Exodus 2:11-25 11 And it came to pass in those days בַּיָּמִ֣ים bai.ya.Mim H3117 , when Moses מֹשֶׁה֙ mo.Sheh H4872 was H1961 grown H1431 , that he went H3318 out to his brethren and looked H7200 on their burdens ; and he saw H7200 an Egyptian מִצְרִ֔י mitz.Ri H4713 smiting a Hebrew עִבְרִ֖י 'iv.Ri H5680 , one H376 of his brethren . 12 And he turned וַיִּ֤פֶן vai.Yi.fen H6437 this way and that way , and when he saw H7200 that there was no man H376 , he smote the Egyptian הַמִּצְרִ֔י ha.mitz.Ri H4713 , and hid וַֽיִּטְמְנֵ֖הוּ vai.yit.me.Ne.hu H2934 him in the sand בַּחֽוֹל׃ ba.Chol H2344 . 13 And he went H3318 out on the second הַשֵּׁנִ֔י ha.she.Ni H8145 day בַּיּ֣וֹם bai.Yom H3117 , and behold , two שְׁנֵֽי־ she.nei- H8147 Hebrew עִבְרִ֖ים 'iv.Rim H5680 men H376 were quarrelling; and he said H559 to him that was in the wrong, Why לָ֥מָּה La.mah H4100 art thou smiting thy neighbour? 14 And he said H559 , Who made H7760 thee ruler and judge וְשֹׁפֵט֙ ve.sho.Fet H8199 over us ? dost thou intend to kill H2026 me , as thou killedst the Egyptian הַמִּצְרִ֑י ha.mitz.Ri H4713 ? Then Moses מֹשֶׁה֙ mo.Sheh H4872 feared H3372 , and said H559 , Surely the matter הַדָּבָֽר׃ ha.da.Var H1697 is known H3045 . 16 And the priest וּלְכֹהֵ֥ן u.le.kho.Hen H3548 of Midian מִדְיָ֖ן mid.Yan H4080 had seven שֶׁ֣בַע She.va' H7651 daughters בָּנ֑וֹת ba.Not H1323 ; and they came H935 and drew [ water לְהַשְׁק֖וֹת le.hash.Kot H8248 ], and filled וַתְּמַלֶּ֙אנָה֙ va.te.ma.Le.nah H4390 the troughs, to water H8248 their father's flock צֹ֥אן tzon H6629 . 17 And the shepherds הָרֹעִ֖ים ha.ro.'Im H7462 came H935 and drove H1644 them away וַיְגָרְשׁ֑וּם vay.ga.re.Shum H1644 ; but Moses מֹשֶׁה֙ mo.Sheh H4872 rose H6965 and helped them , and watered וַיַּ֖שְׁקְ vai.Yashk H8248 their flock צֹאנָֽם׃ tzo.Nam H6629 . 18 And when they came H935 to Reuel רְעוּאֵ֖ל re.'u.'El H7467 their father אֲבִיהֶ֑ן 'a.vi.Hen H1 , he said H559 , Why מַדּ֛וּעַ ma.Du.a' H4069 are ye come H935 so soon to-day? 19 And they said H559 , An Egyptian מִצְרִ֔י mitz.Ri H4713 delivered H5337 us out of the hand מִיַּ֣ד mi.Yad H3027 of the shepherds הָרֹעִ֑ים ha.ro.'Im H7462 , and also וְגַם־ ve.gam- H1571 drew [ water וַיַּ֖שְׁקְ vai.Yashk H8248 ] abundantly for us , and watered H8248 the flock הַצֹּֽאן׃ ha.Tzon H6629 . 21 And Moses מֹשֶׁ֖ה mo.Sheh H4872 consented to remain H3427 with the man הָאִ֑ישׁ ha.'Ish H376 ; and he gave H5414 Moses לְמֹשֶֽׁה׃ le.mo.Sheh H4872 Zipporah צִפֹּרָ֥ה tzi.po.Rah H6855 his daughter בִתּ֖וֹ vi.To H1323 . 22 And she bore H3205 a son בֵּ֔ן Ben H1121 , and he called וַיִּקְרָ֥א vai.yik.Ra' H7121 his name שְׁמ֖וֹ she.Mo H8034 Gershom גֵּרְשֹׁ֑ם ge.re.Shom H1647 ; for he said H559 , I have been H1961 a sojourner גֵּ֣ר ger H1616 in a foreign נָכְרִיָּֽה׃ פ na.khe.ri.Yah H5237 land בְּאֶ֖רֶץ be.'E.retz H776 . 23 And it came to pass during those many הָֽרַבִּ֜ים ha.ra.Bim H7227 days בַיָּמִ֨ים vai.ya.Mim H3117 , that the king מֶ֣לֶךְ Me.lekh H4428 of Egypt מִצְרַ֔יִם mitz.Ra.yim H4714 died H4191 . And the children of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל Yis.ra.'El H3478 sighed because of the bondage , and cried H2199 ; and their cry H2199 came up to God הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים ha.'E.lo.Him H430 because of the bondage ; 24 and God אֱלֹהִ֖ים 'E.lo.Him H430 heard H8085 their groaning נַאֲקָתָ֑ם na.'a.ka.Tam H5009 , and God אֱלֹהִים֙ 'E.lo.Him H430 remembered וַיִּזְכֹּ֤ר vai.yiz.Kor H2142 his covenant בְּרִית֔וֹ be.ri.To H1285 with Abraham אַבְרָהָ֖ם 'av.ra.Ham H85 , with Isaac יִצְחָ֥ק yitz.Chak H3327 , and with Jacob יַעֲקֹֽב׃ ya.'a.Ko H3290 ; 25 and God אֱלֹהִ֖ים 'E.lo.Him H430 looked H7200 upon the children of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל Yis.ra.'El H3478 , and God אֱלֹהִֽים׃ ס 'E.lo.Him H430 acknowledged [ them ].
