8The disciplesμαθηταί·mathētaiG3101saidλέγουσινlegousinG3004to Him, “Rabbiῥαββί,rhabbiG4461,the JewsἸουδαῖοι,IoudaioiG2453were justG3568nowνῦνnunG3568seekingἐζήτουνezētounG2212to stoneλιθάσαιlithasaiG3034You, and are You goingὑπάγειςhupageisG5217thereἐκεῖ;¶ekeiG1563againπάλινpalinG3825?”

9JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424answeredἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611, “Are thereG1563not twelveδώδεκαdōdekaG1427hoursὧραίhōraiG5610in the dayἡμέρας;hēmerasG2250?IfἐάνeanG1437anyoneτιςtisG5100walksπεριπατῇperipatēaG4043in the dayἡμέρᾳ,hēmeraG2250,he does not stumbleπροσκόπτει,proskopteiG4350,becauseὅτιhotiG3754he seesβλέπει.blepeiG991the lightφῶςphōsG5457of thisτούτουtoutouG3778worldκόσμουkosmouG2889.

10But ifἐὰνeanG1437anyoneτιςtisG5100walksπεριπατῇperipatēaG4043in the nightνυκτί,nuktiG3571,he stumblesπροσκόπτει,proskopteiG4350,becauseὅτιhotiG3754the lightφῶςphōsG5457is not in him.”

11ThisG3778He saidλέγειlegeiG3004,and afterμετὰmetaG3326that He saidG3004to them, “OurfriendφίλοςphilosG5384LazarusΛάζαροςLazarosG2976has fallenG2837asleepκεκοίμηται·kekoimētaiG2837;but I goπορεύομαιporeuomaiG4198,soἵναinaG2443that I may awakenG1852him out of sleepG1852.”

12The disciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101thenοὖνounG3767saidG3004to Him, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,ifεἰeiG1487he has fallenG2837asleepκεκοίμηται,kekoimētaiG2837, he willrecoverσωθήσεται.sōthēsetaiG4982.”

13NowG1161JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424had spokenG3004of his deathθανάτουthanatouG2288,but they thoughtἔδοξανedoxanG1380that He was speakingG3004ofliteralκοιμήσεωςkoimēseōsG2838sleepὕπνουhupnouG5258.

14SoG3767JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424thenG3767saidG3004to them plainlyπαρρησίᾳ·parrēsiaG3954,“LazarusΛάζαροςLazarosG2976is deadἀπέθανεν.apethanenG599,

15and I amG5463gladG5463for your sakesδι᾽di᾽G1223that I was not thereἐκεῖ·ekeiG1563,soἵναinaG2443that you may believeπιστεύσητε,pisteusēteG4100;but let us goἄγωμενagōmenG71to him.”

16ThereforeοὖνounG3767ThomasΘωμᾶςThōmasG2381,who is calledG3004DidymusΔίδυμοςDidumosG1324,saidG3004to hisfellowG4827disciplesG4827, “Let us alsoκαὶkaiG2532goἄγωμενagōmenG71,soG3767that we may dieἀποθάνωμενapothanōmenG599with Him.”
