Exodus 23
American Standard Version
1Thou shalt not takeH5375 up a false reportH8088: putH7896 not thy handH3027 with the wickedH7563 to beH1961 an unrighteous witnessH5707. 2Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evilH7451; neither shalt thou speak in a causeH7379 to turnH5186 asideH5186 after a multitude to wrest justice: 3neither shalt thou favor a poorH1800 man in his causeH7379.
4If thou meetH6293 thine enemy’s oxH7794 or his ass goingH7725 astrayH8582, thou shalt surely bringH7725 it backH7725 to him again. 5If thou seeH7200 the ass of him that hateth thee lyingH7257 under his burdenH4853, thou shalt forbear to leaveH5800 him, thou shalt surely release it with him.
6Thou shalt not wrest the justiceH4941 due to thy poor in his causeH7379. 7Keep thee farH7368 from a false matterH1697; and the innocentH5355 and righteousH6662 slayH2026 thou not: for I will not justifyH6663 the wickedH7563. 8And thou shalt takeH3947 no bribeH7810: for a bribeH7810 blindeth them that have sight, and perverteth the wordsH1697 of the righteousH6662. 9And a sojournerH1616 shalt thou not oppressH3905: for ye knowH3045 the heart of a sojournerH1616, seeing ye wereH1961 sojournersH1616 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
10And sixH8337 yearsH8141 thou shalt sowH2232 thy landH776, and shalt gatherH622 in the increase thereof: 11but the seventhH7637 yearH7637 thou shalt let it restH3499 and lie fallow; that the poor of thy peopleH5971 may eatH398: and what they leaveH5203 the beast of the fieldH7704 shall eatH398. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyardH3754, and with thy oliveyard. 12SixH8337 daysH3117 thou shalt do thy workH4639, and on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 thou shalt restH5117; that thine oxH7794 and thine ass may have restH5117, and the sonH1121 of thy handmaid, and the sojournerH1616, may be refreshedH5314. 13And in all things that I have saidH559 unto you takeH8104 ye heed: and makeH8085 no mention of the nameH8034 of otherH312 godsH430, neither let it be heardH8085 out of thy mouthH6310.
14ThreeH7969 times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the yearH8141. 15The feastH2282 of unleavenedH4682 breadH4682 shalt thou keepH8104: sevenH7651 daysH3117 thou shalt eatH398 unleavenedH4682 breadH4682, as I commandedH6680 thee, at the time appointedH4150 in the monthH2320 AbibH24 (for in it thou camest out from EgyptH4714); and none shall appearH7200 before me emptyH7387: 16and the feastH2282 of harvestH7105, the first-fruits of thy labors, which thou sowest in the fieldH7704: and the feastH2282 of ingatheringH614, at the end of the yearH8141, whenH834 thou gatherest in thy labors out of the fieldH7704. 17ThreeH7969 timesH6471 in the yearH8141 all thy malesH2138 shall appearH7200 before the Lord Jehovah.
18Thou shalt not offerH2076 the bloodH1818 of my sacrificeH2077 with leavenedH2557 bread; neither shall the fatH2459 of my feastH2282 remainH3885 all night until the morningH1242. 19The firstH7225 of the first-fruits of thy groundH127 thou shalt bringH935 into the houseH1004 of Jehovah thy GodH430. Thou shalt not boilH1310 a kid in its mother’sH517 milkH2461.
20Behold, I sendH7971 an angelH4397 before thee, to keepH8104 thee by the wayH1870, and to bringH935 thee into the placeH4725 which I have preparedH3559. 21TakeH5375 ye heed before him, and hearken unto his voiceH6963; provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressionH6588: for my nameH8034 is in him. 22But if thou shalt indeed hearken unto his voiceH6963, and do all that I speakH1696; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. 23For mine angelH4397 shall goH935 before thee, and bringH935 thee in unto the AmoriteH567, and the HittiteH2850, and the PerizziteH6522, and the CanaaniteH3669, the HiviteH2340, and the JebusiteH2983: and I will cut them off. 24Thou shalt not bowH7812 down to their godsH430, nor serveH5647 them, nor do after their worksH4639; but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and breakH7665 in pieces their pillarsH4676. 25And ye shall serveH5647 Jehovah your GodH430, and he will blessH1288 thy breadH3899, and thy waterH4325; and I will take sicknessH4245 awayH5493 from the midstH7130 of thee. 26There shall none cast her young, nor beH1961 barrenH6135, in thy landH776: the numberH4557 of thy daysH3117 I will fulfil. 27I will sendH7971 my terrorH367 before thee, and will discomfit all the peopleH5971 to whom thou shalt comeH935, and I will makeH5414 all thine enemiesH341 turn their backsH6203 unto thee. 28And I will sendH7971 the hornetH6880 before thee, which shall driveH1644 out the HiviteH2340, the CanaaniteH3669, and the HittiteH2850, from before thee. 29I will not driveH1644 them out from before thee in oneH259 yearH8141, lestH6435 the landH776 becomeH1961 desolate, and the beasts of the fieldH7704 multiply against thee. 30By littleH4592 and littleH4592 I will driveH1644 them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inheritH5157 the landH776. 31And I will setH5414 thy borderH1366 from the Red SeaH3220 even unto the seaH3220 of the PhilistinesH6430, and from the wildernessH4057 unto the RiverH5104: for I will deliver the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776 into your handH3027: and thou shalt driveH1644 them out before thee. 32Thou shalt makeH3772 no covenantH1285 with them, nor with their godsH430. 33They shall not dwellH3427 in thy landH776, lestH6435 they make thee sinH2398 against me; for if thou serveH5647 their godsH430, it will surely beH1961 a snareH4170 unto thee.
