2SoIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵ֥לYis.ra.'ElH3478madeוַיִּדַּ֨רvai.yi.DarH5087a vowנֶ֛דֶרNe.derH5088to the Lordלַֽיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068and saidוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559, “Ifאִם־'im-H518You will indeedH5414handבְּיָדִ֔יbe.ya.DiH3027 H5414overH5414thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088peopleהָעָ֤םha.'AmH5971to me, then I willutterlyH2763destroyוְהַֽחֲרַמְתִּ֖יve.ha.cha.ram.TiH2763their citiesעָרֵיהֶֽם׃'a.rei.HemH5892.”

3The Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068heardוַיִּשְׁמַ֨עvai.yish.Ma'H8085the voiceבְּק֣וֹלbe.KolH6963of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478and turnedH5414overH5414the Canaanitesהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔יha.ke.na.'a.NiH3669; then theyutterlyH2763destroyedוַיַּחֲרֵ֥םvai.ya.cha.RemH2763them and their citiesעָרֵיהֶ֑ם'a.rei.HemH5892.And the placeהַמָּק֖וֹםha.ma.KomH4725was namedוַיִּקְרָ֥א שֵׁם־vai.yik.Ra' shem-H8034 H7121Hormahחָרְמָֽה׃ פcha.re.MahH2767.

4Then they setוַיִּסְע֞וּvai.yis.'UH5265outH5265from Mountהָהָר֙ha.HarH2022Horמֵהֹ֤רme.HorH2023by the wayדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of theRedס֔וּףSufH5488Seaיַם־yam-H3220, togoלִסְבֹ֖בlis.VoH5437aroundH5437the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of EdomH112; and thepeopleנֶֽפֶשׁ־ הָעָ֖םne.fesh- ha.'AmH5315 H5971becameH7114impatientH7114because of the journeyבַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃ba.Da.rekhH1870.

5So the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696against Godבֵּֽאלֹהִים֮be.lo.HimH430and Mosesוּבְמֹשֶׁה֒u.ve.mo.ShehH4872: “Whyלָמָ֤הla.MahH4100have you broughtH5927us upH5927from Egyptמִמִּצְרַ֔יִםmi.mitz.Ra.yimH4714to dieלָמ֖וּתla.MutH4191in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֑רba.mid.BarH4057?For thereH369isH369noH369foodלֶ֙חֶם֙le.chemH3899and noH369waterמַ֔יִםMa.yimH4325, andwe are disgustedקָ֔צָהKa.tzahH6973withthis miserableהַקְּלֹקֵֽל׃ha.ke.lo.KelH7052foodבַּלֶּ֖חֶםba.Le.chemH3899.”

6Then the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068sentוַיְשַׁלַּ֨חvay.sha.LachH7971fieryH8314serpentsH8314among the peopleבָּעָ֗םba.'AmH5971andthey bitוַֽיְנַשְּׁכ֖וּvay.na.she.KhuH5391the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971, so thatmanyרָ֖בravH7227peopleעַם־'am-H5971of Israelמִיִּשְׂרָאֵֽל׃mi.Yis.ra.'ElH3478diedוַיָּ֥מָתvai.Ya.motH4191.

7So the peopleהָעָ֨םha.'AmH5971cameוַיָּבֹא֩vai.ya.Vo'H935to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֜הmo.ShehH4872and saidוַיֹּאמְר֣וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “We have sinnedחָטָ֗אנוּcha.Ta.nuH2398,becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588we have spokenדִבַּ֤רְנוּdi.Bar.nuH1696against the Lordבַֽיהוָה֙ba.Yah.wehH3068and against you;intercedeהִתְפַּלֵּל֙hit.pa.LelH6419with the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,that He will removeוְיָסֵ֥רve.ya.SerH5493the serpentsהַנָּחָ֑שׁha.na.ChashH5175from us.” And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֖הmo.ShehH4872intercededוַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֥לvai.yit.pa.LelH6419for the peopleהָעָֽם׃ha.'AmH5971.

8Then the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872, “Makeעֲשֵׂ֤ה'a.SehH6213afieryשָׂרָ֔ףsa.RafH8314serpent,and putוְשִׂ֥יםve.SimH7760it on a flagנֵ֑סNesH5251pole;and it shall comeH1961aboutH1961,that everyoneכָּל־kol-H3605who is bittenהַנָּשׁ֔וּךְha.na.ShukhH5391,and looksוְרָאָ֥הve.ra.'AhH7200at it, will liveוָחָֽי׃va.ChaiH2421.”

