2 Peter 2

1But there aroseG1096 falseG5578 prophetsG5578 alsoG2532 among the peopleG2992, as among you alsoG2532 there shall beG1510 falseG5578 teachers, who shall privily bring in destructive heresies, denyingG720 evenG2532 the MasterG1203 that boughtG59 them, bringing upon themselves swift destructionG684.

2And manyG4183 shall followG1811 their lascivious doings; by reason of whom the wayG3598 of the truthG225 shall be evil spoken of.

3And in covetousnessG4124 shall they with feigned wordsG3056 make merchandise of you: whose sentence now from of old lingereth not, and their destructionG684 slumbereth not.

4For if GodG2316 spared not angelsG32 when they sinnedG264, but cast them down to hell, and committed them to pits of darknessG2217, to be reserved unto judgmentG2920;

5and spared not the ancientG744 worldG2889, but preserved NoahG3575 with seven others, a preacher of righteousnessG1343, when he brought a floodG2627 upon the worldG2889 of the ungodlyG765;

6and turning the citiesG4172 of SodomG4670 and GomorrahG1116 into ashes condemnedG2632 them with an overthrow, having made them an exampleG5262 unto those that should live ungodlyG765;

7and deliveredG4506 righteousG1342 LotG3091, sore distressed by the lascivious lifeG391 of the wicked

8(for that righteousG1342 manG1342 dwelling among them, in seeing and hearingG189, vexed his righteousG1342 soulG5590 from dayG2250 to dayG2250 with their lawlessG459 deedsG2041):

9the LordG2962 knoweth how to deliverG4506 the godly out of temptationG3986, and to keepG5083 the unrighteousG94 under punishment unto the dayG2250 of judgmentG2920;

10but chiefly them that walk after the fleshG4561 in the lustG1939 of defilement, and despiseG2706 dominion. Daring, self-willed, they tremble not to rail at dignities:

11whereas angelsG32, though greaterG3173 in might and powerG1411, bringG5342 not a railing judgmentG2920 against them before the LordG2962.

12But these, as creaturesG2226 without reason, bornG1080 mere animalsG2226 to be taken and destroyed, railing in matters whereof they are ignorantG50, shall in their destroying surely be destroyed,

13suffering wrongG91 as the hire of wrong-doing; men that count it pleasure to revel in the day-time, spots and blemishes, revelling in their deceivings while they feastG4910 with you;

14having eyesG3788 fullG3324 of adultery, and that cannot cease from sinG266; enticing unstedfast soulsG5590; having a heartG2588 exercised in covetousnessG4124; childrenG5043 of cursingG2671;

15forsaking the right wayG3598, they went astrayG4105, having followedG1811 the wayG3598 of BalaamG903 the son of Beor, who lovedG25 the hire of wrong-doing;

16but he was rebuked for his ownG2398 transgression: a dumb ass spake with man’sG444 voiceG5456 and stayed the madness of the prophetG4396.

17These areG1510 springsG4077 without waterG504, and mists driven by a stormG2978; for whom the blackness of darknessG4655 hath beenG1510 reserved.

18For, uttering great swelling words of vanity, they entice in the lustsG1939 of the fleshG4561, by lasciviousness, those who are just escaping from them that live in errorG4106;

19promisingG1861 them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for of whom a manG3778 is overcome, of the sameG846 is he alsoG2532 brought into bondageG1402.

20For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the worldG2889 through the knowledgeG1922 of the LordG2962 and Saviour JesusG2424 ChristG5547, they are againG3825 entangled therein and overcome, the lastG2078 state is becomeG1096 worse with them than the firstG4413.

21For it wereG1510 better for them not to have knownG1921 the wayG3598 of righteousnessG1343, than, after knowing it, to turn backG5290 from the holyG40 commandmentG1785 deliveredG3860 unto them.

22It has happenedG4819 unto them according to the trueG227 proverb, The dogG2965 turningG1994 to his ownG2398 vomit again, and the sow that had washedG3068 to wallowing in the mire.
