8The disciplesμαθηταί·mathētaiG3101saidλέγουσινlegousinG3004to Him, “Rabbiῥαββί,rhabbiG4461,the JewsἸουδαῖοι,IoudaioiG2453were justG3568nowνῦνnunG3568seekingἐζήτουνezētounG2212to stoneλιθάσαιlithasaiG3034You, and yetYou are goingὑπάγειςhupageisG5217thereἐκεῖ;¶ekeiG1563againπάλινpalinG3825?”

9JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424repliedἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611, “Are thereG1563not twelveδώδεκαdōdekaG1427hoursὧραίhōraiG5610in the dayἡμέρας;hēmerasG2250?IfἐάνeanG1437anyoneτιςtisG5100walksπεριπατῇperipatēaG4043duringἐνenG1722the dayἡμέρᾳ,hēmeraG2250,he does not stumbleπροσκόπτει,proskopteiG4350,becauseὅτιhotiG3754he seesβλέπει.blepeiG991the lightφῶςphōsG5457of thisτούτουtoutouG3778worldκόσμουkosmouG2889.

10But ifἐὰνeanG1437anyoneτιςtisG5100walksπεριπατῇperipatēaG4043duringG1722the nightνυκτί,nuktiG3571,he stumblesπροσκόπτει,proskopteiG4350,becauseὅτιhotiG3754the lightφῶςphōsG5457is not in him.”

11ThisταῦταtautaG3778He saidλέγειlegeiG3004,and afterμετὰmetaG3326thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778He saidG3004to them, “OurfriendφίλοςphilosG5384LazarusΛάζαροςLazarosG2976has fallenG2837asleepκεκοίμηται·kekoimētaiG2837;but I am goingπορεύομαιporeuomaiG4198soG2443thatG2443I may awakenG1852him fromG1852sleepG1852.”

12The disciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101thenοὖνounG3767saidG3004to Him, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,ifεἰeiG1487he has fallenG2837asleepκεκοίμηται,kekoimētaiG2837, he willcomeG4982outG4982ofG4982itG4982.”

13NowG1161JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424had spokenG3004of his deathθανάτουthanatouG2288,but they thoughtἔδοξανedoxanG1380that He was speakingG3004aboutG4012actualκοιμήσεωςkoimēseōsG2838sleepὕπνουhupnouG5258.

14SoG3767JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424thenG3767saidG3004to them plainlyπαρρησίᾳ·parrēsiaG3954,“LazarusΛάζαροςLazarosG2976diedἀπέθανεν.apethanenG599,

15and I amG5463gladG5463for your sakesδι᾽di᾽G1223that I was not thereἐκεῖ·ekeiG1563,soG2443thatG2443you may believeπιστεύσητε,pisteusēteG4100;but let’s goἄγωμενagōmenG71to him.”

16ThereforeοὖνounG3767ThomasΘωμᾶςThōmasG2381,who was calledG3004DidymusΔίδυμοςDidumosG1324,saidG3004to hisfellowG4827disciplesG4827, “Let’s alsoκαὶkaiG2532goἄγωμενagōmenG71,soG2443thatG2443we may dieἀποθάνωμενapothanōmenG599with Him!”
