1וַיֵּ֥לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980Now a manאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376of the houseמִבֵּ֣יתmi.BeitH1004of Leviלֵוִ֑יle.ViH3878marriedוַיִּקַּ֖חvai.yi.KachH3947אֶת־'et-H853a Leviteלֵוִֽי׃le.ViH3878womanבַּת־bat-H1323,

2and sheהָאִשָּׁ֖הha.'i.ShahH802conceivedוַתַּ֥הַרva.Ta.harH2029and gave birth toוַתֵּ֣לֶדva.Te.ledH3205a sonבֵּ֑ןBenH1121.When she sawוַתֵּ֤רֶאva.Te.re'H7200אֹתוֹ֙'o.ToH853thatכִּי־ki-H3588heה֔וּאHu'H1931was abeautifulט֣וֹבTovH2896child,she hid himוַֽתִּצְפְּנֵ֖הוּva.titz.pe.Ne.huH6845for threeשְׁלֹשָׁ֥הshe.lo.ShahH7969monthsיְרָחִֽים׃ye.ra.ChimH3391.

3But when she couldיָכְלָ֣הya.khe.LahH3201noוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808longerעוֹד֮'OdH5750hide himהַצְּפִינוֹ֒ha.tze.fi.NoH6845,she gotוַתִּֽקַּֽח־va.ti.kach-H3947hima papyrusגֹּ֔מֶאGo.me'H1573basketתֵּ֣בַתTe.vatH8392and coated itוַתַּחְמְרָ֥הva.tach.me.RahH2560with tarבַחֵמָ֖רva.che.MarH2564and pitchוּבַזָּ֑פֶתu.va.Za.fetH2203.Then she placedוַתָּ֤שֶׂםva.Ta.semH7760the childהַיֶּ֔לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206in the basketאֶת־'et-H853and setוַתָּ֥שֶׂםva.Ta.semH7760it among the reedsבַּסּ֖וּףba.SufH5488alongעַל־'al-H5921the bankשְׂפַ֥תse.FatH8193of the Nileהַיְאֹֽר׃hay.'OrH2975.

4And his sisterאֲחֹת֖וֹ'a.cho.ToH269stoodוַתֵּתַצַּ֥בva.te.ta.TzavH3320at a distanceמֵרָחֹ֑קme.ra.ChokH7350to seeלְדֵעָ֕הle.de.'AhH3045whatמַה־mah-H4100would happenיֵּעָשֶׂ֖הye.'a.SehH6213to him.

5Soon the daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Pharaohפַּרְעֹה֙par.'OhH6547went downוַתֵּ֤רֶדva.Te.redH3381to batheלִרְחֹ֣ץlir.ChotzH7364inעַל־'al-H5921the Nileהַיְאֹ֔רhay.'OrH2975,and her attendantsוְנַעֲרֹתֶ֥יהָve.na.'a.ro.Tei.haH5291were walkingהֹלְכֹ֖תho.le.KhotH1980alongעַל־'al-H5921the riverbankיַ֣ד הַיְאֹ֑רyad hay.'OrH3027 H2975.And when she sawוַתֵּ֤רֶאva.Te.re'H7200אֶת־'et-H853the basketהַתֵּבָה֙ha.te.VahH8392amongבְּת֣וֹךְbe.TokhH8432the reedsהַסּ֔וּףha.SufH5488,she sentוַתִּשְׁלַ֥חva.tish.LachH7971אֶת־'et-H853her maidservantאֲמָתָ֖הּ'a.ma.TahH519to retrieve itוַתִּקָּחֶֽהָva.ti.ka.Che.haH3947.

6When she opened itוַתִּפְתַּח֙va.tif.TachH6605,she sawוַתִּרְאֵ֣הוּva.tir.'E.huH7200אֶת־'et-H853the childהַיֶּ֔לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206,and beholdוְהִנֵּה־ve.hi.neh-H2009,the little boyנַ֖עַרNa.'arH5288was cryingבֹּכֶ֑הbo.KhehH1058.So she had compassionוַתַּחְמֹ֣לva.tach.MolH2550on himעָלָ֔יו'a.LavH5921and saidוַתֹּ֕אמֶרva.To.merH559, “This is one ofזֶֽה׃ZehH2088the Hebrewהָֽעִבְרִ֖יםha.'iv.RimH5680childrenמִיַּלְדֵ֥יmi.yal.DeiH3206.”

7Then his sisterאֲחֹתוֹ֮'a.cho.ToH269saidוַתֹּ֣אמֶרva.To.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹה֒par.'OhH6547daughterבַּת־bat-H1323, “Shall I goהַאֵלֵ֗ךְha.'e.LekhH1980and callוְקָרָ֤אתִיve.ka.Ra.tiH7121one ofמִ֖ןminH4480the Hebrewהָעִבְרִיֹּ֑תha.'iv.ri.YotH5680womenאִשָּׁ֣ה'i.ShahH802מֵינֶ֔קֶתmei.Ne.ketH3243to nurseוְתֵינִ֥קve.tei.NikH3243the childהַיָּֽלֶד׃hai.Ya.ledH3206for youאֶת־'et-H853?”

8“Go aheadלֵ֑כִיLe.khiH1980,”Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹ֖הpar.'OhH6547daughterבַּת־bat-H1323toldוַתֹּֽאמֶר־va.to.mer-H559her.And the girlהָֽעַלְמָ֔הha.'al.MahH5959wentוַתֵּ֙לֶךְ֙va.Te.lekhH1980and calledוַתִּקְרָ֖אva.tik.Ra'H7121אֶת־'et-H853the boy’sהַיָּֽלֶד׃hai.Ya.ledH3206motherאֵ֥ם'emH517.

9Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹ֗הpar.'OhH6547daughterבַּת־bat-H1323saidוַתֹּ֧אמֶרva.To.merH559to her, “Takeהֵילִ֜יכִיhei.Li.khiH1980אֶת־'et-H853thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088childהַיֶּ֤לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206and nurse himH3243for me,and Iוַאֲנִ֖יva.'a.NiH589will payאֶתֵּ֣ן'e.TenH5414אֶת־'et-H853your wagesשְׂכָרֵ֑ךְse.kha.RekhH7939.”So the womanהָאִשָּׁ֛הha.'i.ShahH802tookוַתִּקַּ֧חva.ti.KachH3947the boyהַיֶּ֖לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206and nursed himH5134.
