Proverbs 11
Darby Bible
1A false balance is an abominationH8441 to Jehovah; but a just weightH68 is his delightH7522. 2[When] prideH2087 cometh, then cometh shameH7036; but with the lowly is wisdomH2451. 3The integrityH8538 of the uprightH3477 guideth them; but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroyeth them. 4WealthH1952 profiteth not in the dayH3117 of wrathH5678; but righteousnessH6666 delivereth from deathH4194. 5The righteousnessH6666 of the perfectH8549 maketh plain his wayH1870; but the wickedH7563 falleth by his own wickednessH7564. 6The righteousnessH6666 of the uprightH3477 delivereth them; but the treacherousH898 are takenH3920 in their own craving. 7When a wickedH7563 manH120 dieth, [his] expectation shall perishH6; and the hopeH8615 of evil [menH120] perisheth. 8The righteousH6662 is delivered out of troubleH6869, and the wickedH7563 cometh in his stead. 9With his mouthH6310 a hypocrite destroyeth his neighbour; but through knowledgeH1847 are the righteousH6662 delivered. 10When it goeth well with the righteousH6662, the city rejoiceth; and when the wickedH7563 perishH6, there is shoutingH7440. 11By the blessingH1293 of the uprightH3477 the city is exaltedH7311; but it is overthrown by the mouthH6310 of the wickedH7563. 12He that despiseth his neighbour is void of heartH3820; but a manH376 of understandingH8394 holdeth his peace. 13He that goeth about talebearing revealeth secretsH5475; but he that is of a faithfulH539 spiritH7307 concealeth the matterH1697. 14Where no advice is, the peopleH5971 fallH5307; but in the multitudeH7230 of counsellors there is safety. 15It goeth ill with him that is suretyH6148 for another; but he that hateth suretyship is secureH982. 16A gracious womanH802 retaineth honour; and the violent retain richesH6239. 17The merciful manH376 doeth good to his own soulH5315; but the cruelH394 troubleth his own fleshH7607. 18The wickedH7563 worketh a deceitful workH6468; but he that soweth righteousnessH6666 hath a sure reward. 19As righteousnessH6666 [tendeth] to lifeH2416, so he that pursueth evilH7451 [doeth it] to his own deathH4194. 20The perverseH6141 in heartH3820 are abominationH8441 to Jehovah; but they that are perfectH8549 in [their] wayH1870 are his delightH7522. 21HandH3027 for handH3027! an evilH7451 [man] shall not be held innocent; but the seedH2233 of the righteousH6662 shall be deliveredH4422. 22A fair womanH802 who is without discretion, is [as] a goldH2091 ringH5141 in a swine's snout. 23The desireH8378 of the righteousH6662 is onlyH389 goodH2896; the expectation of the wickedH7563 is wrathH5678. 24There is that scattereth, and yetH5750 increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is right, but [it tendeth] onlyH389 to want. 25The liberal soulH5315 shall be made fatH1878, and he that watereth shall be watered alsoH1571 himself. 26He that withholdeth corn, the peopleH3816 curse him; but blessingH1293 shall be upon the headH7218 of him that selleth it. 27He that is earnest after goodH2896 seeketh favour; but he that searcheth for mischief, it shall comeH935 upon him. 28He that trusteth in his richesH6239 shall fallH5307; but the righteousH6662 shall flourish as a leafH5929. 29He that troubleth his own houseH1004 shall inheritH5157 windH7307; and the foolH191 shall be servantH5650 to the wiseH2450 of heartH3820. 30The fruitH6529 of the righteousH6662 is a treeH6086 of lifeH5315; and the wiseH2450 winneth soulsH5315. 31Behold, the righteousH6662 shall be requited on the earthH776: how much more the wickedH7563 and the sinnerH2398.