9So Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872madeוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213abronzeנְחֹ֔שֶׁתne.Cho.shetH5178serpentנְחַ֣שׁne.ChashH5175and putוַיְשִׂמֵ֖הוּvay.si.Me.huH7760it on the flagהַנֵּ֑סha.NesH5251pole;and it cameH1961aboutH1961,that ifאִם־'im-H518a serpentהַנָּחָשׁ֙ha.na.ChashH5175bitנָשַׁ֤ךְna.ShakhH5391someoneאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376,and he lookedוְהִבִּ֛יטve.hi.BitH5027at the bronzeהַנְּחֹ֖שֶׁתha.ne.Cho.shetH5178serpentנְחַ֥שׁne.ChashH5175,he livedוָחָֽי׃va.ChaiH2421.

10Now the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478movedH5265outH5265and campedוַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583in Obothבְּאֹבֹֽת׃be.'o.VotH88.

11Then they journeyedוַיִּסְע֖וּvai.yis.'UH5265from Obothמֵאֹבֹ֑תme.'o.VotH88and campedוַֽיַּחֲנ֞וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583at Iye-abarimH5863,in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּר֙ba.mid.BarH4057whichאֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834is oppositeעַל־ פְּנֵ֣י'al- pe.NeiH5921 H6440Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124, to theeastמִמִּזְרַ֖ח הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃mi.miz.Rach ha.Sha.meshH4217 H8121.

12From thereמִשָּׁ֖םmi.ShamH8033they setנָסָ֑עוּna.Sa.'uH5265outH5265and campedוַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583inWadiבְּנַ֥חַלbe.Na.chalH5158Zeredזָֽרֶד׃Za.redH2218.

13From thereמִשָּׁם֮mi.ShamH8033they journeyedנָסָעוּ֒na.sa.'UH5265and campedוַֽיַּחֲנ֗וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583on the otherמֵעֵ֤בֶרme.'E.verH5676sideH5676of the Arnonאַרְנוֹן֙'ar.nOnH769,whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834is in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֔רba.mid.BarH4057that comesH3318outH3318of the borderמִגְּב֣וּלmi.ge.VulH1366of the Amoritesהָֽאֱמֹרִ֑יha.'e.mo.RiH567;for the Arnonאַרְנוֹן֙'ar.nOnH769is the borderגְּב֣וּלge.VulH1366of Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124,betweenH996Moabמוֹאָ֖בmo.'AvH4124and the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִֽי׃ha.'e.mo.RiH567.

14For thatH3651reasonH3651it is saidיֵֽאָמַ֔רye.'a.MarH559in the Bookבְּסֵ֖פֶרbe.Se.ferH5612of the Warsמִלְחֲמֹ֣תmil.cha.MotH4421of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, “Wahebוָהֵ֣בva.HevH2052in Suphahבְּסוּפָ֔הbe.su.FahH5492, And thewadisהַנְּחָלִ֖יםha.ne.cha.LimH5158of the Arnonאַרְנֽוֹן׃'ar.NonH769,

15And the slopeוְאֶ֙שֶׁד֙ve.'E.shedH793of the wadisהַנְּחָלִ֔יםha.ne.cha.LimH5158That extendsנָטָ֖הna.TahH5186to the siteH7675ofArעָ֑ר'ArH6144,And leansוְנִשְׁעַ֖ןve.nish.'AnH8172to the borderלִגְב֥וּלlig.VulH1366of Moabמוֹאָֽב׃mo.'AvH4124.”

16From thereוּמִשָּׁ֖םu.mi.ShamH8033they continued toBeerבְּאֵ֑רָהbe.'E.rahH876,that is the wellהַבְּאֵ֗רha.be.'ErH875whereאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559to Mosesלְמֹשֶׁ֔הle.mo.ShehH4872, “Assembleאֱסֹף֙'e.SofH622the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971,that I may giveוְאֶתְּנָ֥הve.'e.te.NahH5414them waterמָֽיִם׃ סMa.yimH4325.”

17Thenאָ֚ז'azH227Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478sangיָשִׁ֣ירya.ShirH7891thisH2088songהַשִּׁירָ֖הha.shi.RahH7892: “SpringH5927upH5927,O wellבְאֵ֖רve.'ErH875!SingH6031to it!

