Isaiah 1:4-9
AlasH1945, O sinfulH2398 nationH1471, a peopleH5971 ladenH3515 with iniquityH5771, a broodH2233 of evildoersH7489, childrenH1121 who act corruptlyH7843! They have forsakenH5800 the LORDH3068; they have despisedH5006 the HolyH6918 One of IsraelH3478 and turnedH2114 their backs on HimH268.
WhyH5921H4100 do you want moreH5750 beatingsH5221?Why do you keepH3254 rebellingH5627?Your headH7218 has a massiveH3605 woundH2483,and your wholeH3605 heartH3824 is afflictedH1742.6From the soleH3709 of your footH7272 to the topH5704 of your headH7218,there is noH369 soundnessH4974—only woundsH6482 and weltsH2250 and festeringH2961 soresH4347neitherH3808 cleansedH2115 norH3808 bandagedH2280 norH3808 soothedH7401 with oilH8081.
Your landH776 is desolateH8077;your citiesH5892 are burnedH8313 with fireH784.ForeignersH2114 devourH398 your fieldsH127 before youH5048—a desolationH8077 demolishedH4114 by strangersH2114.8And the DaughterH1323 of ZionH6726 is abandonedH3498like a shelterH5521 in a vineyardH3754,like a shackH4412 in a cucumber fieldH4750,like a cityH5892 besiegedH5341.
UnlessH3884 the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635had leftH3498 us a fewH4592 survivorsH8300,1we would have becomeH1961 like SodomH5467,we would have resembledH1819 GomorrahH6017.2
