Jeremiah 8:4-12
4So you are to tellH559 themH413 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 saysH559:
“Do men fallH5307 and notH3808 get up againH6965H518?Does one turn awayH7725 and notH3808 returnH7725?5WhyH4069 then have theseH2088 peopleH5971 turned awayH7725?Why does JerusalemH3389 always turn awayH4878H5329?They clingH2388 to deceitH8649;they refuseH3985 to returnH7725.6I have listenedH7181 and heardH8085;they do notH3808 speakH1696 what is rightH3651.NoH369 oneH376 repentsH5162 of hisH5921 wickednessH7451,askingH559, ‘WhatH4100 have I doneH6213?’EveryoneH3605 has pursuedH7725 his own courseH4794like a horseH5483 chargingH7857 into battleH4421.7EvenH1571 the storkH2624 in the skyH8064knowsH3045 her appointed seasonsH4150.The turtledoveH8449, the swiftH5483, and the thrushH56931keepH8104 their timeH6256 of migrationH935,but My peopleH5971 do notH3808 knowH3045the requirementsH4941 of the LORDH3068.
8HowH349 can you sayH559, ‘WeH587 are wiseH2450,and the LawH8451 of the LORDH3068 is with usH854,’when in factH403H2009 the lyingH8267 penH5842 of the scribesH5608has producedH6213 a deceptionH8267?9The wiseH2450 will be put to shameH954;they will be dismayedH2865 and trappedH3920.SinceH2009 they have rejectedH3988 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068,whatH4100 wisdomH2451 do they really have?
10ThereforeH3651 I will giveH5414 their wivesH802 to other menH312and their fieldsH7704 to new ownersH3423.ForH3588 from the leastH6996 of them toH5704 the greatestH1419,allH3605 are greedyH1214 for gainH1215;from prophetH5030 toH5704 priestH3548,allH3605 practiceH6213 deceitH8267.11They dressH7495 the woundH7667 of the daughterH1323 of My peopleH5971H5921with very little careH7043,sayingH559, ‘PeaceH7965, peaceH7965,’when there is noH369 peaceH7965 at all.12Are they ashamedH954 of the abominationH3588 they have committedH6213?NoH1571, they have noH3808 shameH954 at allH954;they do not evenH3808 know howH3045 to blushH3637.SoH3651 they will fallH5307 among the fallenH5307;whenH6256 I punish themH6486, they will collapseH3782,saysH559 the LORDH3068.
