17Yet your peopleבְּנֵ֣י עַמְּךָ֔be.Nei 'a.me.KhaH1121 H5971sayוְאָמְרוּ֙ve.'a.me.RuH559, ‘The wayדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the Lordאֲדֹנָ֑י'a.do.NaiH136is notלֹ֥אlo'H3808justיִתָּכֵ֖ןyi.ta.KhenH8505.’But it isוְהֵ֖מָּהve.He.mahH1992their wayדַּרְכָּ֥םdar.KamH1870that is notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808justיִתָּכֵֽן׃yi.ta.KhenH8505.

18If a righteous manצַדִּ֥יקtza.DikH6662turnsבְּשׁוּב־be.shuv-H7725from his righteousnessמִצִּדְקָת֖וֹmi.tzid.ka.ToH6666and commitsוְעָ֣שָׂהve.'A.sahH6213iniquityעָ֑וֶל'A.velH5766,he will dieוּמֵ֖תu.MetH4191for it.

19But if a wicked manרָשָׁע֙ra.Sha'H7563turnsוּבְשׁ֤וּבu.ve.ShuvH7725from his wickednessמֵֽרִשְׁעָת֔וֹme.rish.'a.ToH7564and doesוְעָשָׂ֥הve.'a.SahH6213what is justמִשְׁפָּ֖טmish.PatH4941and rightוּצְדָקָ֑הu.tze.da.KahH6666,heה֥וּאhu'H1931will liveיִֽחְיֶֽה׃Yich.YehH2421because of thisעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם'a.lei.HemH5921.

20Yet you sayוַאֲמַרְתֶּ֕םva.'a.mar.TemH559, ‘The wayדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the Lordאֲדֹנָ֑י'a.do.NaiH136is notלֹ֥אlo'H3808justיִתָּכֵ֖ןyi.ta.KhenH8505.’But I will judgeאֶשְׁפּ֥וֹט'esh.PotH8199eachאִ֧ישׁ'ishH376of youאֶתְכֶ֖ם'et.KhemH853according to his waysכִּדְרָכָ֛יוkid.ra.KhavH1870,O houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל פYis.ra.'ElH3478.”

21וַיְהִ֞יvay.HiH1961In the twelfthבִּשְׁתֵּ֧י עֶשְׂרֵ֣הbish.Tei 'es.RehH8147 H6240yearשָׁנָ֗הsha.NahH8141of our exileלְגָלוּתֵ֑נוּle.ga.lu.Te.nuH1546,on the fifth dayבַּחֲמִשָּׁ֥הba.cha.mi.ShahH2568לַחֹ֖דֶשׁla.Cho.deshH2320of the tenth monthבָּעֲשִׂרִ֛יba.'a.si.RiH6224,a fugitiveהַפָּלִ֧יטha.pa.LitH6412from Jerusalemמִירוּשָׁלִַ֛םmi.ru.sha.LimH3389cameבָּא־ba'-H935to meאֵלַ֨י'e.LaiH413and reportedלֵאמֹ֖רle.MorH559, “The cityהָעִֽיר׃ha.'IrH5892has been takenהֻכְּתָ֥הhu.ke.TahH5221!”

22Now the eveningבָּעֶ֗רֶבba.'E.revH6153beforeלִפְנֵי֙lif.NeiH6440the fugitiveהַפָּלִ֔יטha.pa.LitH6412arrivedבּ֣וֹאBo'H935,the handוְיַד־ve.yad-H3027of the LORDיְהוָה֩Yah.wehH3068wasהָיְתָ֨הha.ye.TahH1961upon meאֵלַ֜י'e.LaiH413,and He openedוַיִּפְתַּ֣חvai.yif.TachH6605אֶת־'et-H853my mouthפִּ֔יPiH6310beforeעַד־'ad-H5704the man cameבּ֥וֹאBo'H935to meאֵלַ֖י'e.LaiH413in the morningבַּבֹּ֑קֶרba.Bo.kerH1242.So my mouthפִּ֔יPiH6310was openedוַיִּפָּ֣תַחvai.yi.Pa.tachH6605and I was noוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808longerעֽוֹד׃ פodH5750muteנֶאֱלַ֖מְתִּיne.'e.Lam.tiH481.

23Then the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the LORDיְהֹוָ֖הYah.wehH3068cameוַיְהִ֥יvay.HiH1961to meאֵלַ֥י'e.LaiH413,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

24“Sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of manאָדָ֗ם'a.DamH120,those livingיֹ֠שְׁבֵיYo.she.veiH3427in theהָאֵ֜לֶּהha.'E.lehH428ruinsהֶחֳרָב֨וֹתhe.cho.ra.VotH2723inעַל־'al-H5921the landאַדְמַ֤ת'ad.MatH127of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478are sayingH559, ‘Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֔ם'av.ra.HamH85wasהָיָ֣הha.YahH1961only one manאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259,yet he possessedוַיִּירַ֖שׁvai.yi.RashH3423אֶת־'et-H853the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776.But weוַאֲנַ֣חְנוּva.'a.Nach.nuH587are manyרַבִּ֔יםra.BimH7227; surelythe landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776has been givenנִתְּנָ֥הni.te.NahH5414to usas a possessionלְמוֹרָשָֽׁה׃ סle.mo.ra.ShahH4181.’

