2 Kings 16
American Standard Version
1In the seventeenth yearH8141 of PekahH6492 the sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425 AhazH271 the sonH1121 of JothamH3147 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 began to reignH4427. 2TwentyH6242 yearsH8141 old was AhazH271 when he began to reignH4427; and he reignedH4427 sixteen yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389: and he did not that which was rightH3477 in the eyesH5869 of Jehovah his GodH430, like DavidH1732 his fatherH1. 3But he walked in the wayH1870 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478, yea, and made his sonH1121 to passH5674 through the fireH784, according to the abominationsH8441 of the nationsH1471, whom Jehovah cast out from before the children of IsraelH3478. 4And he sacrificedH2076 and burnt incenseH6999 in the highH1116 placesH1116, and on the hillsH1389, and under every green treeH6086.
5ThenH227 RezinH7526 kingH4428 of Syria and PekahH6492 sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 cameH5927 up to JerusalemH3389 to warH4421: and they besieged AhazH271, but could not overcome him. 6At that timeH6256 RezinH7526 kingH4428 of Syria recovered ElathH359 to Syria, and drove the JewsH3064 from ElathH359; and the Syrians cameH935 to ElathH359, and dweltH3427 there, unto this dayH3117.
7So AhazH271 sentH7971 messengersH4397 to Tiglath-pileserH8407 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, sayingH559, I am thy servantH5650 and thy sonH1121: comeH5927 up, and saveH3467 me out of the handH3709 of the kingH4428 of Syria, and out of the handH3709 of the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, who riseH6965 up against me. 8And AhazH271 tookH3947 the silverH3701 and goldH2091 that was foundH4672 in the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and in the treasuresH214 of the king’sH4428 houseH1004, and sentH7971 it for a present to the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804. 9And the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 hearkened unto him; and the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 wentH5927 up against DamascusH1834, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to KirH7024, and slew RezinH7526.
10And kingH4428 AhazH271 went to DamascusH1834 to meet Tiglath-pileserH8407 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, and sawH7200 the altarH4196 that was at DamascusH1834; and kingH4428 AhazH271 sentH7971 to Urijah the priestH3548 the fashion of the altarH4196, and the patternH8403 of it, according to all the workmanshipH4639 thereof. 11And Urijah the priestH3548 builtH1129 an altarH4196: according to all that kingH4428 AhazH271 had sentH7971 from DamascusH1834, soH3651 did Urijah the priestH3548 makeH6213 it against the comingH935 of kingH4428 AhazH271 from DamascusH1834. 12And when the kingH4428 was comeH935 from DamascusH1834, the kingH4428 sawH7200 the altarH4196: and the kingH4428 drewH7126 near unto the altarH4196, and offeredH5927 thereon. 13And he burnt his burnt-offering and his meal-offering, and poured his drink-offering, and sprinkledH2236 the bloodH1818 of his peace-offerings, upon the altarH4196. 14And the brazen altarH4196, which was before Jehovah, he broughtH7126 from the forefront of the houseH1004, from between his altarH4196 and the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and putH5414 it on the northH6828 sideH3409 of his altarH4196. 15And kingH4428 AhazH271 commandedH6680 Urijah the priestH3548, sayingH559, Upon the greatH1419 altarH4196 burn the morningH1242 burnt-offering, and the eveningH6153 meal-offering, and the king’sH4428 burnt-offering, and his meal-offering, with the burnt-offering of all the peopleH5971 of the landH776, and their meal-offering, and their drink-offerings; and sprinkleH2236 upon it all the bloodH1818 of the burnt-offering, and all the bloodH1818 of the sacrificeH2077: but the brazen altarH4196 shall beH1961 for me to inquire by. 16Thus did Urijah the priestH3548, according to all that kingH4428 AhazH271 commandedH6680.
17And kingH4428 AhazH271 cutH7112 off the panels of the bases, and removedH5493 the laver from off them, and took down the seaH3220 from off the brazen oxenH1241 that were under it, and putH5414 it upon a pavement of stoneH68. 18And the covered way for the sabbathH7676 that they had builtH1129 in the houseH1004, and the king’sH4428 entry without, turnedH5437 he unto the houseH1004 of Jehovah, because of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804. 19Now the restH3499 of the acts of AhazH271 which he did, are they not writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 of the chronicles of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063? 20And AhazH271 slept with his fathersH1, and was buriedH6912 with his fathersH1 in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732: and HezekiahH2396 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his stead.
