4Then they set outוַיִּסְע֞וּvai.yis.'UH5265from Mountהָהָר֙ha.HarH2022Horמֵהֹ֤רme.HorH2023along the routeדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870to the Redס֔וּףSufH5488Seaיַם־yam-H3220,in order to bypassלִסְבֹ֖בlis.VoH5437אֶת־'et-H853the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of Edomאֱד֑וֹם'e.DomH123.But the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971grew impatientוַתִּקְצַ֥ר נֶֽפֶשׁ־va.tik.Tzar ne.fesh-H7114H5315on the journeyבַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃ba.Da.rekhH1870
5הָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971and spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696against Godבֵּֽאלֹהִים֮be.lo.HimH430and against Mosesוּבְמֹשֶׁה֒u.ve.mo.ShehH4872: “Whyלָמָ֤הla.MahH4100have you led us upהֶֽעֱלִיתֻ֙נוּ֙he.'e.li.Tu.nuH5927out of Egyptמִמִּצְרַ֔יִםmi.mitz.Ra.yimH4714to dieלָמ֖וּתla.MutH4191in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר כִּ֣יba.mid.Bar kiH4057H3588?There is noאֵ֥ין'einH369breadלֶ֙חֶם֙ וְאֵ֣יןle.chem ve.'EinH3899H369or waterמַ֔יִםMa.yimH4325,and weוְנַפְשֵׁ֣נוּve.naf.She.nuH5315detestקָ֔צָהKa.tzahH6973this wretchedהַקְּלֹקֵֽל׃ha.ke.lo.KelH7052foodבַּלֶּ֖חֶםba.Le.chemH3899!”
6So the LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068sentוַיְשַׁלַּ֨חvay.sha.LachH7971venomousהַשְּׂרָפִ֔יםha.se.ra.FimH8314snakesהַנְּחָשִׁ֣יםha.ne.cha.ShimH5175amongבָּעָ֗םba.'AmH5971the peopleאֵ֚ת'etH853,and manyרָ֖בravH7227of the Israelitesהָעָ֑ם מִיִּשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ha.'Am mi.Yis.ra.'ElH5971H3478were bittenוַֽיְנַשְּׁכ֖וּvay.na.she.KhuH5391אֶת־'et-H853עַם־'am-H5971and diedוַיָּ֥מָתvai.Ya.motH4191.
7Then the peopleהָעָ֨םha.'AmH5971cameוַיָּבֹא֩vai.ya.Vo'H935toאֶל־'el-H413Mosesמֹשֶׁ֜הmo.ShehH4872and saidוַיֹּאמְר֣וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “We have sinnedחָטָ֗אנוּcha.Ta.nuH2398byכִּֽי־ki-H3588speakingדִבַּ֤רְנוּdi.Bar.nuH1696against the LORDבַֽיהוָה֙ba.Yah.wehH3068and against you.Intercedeהִתְפַּלֵּל֙hit.pa.LelH6419withאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068so He will takeוְיָסֵ֥רve.ya.SerH5493the snakesהַנָּחָ֑שׁha.na.ChashH5175away from usמֵעָלֵ֖ינוּme.'a.Lei.nuH5921אֶת־'et-H853.”So Mosesמֹשֶׁ֖הmo.ShehH4872intercededוַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֥לvai.yit.pa.LelH6419forבְּעַ֥דbe.'AdH1157the peopleהָעָֽם׃ha.'AmH5971.
8Then the LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872, “Makeעֲשֵׂ֤ה'a.SehH6213a fiery serpentשָׂרָ֔ףsa.RafH8314and mountוְשִׂ֥יםve.SimH7760itאֹת֖וֹ'o.ToH853onעַל־'al-H5921a poleנֵ֑ס וְהָיָה֙Nes ve.ha.YahH5251H1961.When anyoneכָּל־kol-H3605who is bittenהַנָּשׁ֔וּךְha.na.ShukhH5391looks at itוְרָאָ֥הve.ra.'AhH7200אֹת֖וֹ'o.ToH853,he will liveוָחָֽי׃va.ChaiH2421.”
