3He leftἀφῆκενaphēkenG863JudeaG2453and wentG565awayἀπῆλθενapēlthenG565againπάλινpalinG3825into GalileeΓαλιλαίαν.GalilaianG1056.

4And He hadἔδειedeiG1163to passδιέρχεσθαιdierchesthaiG1330throughδιὰdiaG1330 G1223SamariaΣαμαρείας.SamareiasG4540.

5SoοὖνounG3767He cameἔρχεταιerchetaiG2064to a cityπόλινpolinG4172ofSamariaΣαμαρείαςSamareiasG4540calledλεγομένηνlegomenēnG3004SycharΣυχάρ,SucharG4965,nearπλησίονplēsionG4139the parcelG5564of groundG5564thatJacobἸακὼβIakōbG2384gaveἔδωκενedōkenG1325to his sonυἱῷhuiōG5207JosephἸωσὴφIōsēphG2501;

6and Jacob’sἸακώβ.¶IakōbG2384wellπηγὴpēgēG4077was thereἐκεῖekeiG1563.SoοὖνounG3767JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424,being weariedκεκοπιακὼςkekopiakōsG2872from His journeyὁδοιπορίαςhodoiporiasG3597,was sittingἐκαθέζετοekathezetoG2516thusοὕτωςhoutōsG3779by the wellπηγῇ·pēgēaG4077.It was aboutὡςhōsG5613the sixthἕκτη.¶hektēG1623hourὥραhōraG5610.

8For HisdisciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101had goneG565awayἀπεληλύθεισανapelēlutheisanG565intothe cityπόλινpolinG4172to buyἀγοράσωσιν.agorasōsinG59foodτροφὰςtrophasG5160.

9ThereforeοὖνounG3767theSamaritanΣαμαρῖτις·SamaritisG4542womanγυνὴgunēG1135saidλέγειlegeiG3004to Him, “HowπῶςpōsG4459is it that You, beingὢνōnG1510a JewἸουδαῖοςIoudaiosG2453,askαἰτεῖςaiteisG154me for a drinkπεῖνpeinG4095since I amοὔσης;ousēsG1510a SamaritanΣαμαρίτιδοςSamaritidosG4542womanγυναικὸςgunaikosG1135?” (ForJewsἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiG2453haveG4798noοὐouG3756dealingsG4798with SamaritansΣαμαρίταις.¶SamaritaisG4541.)

10JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424answeredἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611and saidλέγωνlegōnG3004to her,“IfεἰeiG1487you knewG3609the giftδωρεὰνdōreanG1431of GodθεοῦtheouG2316,and whoτίςtisG5101it is who saysG3004to you, ‘GiveδόςdosG1325Me a drinkπεῖν,peinG4095,’you would have askedᾔτησαςētēsasG154Him, and He would have givenἔδωκενedōkenG1325youlivingζῶν.zōnG2198waterὕδωρhudōrG5204.”

11She saidλέγειlegeiG3004to Him, “Sirκύριε,kurieG2962,You haveἔχεις,echeisG2192nothingοὔτεouteG3777to drawἄντλημαantlēmaG502with and the wellφρέαρphrearG5421is deepβαθύ·bathuG901;whereπόθενpothenG4159thenοὖνounG3767do You getἔχειςecheisG2192thatlivingζῶν;zōnG2198water?

12You are not greaterμείζωνmeizōnG3173than our fatherπατρὸςpatrosG3962JacobἸακώβ,IakōbG2384,are You, whoὃςhosG3739gaveἔδωκενedōkenG1325us the wellφρέαρ,phrearG5421,and drankἔπιενepienG4095of it himselfG846and his sonsυἱοὶhuioiG5207and his cattleθρέμματαthremmataG2353?”

13JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424answeredἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611and saidG3004to her,“EveryoneπᾶςpasG3956who drinksπίνωνpinōnG4095of thisτούτουtoutouG3778waterὕδατοςhudatosG5204will thirstδιψήσειdipsēseiG1372againπάλιν.palinG3825;
