2And after He hadfastedνηστεύσαςnēsteusasG3522fortyG5065daysἡμέραςhēmerasG2250and fortyG5065nightsνύκταςnuktasG3571, HethenὕστερονhusteronG5306became hungryἐπείνασεν.epeinasenG3983.

3Andthe tempterπειράζωνpeirazōnG3985cameπροσελθὼνproselthōnG4334and saidG3004to Him, “IfεἰeiG1487You are theSonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of Godθεοῦ,theouG2316,commandG3004that theseοὗτοιhoutoiG3778stonesλίθοιlithoiG3037becomeγένωνται.¶genōntaiG1096breadἄρτοιartoiG740.”

4But He answeredἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611and saidG3004,“It is writtenγέγραπται·gegraptaiG1125, ‘Manἄνθρωπος,anthrōposG444shall not liveζήσεταιzēsetaiG2198on breadἄρτῳartōG740aloneμόνῳmonōG3441,but on everyπαντὶpantiG3956wordῥήματιrhēmatiG4487that proceedsἐκπορευομένῳekporeuomenōG1607out of the mouthστόματοςstomatosG4750of Godθεοῦ.¶theouG2316.’”

5ThenΤότεToteG5119the devilδιάβολοςdiabolosG1228tookπαραλαμβάνειparalambaneiG3880Him intothe holyἁγίανhagianG40cityπόλινpolinG4172and had Him standἔστησενestēsenG2476on the pinnacleπτερύγιονpterugionG4419of the templeG2413,

6and saidλέγειlegeiG3004to Him, “IfεἰeiG1487You are the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of Godθεοῦ,theouG2316,throwβάλεbaleG906YourselfG4572downκάτω·katōG2736;for it is writtenγέγραπταιgegraptaiG1125, ‘He will commandἐντελεῖταιenteleitaiG1781His angelsἀγγέλοιςangeloisG32concerningπερὶperiG4012You’; and ‘On theirhandsχειρῶνcheirōnG5495they will bearἀροῦσίνarousinG142You up,SoG3379that You will not strikeπροσκόψῃςproskopsēsG4350Your footπόδαpodaG4228againstπρὸςprosG4314a stoneλίθονlithonG3037.’”

7JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidἔφηephēG5346to him, “On the otherG3825handG3825,it is writtenγέγραπται·gegraptaiG1125, ‘You shall not putG1598the LordκύριονkurionG2962your GodθεόνtheonG2316to the testἐκπειράσειςekpeiraseisG1598.’”

8AgainΠάλινPalinG3825,the devilδιάβολοςdiabolosG1228tookπαραλαμβάνειparalambaneiG3880Him to a veryλίανlianG3029highὑψηλὸνhupsēlonG5308mountainὄροςorosG3735and showedδείκνυσινdeiknusinG1166Him allπάσαςpasasG3956the kingdomsβασιλείαςbasileiasG932of the worldκόσμουkosmouG2889and their gloryδόξανdoxanG1391;

9and he saidG3004to Him, “AllπάνταpantaG3956theseG3778thingsταῦτάtautaG3778I will giveδώσω,dōsōG1325You, ifἐὰνeanG1437You fallG4098downπεσὼνpesōnG4098andworshipπροσκυνήσῃςproskunēsēsG4352me.”

10ThenΤότεToteG5119JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to him,“GoὕπαγεhupageG5217,Satanσατανᾶ·satanaG4567!For it is writtenγέγραπταιgegraptaiG1125, ‘You shall worshipπροσκυνήσειςproskunēseisG4352the LordκύριονkurionG2962your GodθεόνtheonG2316, andserveλατρεύσεις.latreuseisG3000Him onlyμόνῳmonōG3441.’”
