Numbers 5

1And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 2CommandH6680 the children of IsraelH3478, that they put out of the campH4264 every leper, and every one that hath an issue, and whosoever is uncleanH2931 by the dead: 3both maleH2145 and femaleH5347 shall ye put out, without the campH4264 shall ye put them; that they defileH2930 not their campH4264, in the midstH8432 whereof I dwellH7931. 4And the children of IsraelH3478 did soH3651, and put them out without the campH4264; as Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872, soH3651 did the children of IsraelH3478.

5And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 6SpeakH1696 unto the children of IsraelH3478, When a manH376 or womanH802 shall commit any sinH2403 that menH376 commit, so as to trespass against Jehovah, and that soulH5315 shall be guiltyH816; 7then he shall confessH3034 his sinH2403 which he hath done: and he shall makeH5414 restitution for his guiltH817 in full, and addH3254 unto it the fifthH2549 part thereof, and giveH5414 it unto him in respect of whom he hath been guiltyH816. 8But if the manH376 have no kinsmanH1350 to whom restitution may be made for the guiltH817, the restitution for guiltH817 which is made unto Jehovah shall be the priest’sH3548; besides the ramH352 of the atonementH3725, whereby atonementH3725 shall be made for him. 9And every heave-offering of all the holyH6944 thingsH6944 of the children of IsraelH3478, which they presentH7126 unto the priestH3548, shall beH1961 his. 10And every man’sH376 hallowed thingsH6944 shall beH1961 his: whatsoever any manH376 giveth the priestH3548, it shall beH1961 his.

11And Jehovah spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, 12SpeakH1696 unto the children of IsraelH3478, and sayH559 unto them, If any man’sH376 wifeH802 go asideH7847, and commit a trespass against him, 13and a manH376 lieH7901 with her carnally, and it be hidH5641 from the eyesH5869 of her husbandH376, and be kept close, and she be defiledH2930, and there be no witnessH5707 against her, and she be not taken in the act; 14and the spiritH7307 of jealousyH7068 come upon him, and he be jealousH7065 of his wifeH802, and she be defiledH2930: or if the spiritH7307 of jealousyH7068 come upon him, and he be jealousH7065 of his wifeH802, and she be not defiledH2930: 15then shall the manH376 bringH935 his wifeH802 unto the priestH3548, and shall bringH935 her oblation for her, the tenthH6224 part of an ephahH374 of barleyH8184 meal; he shall pourH3332 no oilH8081 upon it, nor putH5414 frankincenseH3828 thereon; for it is a meal-offering of jealousyH7068, a meal-offering of memorialH2146, bringingH935 iniquityH5771 to remembranceH2142.

16And the priestH3548 shall bringH7126 her near, and setH5975 her before Jehovah: 17and the priestH3548 shall takeH3947 holyH6918 waterH4325 in an earthen vesselH3627; and of the dustH6083 that is on the floorH7172 of the tabernacleH4908 the priestH3548 shall takeH3947, and putH5414 it into the waterH4325. 18And the priestH3548 shall setH5414 the womanH802 before Jehovah, and let the hair of the woman’sH802 headH7218 go loose, and putH5414 the meal-offering of memorialH2146 in her handsH3027, which is the meal-offering of jealousyH7068: and the priestH3548 shall have in his handH3027 the waterH4325 of bitternessH4751 that causeth the curseH779. 19And the priestH3548 shall cause her to swearH7650, and shall sayH559 unto the womanH802, If no manH376 have lainH7901 with thee, and if thou have not gone asideH7847 to uncleannessH2932, being under thy husbandH376, be thou freeH5352 from this waterH4325 of bitternessH4751 that causeth the curseH779. 20But if thou have gone aside, being under thy husbandH376, and if thou be defiledH2930, and some manH376 have lain with thee besides thy husbandH376: 21then the priestH3548 shall cause the womanH802 to swearH7650 with the oathH7621 of cursing, and the priestH3548 shall sayH559 unto the womanH802, Jehovah makeH5414 thee a curseH423 and an oathH7621 among thy peopleH5971, when Jehovah doth makeH5414 thy thighH3409 to fallH5307 away, and thy body to swell; 22and this waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779 shall goH935 into thy bowelsH4578, and make thy body to swellH6638, and thy thighH3409 to fallH5307 away. And the womanH802 shall sayH559, AmenH543, AmenH543.

23And the priestH3548 shall writeH3789 these cursesH423 in a bookH5612, and he shall blot them out into the waterH4325 of bitternessH4751: 24and he shall make the womanH802 drinkH8248 the waterH4325 of bitternessH4751 that causeth the curseH779; and the waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779 shall enter into her and become bitterH4751. 25And the priestH3548 shall takeH3947 the meal-offering of jealousyH7068 out of the woman’sH802 handH3027, and shall waveH5130 the meal-offering before Jehovah, and bringH7126 it unto the altarH4196: 26and the priestH3548 shall takeH7061 a handfulH7061 of the meal-offering, as the memorialH234 thereof, and burn it upon the altarH4196, and afterward shall make the womanH802 drinkH8248 the waterH4325. 27And when he hath made her drinkH8248 the waterH4325, then it shall comeH935 to pass, if she beH1961 defiledH2930, and have committed a trespass against her husbandH376, that the waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779 shall enter into her and becomeH1961 bitterH4751, and her body shall swellH6638, and her thighH3409 shall fallH5307 away: and the womanH802 shall beH1961 a curseH779 among her peopleH5971. 28And if the womanH802 be not defiledH2930, but be cleanH2889; then she shall be freeH5352, and shall conceive seedH2233.

29This is the lawH8451 of jealousyH7068, whenH834 a wifeH802, being under her husbandH376, goeth asideH7847, and is defiledH2930; 30or whenH834 the spiritH7307 of jealousyH7068 cometh upon a manH376, and he is jealousH7065 of his wifeH802; then shall he setH5975 the womanH802 before Jehovah, and the priestH3548 shall execute upon her all this lawH8451. 31And the manH376 shall be freeH5352 from iniquityH5771, and that womanH802 shall bearH5375 her iniquityH5771.
