Job 9
Darby Bible
1And JobH347 answered and saidH559, 2Of a truth I knowH3045 it is soH3651; but howH4100 can man be just with 1GodH410? 3If he shall choose to strive with him, he cannot answerH6030 him oneH259 thing of a thousandH505. 4He is wiseH2450 in heartH3824 and mighty in strengthH3581: who hath hardenedH7185 himself against him, and had peace? 5Who removeth mountainsH2022, and they knowH3045 it not, whenH834 he overturneth them in his angerH639; 6Who shaketh the earthH776 out of its placeH4725, and the pillarsH5982 thereof trembleH7264; 7Who commandeth the sun, and it riseth not, and he sealeth up the starsH3556; 8Who aloneH905 spreadeth out the heavensH8064, and treadeth upon the highH1116 waves of the seaH3220; 9Who maketh the BearH5906, OrionH3685, and the PleiadesH3598, and the chambersH2315 of the southH8486; 10Who doeth greatH1419 thingsH1419 past finding out, and wondersH6381 without numberH4557. 11Lo, he goeth by me, and I seeH7200 [him] not; and he passeth along, and I perceiveH995 him not. 12Behold, he taketh awayH7725: who will hinder him? Who will sayH559 unto him, What doest thou? 132GodH433 withdraweth not his angerH639; the proud helpersH5826 stoop under him: 14How much less shall I answerH6030 him, chooseH977 out my wordsH1697 [to strive] with him? 15Whom, though I were righteousH6663, [yet] would I not answerH6030; I would make supplication to my judgeH8199. 16If I had calledH7121, and he had answeredH6030 me, I would not believeH539 that he hearkened to my voiceH6963, — 17He, who crusheth me with a tempest, and multiplieth my woundsH6482 without causeH2600. 18He suffereth me not to take my breathH7307, for he filleth me with bitternesses. 19Be it a question of strengthH3581, lo, [he is] strong; and be it of judgmentH4941, who will setH3259 me a time? 20If I justifiedH6663 myself, mine own mouthH6310 would condemnH7561 me; were I perfectH8535, he would prove me perverse. 21Were I perfectH8535, [yet] would I not knowH3045 my soulH5315: I would despise my lifeH5315. 22It is all oneH259; thereforeH3651 I saidH559, he destroyeth the perfectH8535 and the wickedH7563. 23If the scourgeH7752 killH4191 suddenlyH6597, he mocketh at the trial of the innocentH5355. 24The earthH776 is givenH5414 over into the handH3027 of the wickedH7563 [man]; he covereth the facesH6440 of its judgesH8199. If not, who thenH645 is it? 25And my daysH3117 are swifter than a runnerH7323: they fleeH1272 awayH1272, they seeH7200 no goodH2896. 26They pass by like skiffs of reed; as an eagleH5404 that swoops upon the prey. 27If I sayH559, I will forgetH7911 my complaintH7879, I will leaveH5800 off my [sad] countenance, and brighten up, 28I am afraidH3025 of all my sorrowsH6094; I knowH3045 that thou wilt not hold me innocent. 29Be it that I am wicked, whyH4100 then do I labour in vain? 30If I washedH7364 myself with snow-water, and cleansed my handsH3709 in purity, 31ThenH227 wouldest thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothesH8008 would abhorH8581 me. 32For he is not a manH376, as I am, that I should answerH6030 him; that we should comeH935 togetherH3162 in judgmentH4941. 33There is not an umpire between us, who should lay his handH3027 upon us both. 34Let him take his rodH7626 awayH5493 from me, and let not his terrorH367 make me afraid, 35[Then] I will speakH1696, and not fearH3372 him; but it is not soH3651 with me.
