8And the childהַיֶּ֖לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206grewוַיִּגְדַּ֥לvai.yig.DalH1431and was weanedוַיִּגָּמַ֑לvai.yi.ga.MalH1580,and Abrahamאַבְרָהָם֙'av.ra.HamH85heldוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213a greatגָד֔וֹלga.DolH1419feastמִשְׁתֶּ֣הmish.TehH4960on the dayבְּי֖וֹםbe.YomH3117that Isaacיִצְחָֽק׃yitz.ChakH3327was weanedהִגָּמֵ֥לhi.ga.MelH1580.

9Now Sarahשָׂרָ֜הsa.RahH8283sawוַתֵּ֨רֶאva.Te.re'H7200the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Hagarהָגָ֧רha.GarH1904the Egyptianהַמִּצְרִ֛יתha.mitz.RitH4713,whomאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834she had borneיָלְדָ֥הYal.dahH3205to Abrahamלְאַבְרָהָ֖םle.'av.ra.HamH85,mockingמְצַחֵֽק׃me.tza.ChekH6711Isaac.

10Therefore she saidוַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙va.To.merH559to Abrahamלְאַבְרָהָ֔םle.'av.ra.HamH85, “Driveגָּרֵ֛שׁga.ReshH1644outH1644thisH2088slaveהָאָמָ֥הha.'a.MahH519womanהָאָמָ֣הha.'a.MahH519and her sonבְּנָ֑הּbe.NahH1121,for the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of thisH2088slaveH519womanH519shall not beH3423anH3423heirH3423with my sonבְּנִ֖יbe.NiH1121Isaacיִצְחָֽק׃yitz.ChakH3327!”

11The matterהַדָּבָ֛רha.da.VarH1697distressedוַיֵּ֧רַעvai.Ye.ra'H7489Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֑ם'av.ra.HamH85greatlyמְאֹ֖דme.'OdH3966becauseעַ֖ל אוֹדֹ֥ת'al 'o.DotH5921 H182of his sonבְּנֽוֹ׃be.NoH1121Ishmael.

12But Godאֱלֹהִ֜ים'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֗ם'av.ra.HamH85, “Do not be distressedיֵרַ֤עye.Ra'H7489becauseH5921of the boyהַנַּ֣עַרha.Na.'arH5288and your slaveאֲמָתֶ֔ךָ'a.ma.Te.khaH519womanH519;whateverכֹּל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨רkol 'a.SherH3605 H834Sarahשָׂרָ֖הsa.RahH8283tellsתֹּאמַ֥רto.MarH559you, listenשְׁמַ֣עshe.Ma'H8085to her, forthroughH4480Isaacבְיִצְחָ֔קve.yitz.ChakH3327your descendantsזָֽרַע׃Za.ra'H2233shall be namedיִקָּרֵ֥אyi.ka.Re'H7121.

13And ofthe sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of the slaveהָאָמָ֖הha.'a.MahH519womanH519I will makeאֲשִׂימֶ֑נּוּ'a.si.Me.nuH7760a nationלְג֣וֹיle.GoyH1471alsoוְגַ֥םve.GamH1571,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588he is yourdescendantזַרְעֲךָ֖zar.'a.KhaH2233.”

14So Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֣ם׀'av.ra.HamH85gotH7925upH7925earlyוַיַּשְׁכֵּ֣םvai.yash.KemH7925in the morningבַּבֹּ֡קֶרba.Bo.kerH1242and tookוַיִּֽקַּֽח־vai.yi.kach-H3947breadלֶחֶם֩le.ChemH3899and askinוְחֵ֨מַתve.Che.matH2573of waterמַ֜יִםMa.yimH4325,and gaveוַיִּתֵּ֣ןvai.yi.TenH5414themto Hagarהָ֠גָרHa.gorH1904,puttingשָׂ֧םsamH7760themon her shoulderשִׁכְמָ֛הּshikh.MahH7926, and gave herthe boyהַיֶּ֖לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206,and sentH7971her awayוַֽיְשַׁלְּחֶ֑הָvay.sha.le.Che.haH7971.And she departedוַתֵּ֣לֶךְva.Te.lekhH1980and wanderedוַתֵּ֔תַעva.Te.ta'H8582aboutH8582in the wildernessבְּמִדְבַּ֖רbe.mid.BarH4057of BeershebaH884.

