1And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 2SendH7971 thou menH376, that they may spyH8446 out the landH776 of CanaanH3667, which I giveH5414 unto the children of IsraelH3478: of every tribeH4294 of their fathersH1 shall ye sendH7971 a manH376, every oneH259 a princeH5387 among them. 3And MosesH4872 sentH7971 them from the wildernessH4057 of ParanH6290 according to the commandment of Jehovah: all of them menH376 who were headsH7218 of the children of IsraelH3478. 4And these were their namesH8034: Of the tribeH4294 of ReubenH7205, ShammuaH8051 the sonH1121 of ZaccurH2139. 5Of the tribeH4294 of SimeonH8095, ShaphatH8202 the sonH1121 of HoriH2753. 6Of the tribeH4294 of JudahH3063, CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312. 7Of the tribeH4294 of IssacharH3485, IgalH3008 the sonH1121 of JosephH3130. 8Of the tribeH4294 of EphraimH669, HosheaH1954 the sonH1121 of NunH5126. 9Of the tribeH4294 of BenjaminH1144, PaltiH6406 the sonH1121 of Raphu. 10Of the tribeH4294 of ZebulunH2074, Gaddiel the sonH1121 of Sodi. 11Of the tribeH4294 of JosephH3130, namely, of the tribeH4294 of ManassehH4519, Gaddi the sonH1121 of Susi. 12Of the tribeH4294 of DanH1835, AmmielH5988 the sonH1121 of Gemalli. 13Of the tribeH4294 of AsherH836, Sethur the sonH1121 of MichaelH4317. 14Of the tribeH4294 of NaphtaliH5321, Nahbi the sonH1121 of Vophsi. 15Of the tribeH4294 of GadH1410, Geuel the sonH1121 of Machi. 16These are the namesH8034 of the menH376 that MosesH4872 sentH7971 to spyH8446 out the landH776. And MosesH4872 calledH7121 HosheaH1954 the sonH1121 of NunH5126 JoshuaH3091.

17And MosesH4872 sentH7971 them to spyH8446 out the landH776 of CanaanH3667, and saidH559 unto them, Get you up this way by the SouthH5045, and goH5927 up into the hill-country: 18and seeH7200 the landH776, what it is; and the peopleH5971 that dwellH3427 therein, whether they are strongH2389 or weak, whether they are fewH4592 or manyH7227; 19and what the landH776 is that they dwellH3427 in, whether it is goodH2896 or badH7451; and what citiesH5892 they are that they dwellH3427 in, whether in campsH4264, or in strongholdsH4013; 20and what the landH776 is, whether it is fat or leanH7330, whether there is woodH6086 therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruitH6529 of the landH776. Now the time was the time of the first-ripe grapes.

21So they wentH935 up, and spiedH8446 out the landH776 from the wildernessH4057 of ZinH6790 unto RehobH7340, to the entrance of HamathH2574. 22And they wentH935 up by the SouthH5045, and cameH935 unto HebronH2275; and AhimanH289, SheshaiH8344, and TalmaiH8526, the children of AnakH6061, were there. (Now HebronH2275 was builtH1129 sevenH7651 yearsH8141 before ZoanH6814 in EgyptH4714.) 23And they cameH935 unto the valley of EshcolH812, and cutH3772 down from thence a branchH2156 with oneH259 clusterH811 of grapes, and they bare it upon a staff between twoH8147; they broughtH935 also of the pomegranatesH7416, and of the figsH8384. 24That placeH4725 was calledH7121 the valley of EshcolH812, because of the clusterH811 which the children of IsraelH3478 cutH3772 down from thence.

25And they returnedH7725 from spyingH8446 out the landH776 at the endH7093 of fortyH705 daysH3117. 26And they wentH935 and cameH935 to MosesH4872, and to AaronH175, and to all the congregationH5712 of the children of IsraelH3478, unto the wildernessH4057 of ParanH6290, to KadeshH6946; and broughtH935 backH7725 wordH1697 unto them, and unto all the congregationH5712, and showedH7200 them the fruitH6529 of the landH776. 27And they told him, and saidH559, We cameH935 unto the landH776 whither thou sentest us; and surely it floweth with milkH2461 and honeyH1706; and this is the fruitH6529 of it. 28Howbeit the peopleH5971 that dwellH3427 in the landH776 are strongH5794, and the citiesH5892 are fortifiedH1219, and veryH3966 greatH1419: and moreover we sawH7200 the children of AnakH6061 there. 29AmalekH6002 dwelleth in the landH776 of the SouthH5045: and the HittiteH2850, and the JebusiteH2983, and the AmoriteH567, dwellH3427 in the hill-country; and the CanaaniteH3669 dwelleth by the seaH3220, and along by the side of the JordanH3383.

30And CalebH3612 stilled the peopleH5971 before MosesH4872, and saidH559, Let us goH5927 up at once, and possessH3423 it; for we are well ableH3201 to overcome it. 31But the menH376 that wentH5927 up with him saidH559, We are not ableH3201 to goH5927 up against the peopleH5971; for they are strongerH2389 than we. 32And they broughtH3318 up an evilH1681 reportH1681 of the landH776 which they had spiedH8446 out unto the children of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, The landH776, through which we have goneH3318 to spyH8446 it out, is a landH776 that eateth up the inhabitantsH3427 thereof; and all the peopleH5971 that we sawH7200 in it are menH376 of great stature. 33And there we sawH7200 the NephilimH5303, the sonsH1121 of AnakH6061, who come of the NephilimH5303: and we wereH1961 in our own sight as grasshoppersH2284, and so we wereH1961 in their sight.
