The Building of the Temple
11Now it cameH1961 about in the fourH702 hundredH3967 and eightiethH8084 yearH8141 after the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 cameH3318 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in the fourthH7243 yearH8141 of Solomon’sH8010 reignH4427 overH5921 IsraelH3478, in the monthH2320 of ZivH2099 whichH1931 is the secondH8145 monthH2320, that he 2began to buildH1129 the houseH1004 of the LordH3068. 2As for the houseH1004 whichH834 KingH4428 SolomonH8010 builtH1129 for the LordH3068, its lengthH753 was sixtyH8346 3cubitsH520 and its widthH7341 twentyH6242 cubits and its heightH6967 thirtyH7970 cubitsH520. 3The porchH197 in frontH6440 of the naveH1964 of the houseH1004 was twentyH6242 cubitsH520 4in lengthH753, 5correspondingH5921H6440 to the widthH7341 of the houseH1004, and its 6depthH7341 alongH5921 the frontH6440 of the houseH1004 was tenH6235 cubitsH520. 4Also for the houseH1004 7he madeH6213 windowsH2474 with artistic framesH8261. 58AgainstH5921 the wallH7023 of the houseH1004 he builtH1129 storiesH3330 encompassingH5439 the wallsH7023 of the houseH1004 aroundH5439 both the naveH1964 and the 9innerH1687 sanctuaryH1687; thus he madeH6213 10sideH6763 chambersH6763 allH5439 aroundH5439. 6The lowestH8481 storyH3330 was fiveH2568 cubitsH520 wideH7341, and the middleH8484 was sixH8337 cubitsH520 wideH7341, and the thirdH7992 was sevenH7651 cubitsH520 wideH7341; for on the outsideH2351 he 11madeH5414 offsetsH4052 in the wall of the houseH1004 allH5439 aroundH5439 in order that the beams would not 12be insertedH270 in the wallsH7023 of the houseH1004.
713The houseH1004, while it was being builtH1129, was builtH1129 of stoneH68 14preparedH8003 at the quarryH4551, and there was neitherH3808 hammerH4717 norH3808 axeH1631 norH3808 anyH3605 ironH1270 toolH3627 heardH8085 in the houseH1004 while it was being builtH1129.
8The doorwayH6607 for the 15lowestH8484 sideH6763 chamberH6763 was on the rightH3233 sideH3802 of the houseH1004; and they would goH5927 up by windingH3883 stairsH3883 to the middleH8484 story, and from the middleH8484 to the thirdH7992. 9So 16he builtH1129 the houseH1004 and finishedH3615 it; and he coveredH5603 the houseH1004 with beamsH1356 and 17planksH7713 of cedarH730. 10He also builtH1129 the storiesH3330 againstH5921 the wholeH3605 houseH1004, each fiveH2568 18cubitsH520 highH6967; and they 19were fastenedH270 to the houseH1004 with timbersH6086 of cedarH730.
11Now the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to SolomonH8010 sayingH559, 12“Concerning thisH2088 houseH1004 whichH834 you are buildingH1129, 20ifH518 you will walkH1980 in My statutesH2708 and executeH6213 My ordinancesH4941 and keepH8104 allH3605 My commandmentsH4687 by walkingH1980 in them, then I will carryH6965 out My wordH1697 with you whichH834 I spokeH1696 to DavidH1732 your fatherH1. 1321I will dwellH7931 amongH8432 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, and 22will not forsakeH5800 My peopleH5971 IsraelH3478.”
1423So SolomonH8010 builtH1129 the houseH1004 and finishedH3615 it. 15Then he 24builtH1129 the wallsH7023 of the houseH1004 on the insideH4480H1004 with boardsH6763 of cedarH730; from the floorH7172 of the houseH1004 to the 25ceilingH7023H5604 he overlaidH6823 the walls on the insideH4480H1004 with woodH6086, and he overlaidH6823 the floorH7172 of the houseH1004 with boardsH6763 of cypressH1265. 1626He builtH1129 twentyH6242 cubitsH520 on the rearH3411 partH3411 of the houseH1004 with boardsH6763 of cedarH730 from the floorH7172 to the 27ceilingH7023; he builtH1129 them for it on the insideH4480H1004 as an innerH1687 sanctuaryH1687, even as 28the mostH6944 holyH6944 placeH6944. 17The houseH1004, that is, the naveH1964 in frontH6440 of the inner sanctuary, was fortyH705 29cubitsH520 long. 18There was cedarH730 on the houseH1004 withinH6441, carvedH4734 in the shape of 30gourdsH6497 and openH6362 flowersH6731; allH3605 was cedarH730, thereH369 was noH369 stoneH68 seenH7200. 19Then he preparedH3559 an innerH1687 sanctuaryH1687 withinH8432 the houseH1004 in order to placeH5414 thereH8033 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LordH3068. 2031The innerH1687 sanctuaryH1687 was twentyH6242 cubitsH520 in lengthH753, twentyH6242 cubitsH520 in widthH7341, and twentyH6242 cubitsH520 in heightH6967, and he overlaidH6823 it with pureH5462 goldH2091. He also overlaidH6823 the altarH4196 with cedarH730. 21So SolomonH8010 overlaidH6823 the insideH4480H6441 of the houseH1004 with pureH5462 goldH2091. And he drewH5674 chainsH7569 of goldH2091 acrossH5674 the frontH6440 of the innerH1687 sanctuaryH1687, and he overlaidH6823 it with goldH2091. 22He overlaidH6823 the wholeH3605 houseH1004 with goldH2091, untilH5704 allH3605 the houseH1004 was finishedH8552. Also 32the wholeH3605 altarH4196 whichH834 was by the innerH1687 sanctuaryH1687 he overlaidH6823 with goldH2091.
