4Then the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872, “Beholdהִנְנִ֨יhi.NiH2005,I will rain downמַמְטִ֥ירmam.TirH4305breadלֶ֖חֶםLe.chemH3899fromמִן־min-H4480heavenהַשָּׁמָ֑יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064for you.Each dayH3117the peopleהָעָ֤םha.'AmH5971are to go outוְיָצָ֨אve.ya.Tza'H3318and gatherוְלָֽקְטוּ֙ve.la.ke.TuH3950enough for that dayדְּבַר־de.var-H1697.In this wayלְמַ֧עַןle.Ma.'anH4616I will testאֲנַסֶּ֛נּוּ'a.nas.Se.nuH5254whetherאִם־'im-H518or notלֹֽא׃Lo'H3808they will followהֲיֵלֵ֥ךְha.ye.LekhH1980My instructionsבְּתוֹרָתִ֖יbe.to.ra.TiH8451.

5Thenוְהָיָה֙ve.ha.YahH1961on the sixthהַשִּׁשִּׁ֔יha.shi.ShiH8345dayH3117,when they prepareוְהֵכִ֖ינוּve.he.Khi.nuH3559אֵ֣ת'etH853whatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834they bring inיָבִ֑יאוּya.Vi.'uH935,it will beוְהָיָ֣הve.ha.YahH1961twiceמִשְׁנֶ֔הmish.NehH4932asעַ֥ל'alH5921muchאֲשֶֽׁר־'a.Sher-H834as they gatherיִלְקְט֖וּyil.ke.TuH3950on the other daysH3117.”

6So Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872and Aaronוְאַהֲרֹ֔ןve.'a.ha.RonH175saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶֽל־'el-H413allכָּל־kol-H3605the Israelitesבְּנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478, “This eveningעֶ֕רֶב'E.revH6153you will knowוִֽידַעְתֶּ֕םvi.da'.TemH3045thatכִּ֧יkiH3588it was the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068who broughtהוֹצִ֥יאho.Tzi'H3318youאֶתְכֶ֖ם'et.KhemH853out of the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714,

7and in the morningוּבֹ֗קֶרu.Vo.kerH1242you will seeוּרְאִיתֶם֙u.re.'i.TemH7200אֶת־'et-H853the LORD’sיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068gloryכְּב֣וֹדke.VodH3519,because He has heardבְּשָׁמְע֥וֹbe.sha.me.'OH8085אֶת־'et-H853your grumblingתְּלֻנֹּתֵיכֶ֖םte.lu.no.tei.KhemH8519againstעַל־'al-H5921Himיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.For whoמָ֔הMahH4100areweוְנַ֣חְנוּve.Nach.nuH5168,thatכִּ֥יkiH3588you should grumbleתַלִּ֖ינוּta.lo.nuH3885against usעָלֵֽינוּ׃'a.Lei.nuH5921?”

8And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872addedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “The LORDיְהוָה֩Yah.wehH3068will giveבְּתֵ֣תbe.TetH5414youmeatבָּשָׂ֣רba.SarH1320to eatלֶאֱכֹ֗לle.'e.KholH398this eveningבָּעֶ֜רֶבba.'E.revH6153and breadוְלֶ֤חֶםve.Le.chemH3899to fill youלִשְׂבֹּ֔עַlis.Bo.a'H7646in the morningבַּבֹּ֙קֶר֙ba.Bo.kerH1242,for Heיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068אֶת־'et-H853has heardבִּשְׁמֹ֤עַbish.Mo.a'H8085your grumblingH8519אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834אַתֶּ֥ם'a.TemH859against Himעָלָ֑יו'a.LavH5921.Whoמָ֔הMahH4100are weוְנַ֣חְנוּve.Nach.nuH5168?Your grumblingsH8519are notלֹא־lo'-H3808against usעָלֵ֥ינוּ'a.Lei.nuH5921 H8519butכִּ֥יkiH3588againstעַל־'al-H5921the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.”

