Proverbs 15
Darby Bible
1A softH7390 answer turneth awayH7725 fury; but a grievous wordH1697 stirreth up angerH639. 2The tongueH3956 of the wiseH2450 useth knowledgeH1847 aright; but the mouthH6310 of the foolish poureth out follyH200. 3The eyesH5869 of Jehovah are in every placeH4725, beholding the evilH7451 and the goodH2896. 4Gentleness of tongueH3956 is a treeH6086 of lifeH2416; but crookedness therein is a breaking of the spiritH7307. 5A foolH191 despiseth his father's instruction; but he that regardeth reproof becometh prudent. 6In the houseH1004 of a righteousH6662 [man] is muchH7227 treasure; but in the revenue of a wickedH7563 [man] is disturbance. 7The lipsH8193 of the wiseH2450 disperseH2219 knowledgeH1847, but not so the heartH3820 of the foolish. 8The sacrificeH2077 of the wickedH7563 is an abominationH8441 to Jehovah; but the prayerH8605 of the uprightH3477 is his delightH7522. 9The wayH1870 of a wickedH7563 [man] is an abominationH8441 to Jehovah; but him that pursueth righteousnessH6666 he loveth. 10Grievous correctionH4148 is for him that forsaketh the pathH734; he that hateth reproof shall dieH4191. 11SheolH7585 and destruction are before Jehovah; how much more then the heartsH3826 of the children of menH120! 12A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him; he will not go unto the wiseH2450. 13A joyfulH8056 heartH3820 maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of heartH3820 the spiritH7307 is broken. 14The heartH3820 of an intelligent [man] seeketh knowledgeH1847; but the mouth of the foolish feedeth on follyH200. 15All the daysH3117 of the afflictedH6041 are evilH7451; but a cheerful heartH3820 is a continual feastH4960. 16Better is littleH4592 with the fearH3374 of Jehovah than greatH7227 store and disquietude therewith. 17Better is a meal of herbs where loveH160 is, than a fatted oxH7794 and hatredH8135 therewith. 18A furious manH376 stirreth up contentionH4066; but he that is slow to angerH639 appeaseth strifeH7379. 19The wayH1870 of the sluggardH6102 is as a hedgeH4881 of thorns; but the pathH734 of the uprightH3477 is made plain. 20A wiseH2450 sonH1121 maketh a gladH8055 fatherH1; but a foolish manH120 despiseth his motherH517. 21FollyH200 is joyH8057 to him that is void of sense; but a manH376 of understandingH8394 regulateth his walk. 22Without counselH3289 purposes are disappointed; but in the multitudeH7230 of counsellors they are establishedH6965. 23A manH376 hath joyH8057 by the answerH4617 of his mouthH6310; and a wordH1697 in its season, howH4100 goodH2896 is it! 24The pathH734 of lifeH2416 is upwardsH4605 for the wiseH7919, that he may departH5493 from SheolH7585 beneath. 25Jehovah plucketh up the houseH1004 of the proudH1343; but he establisheth the boundaryH1366 of the widowH490. 26The thoughtsH4284 of the evilH7451 [man] are an abominationH8441 to Jehovah; but pureH2889 wordsH561 are pleasant. 27He that is greedy of gainH1215 troubleth his own houseH1004; but he that hateth giftsH4979 shall liveH2421. 28The heartH3820 of a righteousH6662 [man] studieth to answerH6030; but the mouthH6310 of the wickedH7563 poureth out evilH7451 things. 29Jehovah is farH7350 from the wickedH7563; but he heareth the prayerH8605 of the righteousH6662. 30That which enlighteneth the eyesH5869 rejoiceth the heartH3820; goodH2896 tidings makeH8055 the bonesH6106 fatH1878. 31The earH241 that heareth the reproof of lifeH2416 shall abide among the wiseH2450. 32He that refuseth instruction despiseth his ownH5315 soulH5315; but he that heareth reproof getteth sense. 33The fearH3374 of Jehovah is the disciplineH4148 of wisdomH2451, and before honour [goeth] humilityH6038.
