39Now when Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֤רvay.da.BerH1696theseהָאֵ֔לֶּהha.'E.lehH428wordsהַדְּבָרִ֣יםha.de.va.RimH1697to allכָּל־kol-H3605the sonsבְּנֵ֖יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971mournedוַיִּֽתְאַבְּל֥וּvai.yit.'a.be.LuH56greatlyמְאֹֽד׃me.'OdH3966.

40In the morningבַבֹּ֔קֶרva.Bo.kerH1242,however, they gotH7925upH7925earlyוַיַּשְׁכִּ֣מוּvai.yash.Ki.muH7925and wentH5927upH5927to theridgeרֹאשׁ־rosh-H7218of the hillהָהָ֖רha.HarH2022countryH2022,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “HereH2009we are; and we will goH5927upH5927to the placeהַמָּק֛וֹםha.ma.KomH4725whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068haspromisedאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559, forwe have sinnedחָטָֽאנוּ׃cha.Ta.nuH2398.”

41But Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whyלָ֥מָּהLa.mahH4100thenזֶּ֛הzehH2088are youviolatingעֹבְרִ֖ים'oe.RimH5674thecommandפִּ֣יpiH6310of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, when doing sowill not succeedתִצְלָֽח׃titz.LachH6743?

42Do not goתַּעֲל֔וּta.'a.LuH5927upH5927,for the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068is not amongבְּקִרְבְּכֶ֑םbe.kir.be.KhemH7130you,to preventוְלֹא֙ve.Lo'H3808you from being defeatedתִּנָּ֣גְפ֔וּti.Na.ge.FuH5062by your enemiesH340.

43For the Amalekitesהָעֲמָלֵקִ֨יha.'a.mal.KiH6003and the Canaanitesוְהַכְּנַעֲנִ֥יve.ha.ke.na.'a.NiH3669will be thereשָׁם֙shamH8033to confrontלִפְנֵיכֶ֔םlif.nei.KhemH6440you, and you will fallוּנְפַלְתֶּ֖םu.ne.fal.TemH5307by the swordבֶּחָ֑רֶבbe.Cha.revH2719,sinceעַל־ כֵּ֤ן'al- kenH3588 H5921 H3651you have turnedH7725backשַׁבְתֶּם֙shav.TemH7725from followingמֵאַחֲרֵ֣יme.'a.cha.ReiH310the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068.And the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068will not be with you.”

44But they foolishlydaredוַיַּעְפִּ֕לוּvai.ya'.Pi.luH6075to goלַעֲל֖וֹתla.'a.LotH5927upH5927to theridgeרֹ֣אשׁroshH7218of the hillהָהָ֑רha.HarH2022countryH2022;neitherH3808the arkוַאֲר֤וֹןva.'a.RonH727of the covenantבְּרִית־be.rit-H1285of the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068norH3808Mosesוּמֹשֶׁ֔הu.mo.ShehH4872leftמָ֖שׁוּMa.shuH4185the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃Ha.ma.cha.NehH4264.

45Then the Amalekitesהָעֲמָלֵקִי֙ha.'a.mal.KiH6003and the Canaanitesוְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔יve.ha.ke.na.'a.NiH3669who livedהַיֹּשֵׁ֖בhai.yo.ShevH3427in that hillבָּהָ֣רba.HarH2022countryH2022cameH3381downוַיֵּ֤רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381,and struckוַיַּכּ֥וּםvai.ya.KumH5221them and scatteredוַֽיַּכְּת֖וּםvai.ya.ke.TumH3807them as farעַד־'ad-H5704asHormahהַֽחָרְמָֽה׃ פHa.cha.re.MahH2767.