9Then Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872said toוַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֶֽל־vai.Yo.mer 'el-H559 H413Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175, “Tellאֱמֹ֗ר אֶֽל־'e.Mor 'el-H559 H413the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605congregationעֲדַת֙ בְּנֵ֣י'a.Dat be.NeiH5712 H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478, ‘Comeקִרְב֖וּkir.VuH7126beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,forכִּ֣יkiH3588He has heardשָׁמַ֔עsha.Ma'H8085אֵ֖ת'etH853your grumblingתְּלֻנֹּתֵיכֶֽם׃te.lu.no.tei.KhemH8519.’”

10And asוַיְהִ֗יvay.HiH1961Aaronאַהֲרֹן֙'a.ha.RonH175was speakingכְּדַבֵּ֤רke.da.BerH1696toאֶל־'el-H413the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605congregationעֲדַ֣ת בְּנֵֽי־'a.Dat be.nei-H5712 H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,they lookedוַיִּפְנ֖וּvai.yif.NuH6437towardאֶל־'el-H413the desertהַמִּדְבָּ֑רha.mid.BarH4057,and thereוְהִנֵּה֙ve.hi.NehH2009in a cloudבֶּעָנָֽן׃ פbe.'a.NanH6051the gloryכְּב֣וֹדke.VodH3519of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068appearedנִרְאָ֖הnir.'AhH7200.

11Then the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068saidוַיְדַבֵּ֥רvay.da.BerH1696toאֶל־'el-H413Mosesמֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃mo.Sheh le.MorH4872 H559,

12“I have heardשָׁמַ֗עְתִּיsha.Ma'.tiH8085אֶת־'et-H853the grumblingתְּלוּנֹּת֮te.lu.NotH8519of the Israelitesבְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒be.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478.Tell themדַּבֵּ֨ר אֲלֵהֶ֜ם לֵאמֹ֗רda.Ber 'a.le.Hem le.MorH1696 H413 H559, ‘Atבֵּ֤יןbeinH996twilightהָֽעַרְבַּ֙יִם֙ha.'ar.Ba.yimH6153you will eatתֹּאכְל֣וּto.khe.LuH398meatבָשָׂ֔רva.SarH1320,and in the morningוּבַבֹּ֖קֶרu.va.Bo.kerH1242you will be filledתִּשְׂבְּעוּ־tis.be.'u-H7646with breadלָ֑חֶםLa.chemH3899.Then you will knowוִֽידַעְתֶּ֕םvi.da'.TemH3045thatכִּ֛יkiH3588Iאֲנִ֥י'a.NiH589am the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃'e.lo.hei.KhemH430.’”

13וַיְהִ֣יvay.HiH1961That eveningבָעֶ֔רֶבva.'E.revH6153quailהַשְּׂלָ֔וha.se.LavH7958cameוַתַּ֣עַלva.Ta.'alH5927and coveredוַתְּכַ֖סva.te.KhasH3680אֶת־'et-H853the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑הha.ma.cha.NehH4264,and in the morningוּבַבֹּ֗קֶרu.va.Bo.kerH1242there wasהָֽיְתָה֙ha.ye.TahH1961a layerשִׁכְבַ֣תshikh.VatH7902of dewהַטַּ֔לha.TalH2919aroundסָבִ֖יבsa.VivH5439the campלַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃La.ma.cha.NehH4264.

14When the layerשִׁכְבַ֣תshikh.VatH7902of dewהַטָּ֑לha.TalH2919had evaporatedוַתַּ֖עַלva.Ta.'alH5927,thereוְהִנֵּ֞הve.hi.NehH2009were thinדַּ֣קdakH1851flakesמְחֻסְפָּ֔סme.chus.PasH2636onעַל־'al-H5921the desertהַמִּדְבָּר֙ha.mid.BarH4057floorפְּנֵ֤יpe.NeiH6440,as fineדַּ֥קdakH1851as frostכַּכְּפֹ֖רka.ke.ForH3713onעַל־'al-H5921the groundהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.

15When the Israelitesבְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֗לve.nei- Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478saw itוַיִּרְא֣וּvai.yir.'UH7200,they askedוַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559oneאִ֤ישׁ אֶל־'ish 'el-H376 H413anotherאָחִיו֙'a.ChivH251, “Whatמָ֣ןmanH4478is itה֔וּאHu'H1931?”Forכִּ֛יkiH3588they did notלֹ֥אlo'H3808knowיָדְע֖וּya.de.'UH3045whatמַה־mah-H4100it wasה֑וּאHu'H1931.So Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872toldוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559themאֲלֵהֶ֔ם'a.le.HemH413, “Itה֣וּאhu'H1931is the breadהַלֶּ֔חֶםha.Le.chemH3899thatאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068has givenנָתַ֧ןna.TanH5414youto eatלְאָכְלָֽה׃le.'okh.LahH402.

