Hebrews 11:8-19 8 By faith Πίστει Pistei G4102 Abraham Ἀβραὰμ Abraam G11 , being called καλούμενος kaloumenos G2564 , obeyed ὑπήκουσεν hupēkousen G5219 to go G1831 out into the place τόπον topon G5117 which he was to receive λαμβάνειν lambanein G2983 for an inheritance κληρονομίαν klēronomian G2817 , and went G1831 out , not knowing ἐπιστάμενος epistamenos G1987 where ποῦ pou G4226 he was going . 9 By faith Πίστει Pistei G4102 he sojourned as a stranger G245 in the land γῆν gēn G1093 of promise ἐπαγγελίας epangelias G1860 as a foreign country , having dwelt in tents with Isaac Ἰσαὰκ Isaak G2464 and Jacob Ἰακὼβ Iakōb G2384 , the heirs with [ him ] of the same αὐτῆς· autēs G846 promise ἐπαγγελίας epangelias G1860 ; 10 for he waited for the city πόλιν polin G4172 which has foundations θεμελίους themelious G2310 , of which God θεός.¶ theos G2316 is [ the ] artificer and constructor. 11 By faith Πίστει Pistei G4102 also G2532 Sarah Σάρρα Sarra G4564 herself received G2983 strength for [ the ] conception of seed σπέρματος spermatos G4690 , and [ that ] beyond a seasonable age ; since she counted him faithful πιστὸν piston G4103 who promised G1861 . 12 Wherefore also G2532 there have been born G1080 of one ἑνὸς henos G1520 , and that of one G1520 become dead , even G2532 as the stars ἄστρα astra G798 of heaven οὐρανοῦ ouranou G3772 in multitude πλήθει plēthei G4128 , and as the countless sand ἄμμος ammos G285 which [ is ] by the sea θαλάσσης thalassēs G2281 shore. 14 For they who say λέγοντες legontes G3004 such τοιαῦτα toiauta G5108 things G5108 shew clearly that they seek ἐπιζητοῦσιν. epizētousin G1934 [ their ] country . 15 And if they had called to mind that from whence they went out , they had had opportunity καιρὸν kairon G2540 to have returned; 17 By faith Πίστει Pistei G4102 Abraham Ἀβραὰμ Abraam G11 , [ when ] tried , offered προσενήνοχεν prosenēnochen G4374 up Isaac Ἰσαὰκ Isaak G2464 , and he who had received to himself the promises G1860 offered προσέφερεν prosepheren G4374 up his only μονογενῆ monogenē G3439 begotten G3439 [son], 19 counting that God θεός, theos G2316 [ was ] able δυνατὸς dunatos G1415 to raise ἐγείρειν egeirein G1453 [ him ] even καὶ kai G2532 from among [ the ] dead νεκρῶν nekrōn G3498 , whence also καὶ kai G2532 he received G2865 him in a figure.
