1Now these are the lastH314 wordsH1697 of DavidH1732: DavidH1732 the sonH1121 of JesseH3448 saith, And the manH1397 who was raisedH6965 up on high, The anointedH4899 of the 1GodH430 of JacobH3290, And the sweet psalmist of IsraelH3478 saith, 2The SpiritH7307 of Jehovah spokeH1696 by me, And his word was on my tongueH3956. 3The 2GodH430 of IsraelH3478 saidH559, The RockH6697 of IsraelH3478 spokeH1696 to me, The rulerH4910 among menH120 shall be just, RulingH4910 in the fearH3374 of 3GodH430; 4And [he shall be] as the lightH216 of the morningH1242, [like] the rising of the sunH8121, A morningH1242 without cloudsH5645; [When] from the sunshine, after rainH4306, The green grassH1877 springeth from the earthH776. 5Although my houseH1004 be not soH3651 before 4GodH410, Yet he hath madeH7760 with me an everlasting covenantH1285, Ordered in every way and sure; For [this is] all my salvationH3468, and every desireH2656, Although he makeH7760 [it] not to growH6779. 6But [the sons] of Belial [are] all of them as thornsH6975 thrust awayH3947, Because they cannot be takenH3947 with handsH3027; 7And the manH376 that will touchH5060 them provideth himself with ironH1270 and the staff of a spearH2595; And they shall be utterly burnedH8313 with fireH784 in [their] place. 8These are the namesH8034 of the mightyH1368 menH1368 whom DavidH1732 had: Joseb-Bassebeth, Tachkemonite the chiefH7218 of the captains: he was Adino the Eznite; he [fought] against eightH8083 hundredH3967, slainH2491 [by him] at oneH259 timeH6471. 9And after him, EleazarH499 the sonH1121 of DodoH1734 the sonH1121 of an AhohiteH266: he was oneH376 of the threeH7969 mightyH1368 menH376 with DavidH1732, when they had defied the PhilistinesH6430 that were there gatheredH622 together to battleH4421, and the menH376 of IsraelH3478 were goneH5927 up. 10He aroseH6965 and smote the PhilistinesH6430 until his handH3027 was wearyH3021, and his handH3027 clave to the swordH2719; and Jehovah wrought a greatH1419 deliveranceH8668 that dayH3117; and the peopleH5971 returnedH7725 after him onlyH389 to spoil. 11And after him, Shammah the sonH1121 of Agee the HarariteH2043: the PhilistinesH6430 wereH1961 gatheredH622 into a troop, and there wasH1961 there a plot of ground fullH4395 of lentilsH5742, and the peopleH5971 had fledH5127 before the PhilistinesH6430; 12and he stoodH3320 in the midstH8432 of the plot and deliveredH5337 it, and smote the PhilistinesH6430, and Jehovah wrought a greatH1419 deliveranceH8668. 13And three of the thirtyH7970 chiefsH7218 wentH935 downH3381, and cameH935 to DavidH1732 in the harvestH7105 time to the caveH4631 of AdullamH5725, when the troop of the PhilistinesH6430 was encampedH2583 in the valleyH6010 of RephaimH7497. 14And DavidH1732 was thenH227 in the stronghold; and the Philistines' garrisonH4673 was thenH227 at Bethlehem. 15And DavidH1732 longed, and saidH559, Oh that oneH834 would giveH8248 me to drinkH8248 of the waterH4325 of the wellH877 of Bethlehem, which is in the gateH8179! 16And the threeH7969 mightyH1368 menH1368 brokeH1234 through the campH4264 of the PhilistinesH6430, and drewH7579 waterH4325 out of the wellH877 of Bethlehem, which is in the gateH8179, and tookH5375 it, and broughtH935 it to DavidH1732; however he wouldH14 not drinkH8354 of it, but poured it out to Jehovah. 17And he saidH559, Be it farH2486 from me, Jehovah, that I should do this thing! is it not the bloodH1818 of the menH376 that wentH1980 at the risk of their livesH5315? Therefore he wouldH14 not drinkH8354 it.
