Job 28
Darby Bible
1Surely there is a vein for the silverH3701, and a placeH4725 for goldH2091 which they refineH2212; 2IronH1270 is takenH3947 out of the dustH6083, and copper is molten out of the stoneH68. 3[Man] putteth an endH7093 to the darknessH2822, and exploreth to the utmost limit, the stonesH68 of darknessH2822 and of the shadow of death. 4He openeth a shaft far from the inhabitants [of the earth]: forgottenH7911 of the footH7272, they hangH1809 suspended; away below men they hover. 5As for the earthH776, out of it cometh breadH3899, and underneath it is turnedH2015 up as by fireH784; 6The stonesH68 of it are the placeH4725 of sapphiresH5601, and it hath dustH6083 of goldH2091. 7It is a pathH5410 no birdH5861 of preyH5861 knoweth, and the vulture's eyeH5869 hath not seen it; 8The proud beasts have not troddenH1869 it, nor the fierce lionH7826 passed over it. 9[Man] putteth forthH7971 his handH3027 upon the flinty rock, he overturneth the mountainsH2022 by the rootH8328. 10He cutteth out channels in the rocksH6697, and his eyeH5869 seeth every preciousH3366 thing. 11He bindeth the streams that they drip not, and what is hidden he bringeth forthH3318 to lightH216. 12But wisdomH2451, whereH335 shall it be foundH4672? and whereH335 is the placeH4725 of understandingH998? 13Man knoweth not the value thereof; and it is not foundH4672 in the landH776 of the living. 14The deepH8415 saith, It is not in me; and the seaH3220 saith, It is not with me. 15Choice gold cannot be givenH5414 for it, nor silverH3701 be weighedH8254 for its price. 16It is not set in the balance with goldH3800 of OphirH211, with the preciousH3368 onyxH7718, and the sapphireH5601. 17GoldH2091 and glass cannot be compared to it, nor vesselsH3627 of fine goldH2091 be its exchangeH8545. 18Corals and crystal are no more rememberedH2142; yea, the acquisition of wisdomH2451 is above rubies. 19The topazH6357 of Ethiopia shall not be compared to it, neither shall it be set in the balance with pureH2889 goldH3800. 20Whence then cometh wisdomH2451? and whereH335 is the placeH4725 of understandingH998? 21For it is hiddenH5641 from the eyesH5869 of all living, and concealedH5641 from the fowl of the heavensH8064. 22Destruction and deathH4194 sayH559, We have heardH8085 its reportH8088 with our earsH241. 231GodH430 understandeth the wayH1870 thereof, and he knoweth its placeH4725: 24For he looketh to the endsH7098 of the earthH776, he seeth under the whole heavenH8064. 25In makingH6213 a weightH4948 for the windH7307, and meting out the watersH4325 by measure, 26In appointing a statuteH2706 for the rainH4306, and a wayH1870 for the thunder's flash: 27ThenH227 did he seeH7200 it, and declare it; he establishedH3559 it, yea, and searchedH2713 it out; 28And unto manH120 he saidH559, Lo, the fearH3374 of the LordH136, that is wisdomH2451; and to departH5493 from evilH7451 is understandingH998.