15When the waterהַמַּ֖יִםha.Ma.yimH4325in the skinהַחֵ֑מֶתha.Che.metH2573was usedH3615upH3615, sheleftוַתַּשְׁלֵ֣ךְva.tash.LekhH7993the boyהַיֶּ֔לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206underתַּ֖חַתTa.chatH8478oneאַחַ֥ד'a.ChadH259of the bushesהַשִּׂיחִֽם׃ha.si.ChimH7880.

16Then she wentוַתֵּלֶךְ֩va.te.leKhH1980and satH3427downH3427oppositeמִנֶּ֗גֶדmi.Ne.gedH4480 H5048him, about a bowshotכִּמְטַחֲוֵ֣י קֶ֔שֶׁתkim.ta.cha.Vei Ke.shetH2909 H7198awayהַרְחֵק֙har.ChekH7368,for she saidאָֽמְרָ֔ה'a.me.RahH559, “May I notseeאֶרְאֶ֖ה'er.'EhH7200the boyהַיָּ֑לֶדhai.Ya.ledH3206dieבְּמ֣וֹתbe.MotH4194!”And she satH3427oppositeמִנֶּ֔גֶדmi.Ne.gedH4480 H5048him, andraisedוַתִּשָּׂ֥אva.ti.Sa'H5375her voiceקֹלָ֖הּko.LahH6963and weptוַתֵּֽבְךְּ׃va.Te.vekH1058.

17Godאֱלֹהִים֮'E.lo.HimH430heardוַיִּשְׁמַ֣עvai.yish.Ma'H8085the boyהַנַּעַר֒ha.na.'ArH5288cryingק֣וֹלKolH6963;and the angelמַלְאַ֨ךְmal.'AkhH4397of Godאֱלֹהִ֤ים׀'E.lo.HimH430calledוַיִּקְרָא֩vai.yik.Ra'H7121to Hagarהָגָר֙ha.GarH1904from heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to her, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100is the matter with you, Hagarהָגָ֑רha.GarH1904?Do not fearתִּ֣ירְאִ֔יtir.'IH3372,for Godאֱלֹהִ֛ים'E.lo.HimH430has heardשָׁמַ֧עsha.Ma'H8085the voiceק֥וֹלKolH6963of the boyהַנַּ֖עַרha.Na.'arH5288whereבַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר שָֽׁם׃ba.'a.Sher ShamH834 H8033he is.

18GetH6965upH6965,liftשְׂאִ֣יse.'IH5375upH5375the boyהַנַּ֔עַרha.Na.'arH5288,and holdוְהַחֲזִ֥יקִיve.ha.cha.Zi.kiH2388him bythe handיָדֵ֖ךְya.DekhH3027,for I will makeאֲשִׂימֶֽנּוּ׃'a.si.Me.nuH7760a greatגָּד֖וֹלga.DolH1419nationלְג֥וֹיle.GoyH1471of him.”

19Then Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430openedוַיִּפְקַ֤חvai.yif.KachH6491her eyesעֵינֶ֔יהָ'ei.Nei.haH5869,and she sawוַתֵּ֖רֶאva.Te.re'H7200a wellבְּאֵ֣רbe.'ErH875of waterמָ֑יִםMa.yimH4325;and she wentוַתֵּ֜לֶךְva.Te.lekhH1980and filledוַתְּמַלֵּ֤אva.te.ma.Le'H4390theskinהַחֵ֙מֶת֙ha.Che.metH2573with waterמַ֔יִםMa.yimH4325and gaveH8248the boyהַנָּֽעַר׃ha.Na.'arH5288aH8248drinkוַתַּ֖שְׁקְva.TashkH8248.

20AndGodאֱלֹהִ֛ים'E.lo.HimH430was with the boyהַנַּ֖עַרha.Na.'arH5288,and he grewוַיִּגְדָּ֑לvai.yig.DalH1431;and he livedוַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙vai.Ye.shevH3427in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֔רba.mid.BarH4057and becameH1961an archerרֹבֶ֥ה קַשָּֽׁת׃ro.Veh ka.ShatH7235 H7199.

21He livedוַיֵּ֖שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in the wildernessבְּמִדְבַּ֣רbe.mid.BarH4057of Paranפָּארָ֑ןpa.RanH6290,and his motherאִמּ֛וֹ'i.MoH517tookוַתִּֽקַּֽח־va.ti.kach-H3947a wifeאִשָּׁ֖ה'i.ShahH802for him from the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃ פmitz.Ra.yimH4714.
