17“Yetyour fellowבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121 H5971citizensH5971sayוְאָמְרוּ֙ve.'a.me.RuH559, ‘The wayדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the Lordאֲדֹנָ֑י'a.do.NaiH136is not rightיִתָּכֵ֖ןyi.ta.KhenH8505,’when it is their own wayדַּרְכָּ֥םdar.KamH1870that is not rightיִתָּכֵֽן׃yi.ta.KhenH8505.

18When the righteousצַדִּ֥יקtza.DikH6662turnsבְּשׁוּב־be.shuv-H7725from his righteousnessמִצִּדְקָת֖וֹmi.tzid.ka.ToH6666andcommitsוְעָ֣שָׂהve.'A.sahH6213iniquityעָ֑וֶל'A.velH5766,then he shall dieוּמֵ֖תu.MetH4191in it.

19But when the wickedרָשָׁע֙ra.Sha'H7563turnsוּבְשׁ֤וּבu.ve.ShuvH7725from his wickednessמֵֽרִשְׁעָת֔וֹme.rish.'a.ToH7564and practicesוְעָשָׂ֥הve.'a.SahH6213justiceמִשְׁפָּ֖טmish.PatH4941and righteousnessוּצְדָקָ֑הu.tze.da.KahH6666,he will liveיִֽחְיֶֽה׃Yich.YehH2421by them.

20Yet you sayוַאֲמַרְתֶּ֕םva.'a.mar.TemH559, ‘The wayדֶּ֣רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the Lordאֲדֹנָ֑י'a.do.NaiH136is not rightיִתָּכֵ֖ןyi.ta.KhenH8505.’O houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל פYis.ra.'ElH3478,I will judgeאֶשְׁפּ֥וֹט'esh.PotH8199eachאִ֧ישׁ'ishH376of you according to his waysכִּדְרָכָ֛יוkid.ra.KhavH1870.”

21Now in thetwelfthבִּשְׁתֵּ֧י עֶשְׂרֵ֣הbish.Tei 'es.RehH8147 H6240yearשָׁנָ֗הsha.NahH8141of our exileלְגָלוּתֵ֑נוּle.ga.lu.Te.nuH1546,on the fifthבַּחֲמִשָּׁ֥הba.cha.mi.ShahH2568of the tenthבָּעֲשִׂרִ֛יba.'a.si.RiH6224monthלַחֹ֖דֶשׁla.Cho.deshH2320, therefugeesהַפָּלִ֧יטha.pa.LitH6412from Jerusalemמִירוּשָׁלִַ֛םmi.ru.sha.LimH3389cameבָּא־ba'-H935to me, sayingלֵאמֹ֖רle.MorH559, “The cityהָעִֽיר׃ha.'IrH5892has beentakenהֻכְּתָ֥הhu.ke.TahH5221.”

22Now thehandוְיַד־ve.yad-H3027of the Lordיְהוָה֩Yah.wehH3068had beenהָיְתָ֨הha.ye.TahH1961upon me in the eveningבָּעֶ֗רֶבba.'E.revH6153,beforeלִפְנֵי֙lif.NeiH6440therefugeesהַפָּלִ֔יטha.pa.LitH6412cameבּ֣וֹאBo'H935. And Heopenedוַיִּפְתַּ֣חvai.yif.TachH6605my mouthפִּ֔יPiH6310at the timeעַד־'ad-H5704theycameבּ֥וֹאBo'H935to me in the morningבַּבֹּ֑קֶרba.Bo.kerH1242;so my mouthפִּ֔יPiH6310wasopenedוַיִּפָּ֣תַחvai.yi.Pa.tachH6605and I was noוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808longerעֽוֹד׃ פodH5750speechlessנֶאֱלַ֖מְתִּיne.'e.Lam.tiH481.

