to allכָּל־kol-H3605the sonsבְּנֵ֖יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478;and they lookedוַיִּרְא֥וּvai.yir.'UH7200,and eachH376manH376tookוַיִּקְח֖וּvai.yik.ChuH3947his staffמַטֵּֽהוּ׃ סma.Te.huH4294.

10But the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872, “PutH7725the staffמַטֵּ֤הma.TehH4294of Aaronאַהֲרֹן֙'a.ha.RonH175backהָשֵׁ֞בha.ShevH7725in frontH6440of the testimonyהָעֵד֔וּתha.'e.DutH5715to be keptלְמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶתle.mish.Me.retH4931as a signלְא֖וֹתle.'otH226against therebelsמֶ֑רִיMe.riH4805,so that you may putH3615anH3615endH3615toH3615their grumblingsתְּלוּנֹּתָ֛םte.lu.no.TamH8519againstH4480 H5921Me and they do not dieיָמֻֽתוּ׃ya.Mu.tuH4191.”

11MosesH4872didוַיַּ֖עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213so;justH3512asH3512the LordH3068had commandedצִוָּ֧הtzi.VahH6680him, soכֵּ֥ןkenH3651he didעָשָֽׂה׃ ס'a.SahH6213.

12Then the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478spokeוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559to MosesH4872,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Beholdהֵ֥ןhenH2005,we are passingH1478awayH1478,we are perishingאָבַ֖דְנוּ'a.Vad.nuH6,we are allכֻּלָּ֥נוּku.La.nuH3605perishingאָבָֽדְנוּ׃'a.Vad.nuH6!

13Everyoneכֹּ֣לkolH3605who comesH7131nearH7131,who comesH7131nearH7131to the tabernacleמִשְׁכַּ֥ןmish.KanH4908of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,must dieH4191.Are we to perishלִגְוֹֽעַ׃ סlig.Vo.a'H1478completelyתַּ֖מְנוּTam.nuH8552?”
