Psalms 41
The Psalmist in Sickness Complains of Enemies and False Friends.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
1How blessedH835 is he who 1considersH7919 the 2helplessH1800; The LordH3068 will deliverH4422 him 3in a dayH3117 of 4troubleH7463.2The LordH3068 will 5protectH8104 him and keepH2421 him aliveH2421, And he shall 6be calledH833 7blessedH833 upon the earthH776; And 8do not giveH5414 him over to the desireH5315 of his enemiesH340.3The LordH3068 will sustainH5582 him upon his sickbedH1741H6210; In his illnessH2483, You 9restoreH2015 him to healthH3605H4904.
4As for me, I saidH559, “O LordH3068, be graciousH2603 to me; 10HealH7495 my soulH5315, for 11I have sinnedH2398 against You.”5My enemiesH340 12speakH559 evilH7451 against me, “WhenH4970 will he dieH4191, and his nameH8034 perishH6?”6And 13whenH518 he comesH935 to seeH7200 me, he 14speaksH1696 15falsehoodH7723; His heartH3820 gathersH6908 wickednessH205 to itself; When he goesH3318 outsideH2351, he tellsH1696 it.7AllH3605 who hateH8130 me whisperH3907 togetherH3162 againstH5921 me; AgainstH5921 me they 16deviseH2803 my hurtH7463, saying,8“A wickedH1100 thingH1697 is pouredH3332 out 17upon him, That whenH834 he liesH7901 downH7901, he will 18not riseH6965 up againH3254.”9EvenH1571 my 19closeH7965 friendH376H7965 in whomH834 I trustedH982, Who ateH398 my breadH3899, Has liftedH1431 up his heelH6119 againstH5921 me.
10But You, O LordH3068, be graciousH2603 to me and 20raiseH6965 me up, That I may repayH7999 them.11By thisH2088 I knowH3045 that 21You are pleasedH2654 with me, BecauseH3588 22my enemyH340 does not shoutH7321 in triumphH7321 overH5921 me.12As for me, 23You upholdH8551 me in my integrityH8537, And You setH5324 me 24in Your presenceH6440 foreverH5769.