18The wellבְּאֵ֞רbe.'ErH875,which the leadersשָׂרִ֗יםsa.RimH8269dugחֲפָר֣וּהָcha.fa.Ru.haH2658,Which the noblesנְדִיבֵ֣יne.di.VeiH5081of the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971hollowedH3738outH3738,With the scepterבִּמְחֹקֵ֖קbim.cho.KekH2710andwith their staffsבְּמִשְׁעֲנֹתָ֑םbe.mish.'a.no.TamH4938.”And from the wildernessוּמִמִּדְבָּ֖רu.mi.mid.BarH4057they continuedto Mattanahמַתָּנָֽה׃ma.ta.NahH4980,

20and from Bamothוּמִבָּמ֗וֹתu.mi.ba.MotH1120to the valleyהַגַּיְא֙ha.gaY'H1516that is in the landבִּשְׂדֵ֣הbis.DehH7704of Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124,at the topרֹ֖אשׁroshH7218of Pisgahהַפִּסְגָּ֑הha.pis.GahH6449,which overlooksוְנִשְׁקָ֖פָה עַל־ פְּנֵ֥יve.nish.Ka.fah 'al- pe.NeiH5921 H6440 H8259thedesertהַיְשִׁימֹֽן׃ פhay.shi.MonH3452.

22“Let me passאֶעְבְּרָ֣ה'e'.be.RahH5674through your landבְאַרְצֶ֗ךָve.'ar.Tze.khaH776.We will not turnנִטֶּה֙ni.TehH5186offH5186into fieldבְּשָׂדֶ֣הbe.sa.DehH7704or vineyardוּבְכֶ֔רֶםu.ve.Khe.remH3754;we will not drinkנִשְׁתֶּ֖הnish.TehH8354waterמֵ֣יmeiH4325from wellsבְאֵ֑רve.'ErH875.We will goנֵלֵ֔ךְne.LekhH1980by the king’sהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428roadבְּדֶ֤רֶךְbe.De.rekhH1870untilעַ֥ד אֲשֶֽׁר־'ad 'a.Sher-H5704 H834we have passedנַעֲבֹ֖רna.'a.VorH5674throughH5674your borderגְּבֻלֶֽךָ׃ge.vu.Le.khaH1366.”

23But Sihonסִיחֹ֣ןsi.ChonH5511would not permitנָתַ֨ןna.TanH5414Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֮Yis.ra.'ElH3478to passעֲבֹ֣ר'a.VorH5674through his borderבִּגְבֻלוֹ֒big.vu.LoH1366.Instead, Sihonסִיחֹ֜ןsi.ChonH5511gatheredוַיֶּאֱסֹ֨ףvai.ye.'e.SofH622allכָּל־kol-H3605his peopleעַמּ֗וֹa.MoH5971and wentH3318outH3318againstלִקְרַ֤אתlik.RatH7122Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478in the wildernessהַמִּדְבָּ֔רָהha.mid.Ba.rahH4057,and cameוַיָּבֹ֖אvai.ya.Vo'H935toJahazיָ֑הְצָהYa.he.tzahH3096and foughtוַיִּלָּ֖חֶםvai.yi.La.chemH3898against Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃be.Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

24ThenIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478struckוַיַּכֵּ֥הוּvai.ya.Ke.huH5221him with the edgeלְפִי־le.fi-H6310of the swordחָ֑רֶבCha.revH2719,and tookH3423possessionוַיִּירַ֨שׁvai.yi.RashH3423of his landאַרְצ֜וֹ'ar.TzoH776from the Arnonמֵֽאַרְנֹ֗ןme.'ar.NonH769to the Jabbokיַבֹּק֙ya.BokH2999,as farH5704as the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Ammonעַמּ֔וֹןa.MonH5983; for theborderגְּב֖וּלge.VulH1366of the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Ammonעַמּֽוֹן׃a.MonH5983wasJazerH3270.

25Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478tookוַיִּקַּח֙vai.yi.KachH3947allכָּל־kol-H3605theseהָאֵ֑לֶּהha.'E.lehH428citiesהֶעָרִ֖יםhe.'a.RimH5892, andIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478livedוַיֵּ֤שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892of the Amoritesהָֽאֱמֹרִ֔יha.'e.mo.RiH567,in Heshbonבְּחֶשְׁבּ֖וֹןbe.chesh.BonH2809and in allוּבְכָל־u.ve.Khol-H3605hervillagesבְּנֹתֶֽיהָ׃be.no.Tei.haH1323.

