12Then his brothersאֶחָ֑יו'e.ChavH251wentוַיֵּלְכ֖וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980to pastureלִרְע֛וֹתlir.'otH7462their father’sאֲבִיהֶ֖ם'a.vi.HemH1flockצֹ֥אןtzonH6629in Shechemבִּשְׁכֶֽם׃bish.KhemH7927.

13And Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֜לYis.ra.'ElH3478saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Josephיוֹסֵ֗ףyo.SefH3130, “Are your brothersאַחֶ֙יךָ֙'a.Chei.khaH251not pasturingרֹעִ֣יםro.'ImH7462the flock inShechemבִּשְׁכֶ֔םbish.KhemH7927?Comeלְכָ֖הle.KhahH1980,and I will sendוְאֶשְׁלָחֲךָ֣ve.'esh.la.cha.KhaH7971you to them.” And he saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “I will goהִנֵּֽנִי׃hi.Ne.niH2009.”

14Then he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Goלֶךְ־lekh-H1980nowנָ֨אna'H4994and seeרְאֵ֜הre.'EhH7200aboutH7200the welfareשְׁל֤וֹםshe.LomH7965of your brothersאַחֶ֙יךָ֙'a.Chei.khaH251and the welfareשְׁל֣וֹםshe.LomH7965of the flockהַצֹּ֔אןha.TzonH6629,and bringוַהֲשִׁבֵ֖נִיva.ha.shi.Ve.niH7725wordדָּבָ֑רda.VarH1697backH7725to me.” So he sentוַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֙הוּ֙vai.yish.la.Che.huH7971him from the Valleyמֵעֵ֣מֶקme.'E.mekH6010ofHebronחֶבְר֔וֹןchev.RonH2275,and he cameוַיָּבֹ֖אvai.ya.Vo'H935to Shechemשְׁכֶֽמָה׃she.Khe.mahH7927.

15A manאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376foundוַיִּמְצָאֵ֣הוּvai.yim.tza.'E.huH4672him, and beholdוְהִנֵּ֥הve.hi.NehH2009,he was wanderingתֹעֶ֖הto.'EhH8582in the fieldבַּשָּׂדֶ֑הba.sa.DehH7704;and the manהָאִ֛ישׁha.'IshH376askedוַיִּשְׁאָלֵ֧הוּvai.yish.'a.Le.huH7592him, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100are you lookingH1245forH1245?”

16He saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “I am lookingH1245forH1245my brothersאַחַ֖י'a.ChaiH251;pleaseנָּ֣אna'H4994tellהַגִּֽידָה־ha.gi.dah-H5046me whereאֵיפֹ֖ה'ei.FohH375they are pasturingרֹעִֽים׃ro.'ImH7462the flock.”

17Then the manהָאִישׁ֙ha.'IshH376saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “They have movedנָסְע֣וּna.se.'UH5265from hereמִזֶּ֔הmi.ZehH2088;for I heardשָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙sha.Ma'.tiH8085themsayאֹֽמְרִ֔ים'o.me.RimH559, ‘Let’s goנֵלְכָ֖הne.le.KhahH1980toDothanדֹּתָ֑יְנָהdo.Ta.ye.nahH1886.’”So Josephיוֹסֵף֙yo.SefH3130wentוַיֵּ֤לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980after his brothersאֶחָ֔יו'e.ChavH251and foundוַיִּמְצָאֵ֖םvai.yim.tza.'EmH4672them at Dothanבְּדֹתָֽן׃be.do.TanH1886.

18When they sawוַיִּרְא֥וּvai.yir.'UH7200him from a distanceמֵרָחֹ֑קme.ra.ChokH7350,and beforeוּבְטֶ֙רֶם֙u.ve.Te.remH2962he cameH7126closerH7126to them, theyplottedוַיִּֽתְנַכְּל֥וּvai.yit.na.ke.LuH5230againstH854him to putH4191him toH4191deathH4191.

19They saidוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to oneאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376anotherאָחִ֑יו'a.ChivH251, “Hereהִנֵּ֗הhi.NehH2009comesבָּֽא׃Ba'H935thisהַלָּזֶ֖הha.la.ZehH1976dreamerבַּ֛עַל הַחֲלֹמ֥וֹתBa.'al ha.cha.lo.MotH1167 H2472!

20Nowוְעַתָּ֣ה׀ve.'a.TahH6258then, comeלְכ֣וּle.KhuH1980and let’s killוְנַֽהַרְגֵ֗הוּve.na.har.Ge.huH2026him, and throwוְנַשְׁלִכֵ֙הוּ֙ve.nash.li.Khe.huH7993him into oneבְּאַחַ֣דbe.'a.ChadH259of the pitsהַבֹּר֔וֹתha.bo.RotH953; andwe will sayוְאָמַ֕רְנוּve.'a.Mar.nuH559, ‘A viciousרָעָ֖הra.'AhH7451animalH2421devouredאֲכָלָ֑תְהוּ'a.kha.La.te.huH398him.’ Then we will seeוְנִרְאֶ֕הve.nir.'EhH7200whatמַה־mah-H4100will becomeיִּהְי֖וּyih.YuH1961of his dreamsחֲלֹמֹתָֽיו׃cha.lo.mo.TavH2472!”

21ButReubenרְאוּבֵ֔ןre.'u.VenH7205heardוַיִּשְׁמַ֣עvai.yish.Ma'H8085thisand rescuedוַיַּצִּלֵ֖הוּvai.ya.tzi.Le.huH5337him out of their handsמִיָּדָ֑םmi.ya.DamH3027by sayingוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Let’s nottakeנַכֶּ֖נּוּna.Ke.nuH5221his lifeנָֽפֶשׁ׃Na.feshH5315.”

22Then Reubenרְאוּבֵן֮re.'u.VenH7205saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Shedתִּשְׁפְּכוּ־tish.pe.khu-H8210noH408bloodדָם֒damH1818.Throwהַשְׁלִ֣יכוּhash.Li.khuH7993him into thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088pitהַבּ֤וֹרha.BorH953that is in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֔רba.mid.BarH4057,but do not layתִּשְׁלְחוּ־tish.le.chu-H7971a handוְיָ֖דve.YadH3027on him”--soלְמַ֗עַןle.Ma.'anH4616thatH4616laterhe might rescueהַצִּ֤ילha.TzilH5337him out of their handsמִיָּדָ֔םmi.ya.DamH3027,to returnלַהֲשִׁיב֖וֹla.ha.shi.VoH7725him to his fatherאָבִֽיו׃'a.VivH1.