9So Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872madeוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213a bronzeנְחֹ֔שֶׁתne.Cho.shetH5178snakeנְחַ֣שׁne.ChashH5175and mountedוַיְשִׂמֵ֖הוּvay.si.Me.huH7760it onעַל־'al-H5921a poleהַנֵּ֑ס וְהָיָ֗הha.Nes ve.ha.YahH5251H1961.Ifאִם־'im-H518anyone whoאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376was bittenנָשַׁ֤ךְna.ShakhH5391lookedוְהִבִּ֛יטve.hi.BitH5027atהַנָּחָשׁ֙ אֶל־ha.na.Chash 'el-H413H5175the bronzeהַנְּחֹ֖שֶׁתha.ne.Cho.shetH5178snakeנְחַ֥שׁne.ChashH5175אֶת־'et-H853,he would liveוָחָֽי׃va.ChaiH2421.
11They journeyedוַיִּסְע֖וּvai.yis.'UH5265from Obothמֵאֹבֹ֑תme.'o.VotH88and campedוַֽיַּחֲנ֞וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583at Iye-abarimH5863in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּר֙ba.mid.BarH4057אֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834oppositeעַל־'al-H5921פְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124to the eastמִמִּזְרַ֖ח הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃mi.miz.Rach ha.Sha.meshH4217H8121.
13From thereמִשָּׁם֮mi.ShamH8033they moved onנָסָעוּ֒na.sa.'UH5265and campedוַֽיַּחֲנ֗וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583on the other sideמֵעֵ֤בֶרme.'E.verH5676of the Arnonאַרְנוֹן֙'ar.nOnH769אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834,in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֔רba.mid.BarH4057that extendsהַיֹּצֵ֖אhai.yo.Tze'H3318into the Amoriteהָֽאֱמֹרִ֑יha.'e.mo.RiH567territoryמִגְּב֣וּלmi.ge.VulH1366.Nowכִּ֤יkiH3588the Arnonאַרְנוֹן֙'ar.nOnH769is the borderגְּב֣וּלge.VulH1366מוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124betweenבֵּ֥יןbeinH996the Moabitesמוֹאָ֖בmo.'AvH4124andוּבֵ֥יןu.VeinH996the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִֽי׃ha.'e.mo.RiH567.
14Thereforeעַל־ כֵּן֙'al- kenH5921H3651it is statedיֵֽאָמַ֔רye.'a.MarH559in the Bookבְּסֵ֖פֶרbe.Se.ferH5612of the Warsמִלְחֲמֹ֣תmil.cha.MotH4421of the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068אֶת־'et-H853: “Wahebוָהֵ֣בva.HevH2052in Suphahבְּסוּפָ֔הbe.su.FahH5492andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853the wadisהַנְּחָלִ֖יםha.ne.cha.LimH5158of the Arnonאַרְנֽוֹן׃'ar.NonH769,
16From thereוּמִשָּׁ֖םu.mi.ShamH8033they went onto Beerבְּאֵ֑רָה הִ֣ואbe.'E.rah hi'H876H1931,the wellהַבְּאֵ֗רha.be.'ErH875whereאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559to Mosesלְמֹשֶׁ֔הle.mo.ShehH4872, “Gatherאֱסֹף֙'e.SofH622אֶת־'et-H853the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971so that I may giveוְאֶתְּנָ֥הve.'e.te.NahH5414themwaterמָֽיִם׃ סMa.yimH4325.”
18The princesשָׂרִ֗יםsa.RimH8269dugחֲפָר֣וּהָcha.fa.Ru.haH2658the wellבְּאֵ֞רbe.'ErH875;the noblesנְדִיבֵ֣יne.di.VeiH5081of the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971hollowed it outכָּר֙וּהָ֙ka.Ru.haH3738with their sceptersבִּמְחֹקֵ֖קbim.cho.KekH2710and with their staffsבְּמִשְׁעֲנֹתָ֑םbe.mish.'a.no.TamH4938.”From the wildernessוּמִמִּדְבָּ֖רu.mi.mid.BarH4057the Israelites went onto Mattanahמַתָּנָֽה׃ma.ta.NahH4980,