16Thisזֶ֤ה הַדָּבָר֙zeh ha.da.VarH2088 H1697is whatאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068has commandedצִוָּ֣הtzi.VahH6680: ‘Each oneאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376is to gatherלִקְט֣וּlik.TuH3950as muchמִמֶּ֔נּוּmi.Me.nuH4480asלְפִ֣יle.FiH6310he needsאָכְל֑וֹ'a.khe.LoH400.You may takeתִּקָּֽחוּ׃ti.Ka.chuH3947an omerעֹ֣מֶר'O.merH6016for eachלַגֻּלְגֹּ֗לֶת מִסְפַּר֙la.gul.Go.let mis.ParH1538 H4557personנַפְשֹׁ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם אִ֛ישׁnaf.Sho.tei.Khem 'ishH5315 H376לַאֲשֶׁ֥רla.'a.SherH834in your tentבְּאָהֳל֖וֹbe.'o.ho.LoH168.’”

17So the Israelitesבְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478didוַיַּעֲשׂוּ־vai.ya.'a.su-H6213thisכֵ֖ןkhenH3651.Some gatheredוַֽיִּלְקְט֔וּvai.yil.ke.TuH3950moreהַמַּרְבֶּ֖הha.mar.BehH7235,and some lessוְהַמַּמְעִֽיט׃ve.ha.mam.'ItH4591.

18When they measured itוַיָּמֹ֣דּוּvai.ya.Mo.duH4058by the omerבָעֹ֔מֶרva.'O.merH6016,he who gathered muchהַמַּרְבֶּ֔הha.mar.BehH7235had noוְלֹ֤אve.Lo'H3808excessהֶעְדִּיף֙he'.DifH5736,and he who gathered littleוְהַמַּמְעִ֖יטve.ha.mam.'ItH4591had noלֹ֣אlo'H3808shortfallהֶחְסִ֑ירhech.SirH2637.Each oneאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376gatheredלָקָֽטוּ׃la.Ka.tuH3950asלְפִֽי־le.fi-H6310much as he needed to eatאָכְל֖וֹ'a.khe.LoH400.

19Then Mosesמֹשֶׁ֖הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to themאֲלֵהֶ֑ם'a.le.HemH413, “Noאַל־'al-H408oneאִ֕ישׁ'ishH376may keepיוֹתֵ֥רyo.TerH3498any of itמִמֶּ֖נּוּmi.Me.nuH4480untilעַד־'ad-H5704morningבֹּֽקֶר׃Bo.kerH1242.”

20But they did notוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808listenשָׁמְע֣וּsha.me.'UH8085toאֶל־'el-H413Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872;some peopleאֲנָשִׁ֤ים'a.na.ShimH582leftוַיּוֹתִ֨רוּvai.yo.Ti.ruH3498part ofמִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙mi.Me.nuH4480it untilעַד־'ad-H5704morningבֹּ֔קֶרBo.kerH1242,and it became infestedוַיָּ֥רֻםvai.Ya.rumH7311with maggotsתּוֹלָעִ֖יםto.la.'ImH8438and began to smellוַיִּבְאַ֑שׁvai.yiv.'AshH887.So Mosesמֹשֶֽׁה׃mo.ShehH4872was angryוַיִּקְצֹ֥ףvai.yik.TzofH7107with themעֲלֵהֶ֖ם'a.le.HemH5921.

21Every morningH1242אֹתוֹ֙'o.ToH853each oneאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376gatheredוַיִּלְקְט֤וּvai.yil.ke.TuH3950as muchכְּפִ֣יke.FiH6310as was neededאָכְל֑וֹ'a.khe.LoH400,and when the sunהַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁha.She.meshH8121grew hotוְחַ֥םve.ChamH2552,it melted awayוְנָמָֽס׃ve.na.MasH4549.
