1 Samuel 25:14-31
14But oneH259 of the youngH5288 menH5288 toldH5046 AbigailH26, Nabal’s wifeH802, sayingH559, Behold, DavidH1732 sentH7971 messengersH4397 out of the wildernessH4057 to salute our masterH113; and he railed at them. 15But the menH376 wereH1961 veryH3966 goodH2896 unto us, and we wereH1961 not hurt, neither missedH6485 we anything, as long as we wentH1980 with them, when we wereH1961 in the fieldsH7704: 16they wereH1961 a wallH2346 unto us both by nightH3915 and by dayH3117, all the while we wereH1961 with them keeping the sheepH6629. 17NowH6258 thereforeH6258 knowH3045 and considerH7200 what thou wilt do; for evilH7451 is determined against our masterH113, and against all his houseH1004: for he is such a worthlessH1100 fellow, that one cannot speakH1696 to him.
18Then AbigailH26 madeH6213 hasteH4116, and tookH3947 twoH8147 hundredH3967 loaves, and twoH8147 bottles of wineH3196, and fiveH2568 sheepH6629 ready dressed, and fiveH2568 measures of parched grainH7039, and a hundredH3967 clusters of raisinsH6778, and twoH8147 hundredH3967 cakesH1690 of figsH1690, and laid them on asses. 19And she saidH559 unto her youngH5288 menH376, GoH935 on before me; behold, I comeH935 after you. But she toldH5046 not her husbandH376 NabalH5037. 20And it wasH1961 so, as she rodeH7392 on her ass, and came downH3381 by the covert of the mountainH2022, that, behold, DavidH1732 and his menH376 came downH3381 toward her; and she metH6298 them. 21Now DavidH1732 had saidH559, SurelyH389 in vain have I keptH8104 all that this fellow hath in the wildernessH4057, so that nothing was missedH6485 of all that pertained unto him: and he hath returnedH7725 me evilH7451 for goodH2896. 22GodH430 do so unto the enemiesH341 of DavidH1732, and more also, if I leaveH7604 of all that pertain to him by the morningH1242 light so much as one man-child.
23And when AbigailH26 sawH7200 DavidH1732, she hasted, and alighted from her ass, and fellH5307 before DavidH1732 on her faceH6440, and bowedH7812 herself to the groundH776. 24And she fellH5307 at his feetH7272, and saidH559, Upon me, my lordH113, upon me be the iniquityH5771; and let thy handmaid, I pray thee, speakH1696 in thine earsH241, and hearH8085 thou the wordsH1697 of thy handmaid. 25Let not my lordH113, I pray thee, regard this worthlessH1100 fellow, even NabalH5037; for as his nameH8034 is, soH3651 is he; NabalH5037 is his nameH8034, and follyH5039 is with him: but I thy handmaid sawH7200 not the youngH5288 menH376 of my lordH113, whom thou didst sendH7971. 26NowH6258 thereforeH6258, my lord, as Jehovah liveth, and as thy soulH5315 liveth, seeing Jehovah hath withholden thee from bloodguiltiness, and from avenging thyself with thine own handH3027, nowH6258 thereforeH6258 let thine enemiesH341, and them that seekH1245 evilH7451 to my lord, beH1961 as NabalH5037. 27And nowH6258 this present which thy servantH5288 hath broughtH935 unto my lordH113, let it be givenH5414 unto the youngH5288 menH5288 that follow my lordH113. 28ForgiveH5375, I pray thee, the trespass of thy handmaid: for Jehovah will certainly makeH6213 my lord a sure houseH1004, because my lord fighteth the battlesH4421 of Jehovah; and evilH7451 shall not be foundH4672 in thee all thy daysH3117. 29And though menH120 beH1961 risenH6965 up to pursueH7291 thee, and to seekH1245 thy soulH5315, yet the soulH5315 of my lord shall beH1961 bound in the bundle of lifeH5315 with Jehovah thy GodH430; and the soulsH5315 of thine enemiesH341, them shall he sling out, as from the hollow of a sling. 30And it shall come to pass, when Jehovah shall have done to my lord according to all the goodH2896 that he hath spokenH1696 concerning thee, and shall have appointedH6680 thee princeH5057 over IsraelH3478, 31that this shall beH1961 no grief unto thee, nor offence of heartH3820 unto my lord, either that thou hast shedH8210 bloodH1818 without causeH2600, or that my lord hath avenged himself. And when Jehovah shall have dealt wellH3190 with my lord, then rememberH2142 thy handmaid.