26For Heshbonחֶשְׁבּ֔וֹןchesh.BonH2809was the cityעִ֗יר'IrH5892of Sihonסִיחֹ֛ןsi.ChonH5511,kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִ֖יha.'e.mo.RiH567,whoH1931had foughtנִלְחַ֗םnil.ChamH3898against the formerהָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹןha.ri.ShonH7223kingבְּמֶ֤לֶךְbe.Me.lekhH4428of Moabמוֹאָב֙mo.'AvH4124and had takenוַיִּקַּ֧חvai.yi.KachH3947allכָּל־kol-H3605his landאַרְצ֛וֹ'ar.TzoH776out of his handמִיָּד֖וֹmi.ya.DoH3027,as farעַד־'ad-H5704as the Arnonאַרְנֹֽן׃'ar.NonH769.

28For a fireאֵשׁ֙'eshH784spreadיָֽצְאָ֣הya.tze.'AhH3318from Heshbonמֵֽחֶשְׁבּ֔וֹןme.chesh.BonH2809,A flameלֶהָבָ֖הle.ha.VahH3852from the townמִקִּרְיַ֣תmi.kir.YatH7151of Sihonסִיחֹ֑ןsi.ChonH5511;It devouredאָֽכְלָה֙'a.khe.LahH398Arעָ֣ר'arH6144of Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124, Thedominantבַּעֲלֵ֖יba.'a.LeiH1167heightsH1181of the Arnonאַרְנֹֽן׃'ar.NonH769.

29Woeאוֹי־'o-H188to you, Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124!You are destroyedאָבַ֖דְתָּ'a.Vad.taH6,peopleעַם־'am-H5971ofChemoshכְּמ֑וֹשׁke.Mo.oshH3645!He has givenנָתַ֨ןna.TanH5414his sonsבָּנָ֤יוba.NavH1121as fugitivesפְּלֵיטִם֙pe.lei.TimH6412,And his daughtersוּבְנֹתָ֣יוu.ve.no.TavH1323into captivityבַּשְּׁבִ֔יתba.she.VitH7622,To an Amoriteאֱמֹרִ֖י'e.mo.RiH567kingלְמֶ֥לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428,Sihonסִיחֽוֹן׃si.ChonH5511.

31So Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478livedוַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙vai.Ye.shevH3427in the landבְּאֶ֖רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִֽי׃ha.'e.mo.RiH567.

32Now Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971mento spyלְרַגֵּ֣לle.ra.GelH7270outH7270Jazerיַעְזֵ֔רya'.ZerH3270,and they capturedוַֽיִּלְכְּד֖וּvai.yil.ke.DuH3920its villagesבְּנֹתֶ֑יהָbe.no.Tei.haH1323and dispossessedוַיּ֖וֹרֶשׁvai.yi.reshH3423the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִ֥יha.'e.mo.RiH567whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834werethereשָֽׁם׃ShamH8033.

33Then they turnedוַיִּפְנוּ֙vai.yif.NuH6437and wentH5927upH5927by the wayדֶּ֖רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of Bashanהַבָּשָׁ֑ןha.ba.ShanH1316,and Ogעוֹג֩'OgH5747the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Bashanהַבָּשָׁ֨ןha.ba.ShanH1316wentH3318outH3318againstH7125themwith allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605his peopleעַמּ֛וֹa.MoH5971,for battleלַמִּלְחָמָ֖הla.mil.cha.MahH4421atEdreiאֶדְרֶֽעִי׃'ed.Re.'iH154.

34But the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872, “Do not fearתִּירָ֣אti.Ra'H3372him, for I have handedבְיָדְךָ֞ve.ya.de.KhaH5414 H3027him overH5414to you, and allכָּל־kol-H3605his peopleעַמּ֖וֹa.MoH5971and his landאַרְצ֑וֹ'ar.TzoH776;and you shall doוְעָשִׂ֣יתָve.'a.Si.taH6213to him as you didעָשִׂ֗יתָ'a.Si.taH6213to Sihonלְסִיחֹן֙le.si.ChonH5511,kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of the Amoritesהָֽאֱמֹרִ֔יha.'e.mo.RiH567,whoH834livedיוֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427in Heshbonבְּחֶשְׁבּֽוֹן׃be.chesh.BonH2809.”
