37Then Jacobיַעֲקֹ֗בya.'a.KoH3290tookוַיִּֽקַּֽח־vai.yi.kach-H3947freshלַ֖חlachH3892rodsמַקַּ֥לma.KalH4731of poplarלִבְנֶ֛הliv.NehH3839,almondוְל֣וּזve.LuzH3869,and planeוְעֶרְמ֑וֹןve.'er.MonH6196treesH6196,and peeledוַיְפַצֵּ֤לvay.fa.TzelH6478whiteלְבָנ֔וֹתle.va.NotH3836stripesפְּצָל֣וֹתpe.tza.LotH6479in them, exposingמַחְשֹׂף֙mach.SofH4286the whiteהַלָּבָ֔ןha.la.VanH3836that wasin the rodsהַמַּקְלֽוֹת׃ha.mak.LotH4731.

38He setוַיַּצֵּ֗גvai.ya.TzegH3322the rodsהַמַּקְלוֹת֙ha.mak.loTH4731whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834he had peeledפִּצֵּ֔לpi.TzelH6478in frontלְנֹ֣כַחle.No.khachH5227of the flocksהַצֹּ֤אןha.TzonH6629in the drinkingבָּרֳהָטִ֖יםbo.ro.ha.TimH7298troughsH7298, that is,in the wateringהַמָּ֑יִםha.Ma.yimH4325channelsבְּשִֽׁקֲת֣וֹתbe.shi.ka.TotH8268whereאֲשֶׁר֩'a.SherH834the flocksהַצֹּ֔אןha.TzonH6629cameתָּבֹ֨אןָta.Vo.naH935to drinkלִשְׁתּוֹת֙lish.toTH8354;and they matedוַיֵּחַ֖מְנָהvai.ye.Cham.nahH3179when they cameבְּבֹאָ֥ןbe.vo.'AnH935to drinkלִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃lish.TotH8354.

39So the flocksהַצֹּ֖אןha.TzonH6629matedוַיֶּחֱמ֥וּvai.ye.che.MuH3179by the rodsהַמַּקְל֑וֹתha.mak.LotH4731,and the flocksהַצֹּ֔אןha.TzonH6629deliveredוַתֵּלַ֣דְןָva.te.Lad.naH3205stripedעֲקֻדִּ֥ים'a.ku.DimH6124,speckledנְקֻדִּ֖יםne.ku.DimH5348,and spottedוּטְלֻאִֽים׃u.te.lu.'ImH2921offspring.

40Then Jacobיַעֲקֹב֒ya.'a.KoH3290separatedהִפְרִ֣ידhif.RidH6504the lambsוְהַכְּשָׂבִים֮ve.ha.ke.sa.VimH3775, andmadeוַ֠יִּתֵּןVai.yi.tenH5414the flocksהַצֹּ֧אןha.TzonH6629faceפְּנֵ֨יpe.NeiH6440towardאֶל־'el-H413the stripedעָקֹ֛ד'a.KodH6124and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the blackח֖וּםchumH2345in the flockבְּצֹ֣אןbe.TzonH6629of Labanלָבָ֑ןla.VanH3837;and he putוַיָּֽשֶׁת־vai.ya.shet-H7896his own herdsעֲדָרִים֙'a.da.RimH5739apartלְבַדּ֔וֹle.va.DoH905,and did not putשָׁתָ֖םsha.TamH7896them with Laban’sלָבָֽן׃la.VanH3837flockצֹ֥אןtzonH6629.

41Moreover, wheneverבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the strongerהַמְקֻשָּׁרוֹת֒ham.ku.sha.roTH7194of the flockהַצֹּ֣אןha.TzonH6629were matingיַחֵם֮ya.ChemH3179,Jacobיַעֲקֹ֧בya.'a.KoH3290would placeוְשָׂ֨םve.SamH7760the rodsהַמַּקְל֛וֹתha.mak.LotH4731in the sightלְעֵינֵ֥יle.'ei.NeiH5869of the flockהַצֹּ֖אןha.TzonH6629in the drinkingבָּרֳהָטִ֑יםbo.ro.ha.TimH7298troughsH7298,so that they would mateלְיַחְמֵ֖נָּהle.yach.Me.nahH3179by the rodsבַּמַּקְלֽוֹת׃ba.mak.LotH4731;

42but when the flockהַצֹּ֖אןha.TzonH6629was sicklyוּבְהַעֲטִ֥יףu.ve.ha.'a.TifH5848,he did not putיָשִׂ֑יםya.SimH7760themin; so the sicklyהָעֲטֻפִים֙ha.'a.tu.FimH5848were Laban’sלְלָבָ֔ןle.la.VanH3837,and the strongerוְהַקְּשֻׁרִ֖יםve.ha.ke.shu.RimH7194wereJacob’sלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃le.ya.'a.KoH3290.

43Sothe manהָאִ֖ישׁha.'IshH376becameH6555exceedinglyH3966prosperousH6555,and hadוַֽיְהִי־vay.hi-H1961largeרַבּ֔וֹתra.BotH7227flocksצֹ֣אןtzonH6629,and femaleוּשְׁפָחוֹת֙u.she.fa.choTH8198and maleוַעֲבָדִ֔יםva.'a.va.DimH5650servantsH5650 H8198,and camelsוּגְמַלִּ֖יםu.ge.ma.LimH1581and donkeysוַחֲמֹרִֽים׃va.cha.mo.RimH2543.