23Then the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהֹוָ֖הYah.wehH3068cameוַיְהִ֥יvay.HiH1961to me sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

24“Sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of manאָדָ֗ם'a.DamH120, they wholiveיֹ֠שְׁבֵיYo.she.veiH3427in theseהָאֵ֜לֶּהha.'E.lehH428wasteהֶחֳרָב֨וֹתhe.cho.ra.VotH2723placesH2723in the landאַדְמַ֤ת'ad.MatH127of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478are sayingH559, ‘Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֔ם'av.ra.HamH85was onlyoneאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259,yet he possessedוַיִּירַ֖שׁvai.yi.RashH3423the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776; so tous whoH7227are manyH7227the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776has been givenנִתְּנָ֥הni.te.NahH5414as a possessionלְמוֹרָשָֽׁה׃ סle.mo.ra.ShahH4181.’

25Thereforeלָכֵן֩la.KhenH3651sayאֱמֹ֨ר'e.MorH559to them, ‘Thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֣ר׀'a.MarH559the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136 GodH3068, “You eatתֹּאכֵ֛לוּto.Khe.luH398meat with thebloodהַדָּ֧ם׀ha.DamH1818in it,liftתִּשְׂא֥וּtis.'UH5375up your eyesוְעֵינֵכֶ֛םve.'ei.ne.KhemH5869to your idolsגִּלּוּלֵיכֶ֖םgi.lu.lei.KhemH1544as you shedתִּשְׁפֹּ֑כוּtish.Po.khuH8210bloodוְדָ֣םve.DamH1818.Should you then possessתִּירָֽשׁוּ׃ti.Ra.shuH3423the landוְהָאָ֖רֶץve.ha.'A.retzH776?

26Yourelyעֲמַדְתֶּ֤ם'a.mad.TemH5975on your swordחַרְבְּכֶם֙char.be.KhemH2719,you commitעֲשִׂיתֶ֣ן'a.si.TenH6213abominationsתּוֹעֵבָ֔הto.'e.VahH8441and eachוְאִ֛ישׁve.'IshH376of you defilesטִמֵּאתֶ֑םti.me.TemH2930his neighbor’sרֵעֵ֖הוּre.'E.huH7453wifeאֵ֥שֶׁת'E.shetH802.Should you then possessתִּירָֽשׁוּ׃ סti.Ra.shuH3423the landוְהָאָ֖רֶץve.ha.'A.retzH776?”’

27Thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541you shall sayתֹאמַ֨רto.MarH559to them, ‘Thusכֹּה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֨ר'a.MarH559the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136 GodH3068, “As I liveH2416,surelyאִם־ לֹ֞א'im- lo'H518 H3808those whoאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834are in the wasteבֶּֽחֳרָבוֹת֙be.cho.ra.VotH2723placesH2723willfallיִפֹּ֔לוּyi.Po.luH5307by the swordבַּחֶ֣רֶבba.Che.revH2719,and whoeverוַֽאֲשֶׁר֙va.'a.SherH834is in theopenפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֔הha.sa.DehH7704I will giveנְתַתִּ֖יוne.ta.TivH5414to the beastsH2421to be devouredלְאָכְל֑וֹle.'a.khe.LoH398,and those whoוַאֲשֶׁ֛רva.'a.SherH834are in the strongholdsבַּמְּצָד֥וֹתba.me.tza.DotH4679and in thecavesוּבַמְּעָר֖וֹתu.va.me.'a.RotH4631will dieיָמֽוּתוּ׃ya.Mu.tuH4191of pestilenceבַּדֶּ֥בֶרba.De.verH1698.

28I willmakeוְנָתַתִּ֤יve.na.ta.TiH5414the landהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776a desolationשְׁמָמָ֣הshe.ma.MahH8077and a wasteוּמְשַׁמָּ֔הu.me.sha.MahH4923, and theprideגְּא֣וֹןge.'onH1347of her powerעֻזָּ֑הּ'u.ZahH5797will ceaseוְנִשְׁבַּ֖תve.nish.BatH7673;and the mountainsהָרֵ֥יha.ReiH2022of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478will be desolateוְשָֽׁמְמ֛וּve.sha.me.MuH8074soH4480that noH369oneH369will passH5674throughH5674.

