Psalms 44

Former Deliverances and Present Troubles.

For the choir director. A Possibly Contemplative, or Didactic, or Skillful PsalmMaskil of the sons of Korah.

1O GodH430, we have heardH8085 with our earsH241, Our 1fathersH1 have toldH5608 us The 2workH6467 that You didH6466 in their daysH3117, In the 3daysH3117 of oldH6924.2You with Your own handH3027 4droveH3423 out the nationsH1471; Then You 5plantedH5193 them; You 6afflictedH7489 the peoplesH3816, Then You 7spreadH7971 them abroad.3For by their own swordH2719 they 8did not possessH3423 the landH776, And their own armH2220 did not saveH3467 them, But Your rightH3225 handH3225 and Your 9armH2220 and the 10lightH216 of Your presenceH6440, For You 11favoredH7521 them.

4You are 12my KingH4428, O GodH430; 13CommandH6680 14victoriesH3444 for JacobH3290.5Through You we will 15pushH5055 backH5055 our adversariesH6862; Through Your nameH8034 we will 16trampleH947 downH947 those who riseH6965 up against us.6For I will 17not trustH982 in my bowH7198, NorH3808 will my swordH2719 saveH3467 me.7But You 18have savedH3467 us from our adversariesH6862, And You have 19putH954 to shameH954 those who hateH8130 us.8In GodH430 we have 20boastedH1984 allH3605 dayH3117 long, And we will 21giveH3034 thanksH3034 to Your nameH8034 foreverH5769. 22SelahH5542.

9YetH637 You 23have rejectedH2186 us and broughtH3637 us to 24dishonorH3637, And 25do not goH3318 out with our armiesH6635.10You cause us to 26turnH7725 backH268 from the adversaryH6862; And those who hateH8130 us 27have takenH8154 spoilH8154 for themselves.11You giveH5414 us as 28sheepH6629 29to be eatenH3978 And have 30scatteredH2219 us among the nationsH1471.12You 31sellH4376 Your peopleH5971 32cheaplyH3808H1952, And have not 33profitedH7235 by their saleH4242.13You makeH7760 us a 34reproachH2781 to our neighborsH7934, A scoffingH3933 and a 35derisionH7047 to those aroundH5439 us.14You makeH7760 us 36a bywordH4912 among the nationsH1471, A 3738laughingstockH4493H7218 among the peoplesH3816.15AllH3605 dayH3117 long my dishonorH3639 is beforeH5048 me And 39my 40humiliationH1322H6440 has overwhelmedH3680 me,16BecauseH4480 of the voiceH6963 of him who 41reproachesH2778 and revilesH1442, BecauseH4480 of the presenceH6440 of the 42enemyH340 and the avengerH5358.

17AllH3605 thisH2088 has comeH935 upon us, but we have 43not forgottenH7911 You, And we have not 44dealtH8266 falselyH8266 with Your covenantH1285.18Our heartH3820 has not 45turnedH5472 backH268, And our stepsH804 46have not deviatedH5186 from Your wayH734,19YetH3588 You have 47crushedH1794 us in a placeH4725 of 48jackalsH8565 And coveredH3680 us with 49the shadowH6757 of deathH6757.

20IfH518 we had 50forgottenH7911 the nameH8034 of our GodH430 Or extendedH6566 our 51handsH3709 to 52a strangeH2114 godH410,21Would not GodH430 53findH2713 thisH2088 out? For He knowsH3045 the secretsH8587 of the heartH3820.22But 54for Your sakeH5921 we are killedH2026 allH3605 dayH3117 long; We are consideredH2803 as 55sheepH6629 to be slaughteredH2878.2356ArouseH5782 Yourself, whyH4100 57do You sleepH3462, O LordH136? AwakeH7019, 58do not rejectH2186 us foreverH5331.24WhyH4100 do You 59hideH5641 Your faceH6440 And 60forgetH7911 our afflictionH6040 and our oppressionH3906?25For our 61soulH5315 has sunkH7743 downH7743 into the dustH6083; Our bodyH990 cleavesH1692 to the earthH776.2662RiseH6965 up, be our helpH5833, And 63redeemH6299 us for the sakeH4616 of Your lovingkindnessH2617.
