Proverbs 18
Darby Bible
1He that separateth himself seeketh [his] pleasure, he is vehement against all soundH8454 wisdomH8454. 2A foolH3684 hath no delightH2654 in understandingH8394, but only that his heartH3820 may revealH1540 itself. 3When the wickedH7563 cometh, there cometh alsoH1571 contemptH937, and with ignominy reproachH2781. 4The wordsH1697 of a man's mouthH6310 are deepH6013 watersH4325, [and] the fountainH4726 of wisdomH2451 is a gushing brook. 5It is not goodH2896 to accept the person of the wickedH7563, to wrong the righteousH6662 in judgmentH4941. 6A fool's lipsH8193 enter into contention, and his mouthH6310 calleth for stripes. 7A fool's mouthH6310 is destruction to him, and his lipsH8193 are a snareH4170 to his soulH5315. 8The wordsH1697 of a talebearer are as dainty morsels, and they goH3381 down into the innermost parts of the bellyH990. 9He alsoH1571 who is indolent in his workH4399 is brotherH251 of the destroyerH7843. 10The nameH8034 of Jehovah is a strong towerH4026: the righteousH6662 runneth into it, and is safe. 11The richH6223 man's wealthH1952 is his strong city, and as a highH7682 wallH2346 in his own imagination. 12Before destructionH7667 the heartH3820 of manH376 is haughty; and before honour [goeth] humilityH6038. 13He that giveth answer before he heareth, it is follyH200 and shame unto him. 14The spiritH7307 of a manH376 sustaineth his infirmity; but a broken spiritH7307 who can bearH5375? 15The heartH3820 of an intelligent [man] getteth knowledgeH1847, and the earH241 of the wiseH2450 seeketh knowledgeH1847. 16A man's giftH4976 maketh room for him, and bringeth him before greatH1419 menH120. 17He that is firstH7223 in his own causeH7379 [seemeth] just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him. 18The lotH1486 causeth contentions to ceaseH7673, and parteth between the mightyH6099. 19A brotherH251 offended is [harder to be won] than a strong city; and contentionsH4066 are as the barsH1280 of a palace. 20A man's bellyH990 is satisfiedH7646 with the fruitH6529 of his mouthH6310; with the increase of his lipsH8193 is he satisfiedH7646. 21DeathH4194 and lifeH2416 are in the power of the tongueH3956, and they that loveH157 it shall eatH398 the fruitH6529 thereof. 22Whoso hath foundH4672 a wifeH802 hath foundH4672 a goodH2896 thing, and hath obtained favour from Jehovah. 23He that is poorH7326 speaketh with supplicationsH8469, but the richH6223 answereth roughly. 24A manH376 of [many] friendsH7453 will come to ruin but there is a friendH7453 [that] sticketh closer than a brotherH251.