29Then they will knowוְיָדְע֖וּve.ya.de.'UH3045that I am the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,when I makeבְּתִתִּ֤יbe.ti.TiH5414the landהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776a desolationשְׁמָמָ֣הshe.ma.MahH8077and a wasteוּמְשַׁמָּ֔הu.me.sha.MahH4923becauseעַ֥ל'alH5921of allכָּל־kol-H3605their abominationsתּוֹעֲבֹתָ֖םto.'a.vo.TamH8441whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834they have committedעָשֽׂוּ׃ ס'a.SuH6213.”’

30“But as for you, sonבֶן־ven-H1121of manאָדָ֔ם'a.DamH120,your fellowבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121 H5971citizensH5971who talkהַנִּדְבָּרִ֤יםha.nid.ba.RimH1696about you by the wallsהַקִּיר֔וֹתha.ki.RotH7023and in the doorwaysוּבְפִתְחֵ֖יu.ve.fit.CheiH6607of the housesהַבָּתִּ֑יםha.ba.TimH1004,speakוְדִבֶּר־ve.di.ber-H1696to oneחַ֣דchadH2297anotherאַחַ֗ד'a.ChadH259,eachאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376to his brotherאָחִיו֙'a.ChivH251,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘Comeבֹּֽאוּ־bo.'u-H935nowנָ֣אna'H4994and hearוְשִׁמְע֔וּve.shim.'UH8085whatמָ֣הmahH4100themessageהַדָּבָ֔רha.da.VarH1697is which comesH3318forthH3318from the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.’

31They comeוְיָב֣וֹאוּve.ya.Vo.'uH935to you as peopleעָ֞ם'amH5971comeכִּמְבוֹא־kim.Vo'-H3996,and sitוְיֵשְׁב֤וּve.ye.she.VuH3427beforeלְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙le.fa.Nei.khaH6440you asMy peopleעַמִּ֔י'a.MiH5971and hearוְשָֽׁמְעוּ֙ve.sha.me.'UH8085your wordsדְּבָרֶ֔יךָde.va.Rei.khaH1697,but they do not doיַֽעֲשׂ֑וּya.'a.SuH6213them, for they doעֹשִׂ֔ים'o.SimH6213the lustfulעֲגָבִ֤ים'a.ga.VimH5690desiresH5690expressed by theirmouthבְּפִיהֶם֙be.fi.HemH6310, andtheir heartלִבָּ֥םli.BamH3820goesהֹלֵֽךְ׃ho.LekhH1980afterאַחֲרֵ֥י'a.cha.ReiH310theirgainבִצְעָ֖םvitz.'AmH1215.

32BeholdH2009,you are to them like a sensualעֲגָבִ֔ים'a.ga.VimH5690songכְּשִׁ֣ירke.ShirH7892by one who has abeautifulיְפֵ֥הye.PehH3303voiceק֖וֹלKolH6963and playsנַגֵּ֑ןna.GenH5059wellוּמֵטִ֣בu.me.TivH3190on an instrument; for they hearוְשָֽׁמְעוּ֙ve.sha.me.'UH8085your wordsדְּבָרֶ֔יךָde.va.Rei.khaH1697but they do not practiceוְעֹשִׂ֥יםve.'o.SimH6213them.

33So when itcomesוּבְבֹאָ֑הּu.ve.vo.'AhH935to passבָאָ֔הva.'AhH935--as surelyהִנֵּ֣הhi.NehH2009it will--then they will knowוְיָ֣דְע֔וּve.Ya.de.'UH3045that a prophetנָבִ֖יאna.Vi'H5030has beenהָיָ֥הha.YahH1961in their midstבְתוֹכָֽם׃ סve.to.KhamH8432.”