25Thereforeלָכֵן֩la.KhenH3651tellאֱמֹ֨ר'e.MorH559themאֲלֵיהֶ֜ם'a.lei.HemH413that this is whatכֹּֽה־koh-H3541the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136GODיְהֹוִ֗ה עַל־Yah.weh 'al-H3069 H5921saysאָמַ֣ר׀'a.MarH559: ‘You eatתֹּאכֵ֛לוּto.Khe.luH398meat with the bloodהַדָּ֧ם׀ha.DamH1818in it,lift upתִּשְׂא֥וּtis.'UH5375your eyesוְעֵינֵכֶ֛םve.'ei.ne.KhemH5869toאֶל־'el-H413your idolsגִּלּוּלֵיכֶ֖םgi.lu.lei.KhemH1544,and shedתִּשְׁפֹּ֑כוּtish.Po.khuH8210bloodוְדָ֣םve.DamH1818.Should you then possessתִּירָֽשׁוּ׃ti.Ra.shuH3423the landוְהָאָ֖רֶץve.ha.'A.retzH776?

26You have reliedעֲמַדְתֶּ֤ם'a.mad.TemH5975onעַֽל־'al-H5921your swordsחַרְבְּכֶם֙char.be.KhemH2719,you have committedעֲשִׂיתֶ֣ן'a.si.TenH6213detestable actsתּוֹעֵבָ֔הto.'e.VahH8441,and eachוְאִ֛ישׁve.'IshH376אֶת־'et-H853of you has defiledטִמֵּאתֶ֑םti.me.TemH2930his neighbor’sרֵעֵ֖הוּre.'E.huH7453wifeאֵ֥שֶׁת'E.shetH802.Should you then possessתִּירָֽשׁוּ׃ סti.Ra.shuH3423the landוְהָאָ֖רֶץve.ha.'A.retzH776?’

27Tellתֹאמַ֨רto.MarH559themאֲלֵהֶ֜ם'a.le.HemH413that thisכֹּֽה־koh-H3541is whatכֹּה־koh-H3541the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136GODיְהוִה֮Yah.wehH3069saysאָמַ֨ר'a.MarH559: ‘As surely as Iאָנִי֒ אִם־ לֹ֞א'a.Ni 'im- lo'H589 H518 H3808liveחַי־chai-H2416,thoseאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834in the ruinsבֶּֽחֳרָבוֹת֙be.cho.ra.VotH2723will fallיִפֹּ֔לוּyi.Po.luH5307by the swordבַּחֶ֣רֶבba.Che.revH2719,thoseוַֽאֲשֶׁר֙va.'a.SherH834inעַל־'al-H5921the open fieldפְּנֵ֣י הַשָּׂדֶ֔הpe.Nei ha.sa.DehH6440 H7704I will giveנְתַתִּ֖יוne.ta.TivH5414to be devouredלְאָכְל֑וֹle.'a.khe.LoH398by wild animalsלַחַיָּ֥הla.chai.YahH2416,and thoseוַאֲשֶׁ֛רva.'a.SherH834in the strongholdsבַּמְּצָד֥וֹתba.me.tza.DotH4679and cavesוּבַמְּעָר֖וֹתu.va.me.'a.RotH4631will dieיָמֽוּתוּ׃ya.Mu.tuH4191by plagueבַּדֶּ֥בֶרba.De.verH1698.

28I will makeוְנָתַתִּ֤יve.na.ta.TiH5414אֶת־'et-H853the landהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776a desolateשְׁמָמָ֣הshe.ma.MahH8077wasteוּמְשַׁמָּ֔הu.me.sha.MahH4923,and the prideגְּא֣וֹןge.'onH1347of her strengthעֻזָּ֑הּ'u.ZahH5797will come to an endוְנִשְׁבַּ֖תve.nish.BatH7673.The mountainsהָרֵ֥יha.ReiH2022of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478will become desolateוְשָֽׁמְמ֛וּve.sha.me.MuH8074,so that no oneמֵאֵ֥יןme.'EinH369will pass throughעוֹבֵֽר׃o.VerH5674.

29Then they will knowוְיָדְע֖וּve.ya.de.'UH3045thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588Iאֲנִ֣י'a.NiH589am the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,when I have madeבְּתִתִּ֤יbe.ti.TiH5414אֶת־'et-H853the landהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776a desolateשְׁמָמָ֣הshe.ma.MahH8077wasteוּמְשַׁמָּ֔הu.me.sha.MahH4923because ofעַ֥ל'alH5921allכָּל־kol-H3605the abominationsתּוֹעֲבֹתָ֖םto.'a.vo.TamH8441אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834they have committedעָשֽׂוּ׃ ס'a.SuH6213.’

32Indeed, youוְהִנְּךָ֤ve.hi.ne.KhaH2005are to themlike a singer of loveעֲגָבִ֔ים'a.ga.VimH5690songsכְּשִׁ֣ירke.ShirH7892with a beautifulיְפֵ֥הye.PehH3303voiceק֖וֹלKolH6963,who skillfullyוּמֵטִ֣בu.me.TivH3190plays an instrumentנַגֵּ֑ןna.GenH5059.They hearוְשָֽׁמְעוּ֙ve.sha.me.'UH8085אֶת־'et-H853your wordsדְּבָרֶ֔יךָde.va.Rei.khaH1697but do notאֵינָ֖ם'ei.NamH369אוֹתָֽם׃'o.TamH853put them into practiceוְעֹשִׂ֥יםve.'o.SimH6213.

33So when it comes to passוּבְבֹאָ֑הּu.ve.vo.'AhH935—and surelyהִנֵּ֣הhi.NehH2009it will comeבָאָ֔הva.'AhH935—then they will knowוְיָ֣דְע֔וּve.Ya.de.'UH3045thatכִּ֥יkiH3588a prophetנָבִ֖יאna.Vi'H5030has beenהָיָ֥הha.YahH1961among themבְתוֹכָֽם׃ סve.to.KhamH8432.”
