Job 9:16-35
16If I had calledH7121, and he had answeredH6030 me, I would not believeH539 that he hearkened to my voiceH6963, — 17He, who crusheth me with a tempest, and multiplieth my woundsH6482 without causeH2600. 18He suffereth me not to take my breathH7307, for he filleth me with bitternesses. 19Be it a question of strengthH3581, lo, [he is] strong; and be it of judgmentH4941, who will setH3259 me a time? 20If I justifiedH6663 myself, mine own mouthH6310 would condemnH7561 me; were I perfectH8535, he would prove me perverse. 21Were I perfectH8535, [yet] would I not knowH3045 my soulH5315: I would despise my lifeH5315. 22It is all oneH259; thereforeH3651 I saidH559, he destroyeth the perfectH8535 and the wickedH7563. 23If the scourgeH7752 killH4191 suddenlyH6597, he mocketh at the trial of the innocentH5355. 24The earthH776 is givenH5414 over into the handH3027 of the wickedH7563 [man]; he covereth the facesH6440 of its judgesH8199. If not, who thenH645 is it? 25And my daysH3117 are swifter than a runnerH7323: they fleeH1272 awayH1272, they seeH7200 no goodH2896. 26They pass by like skiffs of reed; as an eagleH5404 that swoops upon the prey. 27If I sayH559, I will forgetH7911 my complaintH7879, I will leaveH5800 off my [sad] countenance, and brighten up, 28I am afraidH3025 of all my sorrowsH6094; I knowH3045 that thou wilt not hold me innocent. 29Be it that I am wicked, whyH4100 then do I labour in vain? 30If I washedH7364 myself with snow-water, and cleansed my handsH3709 in purity, 31ThenH227 wouldest thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothesH8008 would abhorH8581 me. 32For he is not a manH376, as I am, that I should answerH6030 him; that we should comeH935 togetherH3162 in judgmentH4941. 33There is not an umpire between us, who should lay his handH3027 upon us both. 34Let him take his rodH7626 awayH5493 from me, and let not his terrorH367 make me afraid, 35[Then] I will speakH1696, and not fearH3372 him; but it is not soH3651 with me.