2333Also in the innerH1687 sanctuaryH1687 he madeH6213 twoH8147 cherubimH3742 of oliveH8081 woodH6086, each tenH6235 cubitsH520 highH6967. 24FiveH2568 cubitsH520 was the oneH259 wingH3671 of the cherubH3742 and fiveH2568 cubitsH520 the otherH8145 wingH3671 of the cherubH3742; from the endH7098 of one wingH3671 to the endH7098 of the other wingH3671 were tenH6235 cubitsH520. 25The otherH8145 cherubH3742 was tenH6235 cubitsH520; bothH8147 the cherubimH3742 were of the sameH259 measureH4060 and the sameH259 formH7095. 26The heightH6967 of the oneH259 cherubH3742 was tenH6235 cubitsH520, and soH3651 was the otherH8145 cherubH3742. 27He placedH5414 the cherubimH3742 in the midstH8432 of the innerH6442 houseH1004, and 34the wingsH3671 of the cherubimH3742 were spreadH6566 out, so that the wingH3671 of the oneH259 was touchingH5060 the one wallH7023, and the wingH3671 of the otherH8145 cherubH3742 was touchingH5060 the otherH8145 wallH7023. So their wingsH3671 were touchingH5060 eachH3671 otherH3671 in the centerH8432 of the houseH1004. 28He also overlaidH6823 the cherubimH3742 with goldH2091.
29Then he carvedH7049 allH3605 the wallsH7023 of the houseH1004 roundH4524 aboutH4524 with carvedH6603 engravingsH6603 of cherubimH3742, palmH8561 treesH8561, and openH6362 flowersH6731, innerH6441 and outerH2435 sanctuaries. 30He overlaidH6823 the floorH7172 of the houseH1004 with goldH2091, innerH6441 and outerH2435 sanctuaries.
31For the entranceH6607 of the innerH1687 sanctuaryH1687 he madeH6213 doorsH1817 of oliveH8081 woodH6086, the lintelH352 and five-sidedH2549 doorpostsH4201. 32So he made twoH8147 doorsH1817 of oliveH8081 woodH6086, and he carvedH7049 on them carvingsH4734 of cherubimH3742, palmH8561 treesH8561, and openH6362 flowersH6731, and overlaidH6823 them with goldH2091; and he spreadH7286 the goldH2091 on the cherubimH3742 and on the palmH8561 treesH8561.
33SoH3651 also he madeH6213 for the entranceH6607 of the naveH1964 four-sidedH7243 doorpostsH4201 of oliveH8081 woodH6086 34and 35twoH8147 doorsH1817 of cypressH1265 woodH6086; the twoH8147 leavesH6763 of the oneH259 doorH1817 turnedH1550 on pivotsH1550, and the twoH8147 36leavesH7050 of the otherH8145 doorH1817 turnedH1550 on pivotsH1550. 35He carvedH7049 on it cherubimH3742, palmH8561 treesH8561, and openH6362 flowersH6731; and he overlaidH6823 them with goldH2091 evenlyH3474 appliedH3474 on the engravedH2707 work. 3637He builtH1129 the innerH6442 courtH2691 with threeH7969 rowsH2905 of cutH1496 stoneH1496 and a rowH2905 of cedarH730 beamsH3772.
3738In the fourthH7243 yearH8141 the foundationH3245 of the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 was laidH3245, in the monthH3391 of ZivH2099. 38In the eleventhH259H6240 yearH8141, in the monthH3391 of BulH945, whichH1931 is the eighthH8066 monthH2320, the houseH1004 was finishedH3615 throughout allH3605 its partsH1697 and according to allH3605 its plansH4941. So he was sevenH7651 yearsH8141 in buildingH1129 it.
