Hebrews 12:6-29

6For whom the LordG2962 loveth he chasteneth,And scourgeth every sonG5207 whom he receiveth.

7It is for chastening that ye endureG5278; GodG2316 dealeth with you as with sonsG5207; for what sonG5207 is there whom his fatherG3962 chasteneth not? 8But if ye areG1510 without chastening, whereof all have beenG1510 made partakersG3353, then areG1510 ye bastards, and not sonsG5207. 9Furthermore, we had the fathersG3962 of our fleshG4561 to chasten us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not muchG4183 ratherG3123 be in subjectionG5293 unto the FatherG3962 of spiritsG4151, and liveG2198? 10For they indeedG1063 for a fewG3641 daysG2250 chastened us as seemedG1380 goodG1380 to them; but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness. 11All chastening seemeth for the presentG3918 to beG1510 not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yieldeth peaceableG1516 fruitG2590 unto them that have beenG1510 exercised thereby, even the fruitG2590 of righteousnessG1343. 12Wherefore lift up the handsG5495 that hang down, and the palsied kneesG1119; 13and makeG4160 straight paths for your feetG4228, that that which is lameG5560 be not turnedG1624 out of the way, but ratherG3123 be healedG2390.

14Follow after peaceG1515 with all men, and the sanctificationG38 without which no man shall seeG3708 the LordG2962: 15looking carefully lestG3361there beany manG3778 that falleth shortG5302 of the graceG5485 of GodG2316; lestG3361 any rootG4491 of bitternessG4088 springing up trouble you, and thereby the manyG4183 be defiled; 16lestG3361 there be any fornicator, or profaneG952 person, as EsauG2269, who for oneG1520 mess of meat sold his ownG1438 birthright. 17For ye know that evenG2532 when he afterward desiredG2309 to inheritG2816 the blessingG2129, he was rejectedG593; for he foundG2147 no placeG5117 for a change of mind in his father, though he sought it diligently with tearsG1144.

18For ye are not comeG4334 unto a mount that might be touchedG5584, and that burnedG2545 with fireG4442, and unto blackness, and darknessG2217, and tempest, 19and the soundG5456 of a trumpetG4536, and the voiceG5456 of wordsG3056; which voiceG5456 they that heardG191 entreated that no wordG3056 more should be spoken unto them; 20for they could not endure that which was enjoined, If even a beastG2342 touchG2345 the mountainG3735, it shall be stoned; 21and so fearfulG5398 wasG1510 the appearance, that MosesG3475 saidG3004, I exceedingly fear and quake: 22but ye are comeG4334 unto mountG3735 ZionG4622, and unto the cityG4172 of the livingG2198 GodG2316, the heavenlyG2032 JerusalemG2419, and to innumerable hosts of angelsG32, 23to the general assemblyG1577 and churchG1577 of the firstbornG4416 who are enrolled in heavenG3772, and to GodG2316 the JudgeG2923 of all, and to the spiritsG4151 of justG1342 men madeG5048 perfectG5048, 24and to JesusG2424 the mediatorG3316 of a newG3501 covenantG1242, and to the bloodG129 of sprinkling that speaketh better than that of AbelG6. 25SeeG991 that ye refuseG3868 not him that speaketh. For if they escapedG1628 not when they refused him that warnedG5537 them on earthG1093, muchG4183 moreG3123 shall not we escapeG1628 who turnG654 awayG654 from him that warneth from heavenG3772: 26whose voiceG5456 then shook the earthG1093: but nowG1161 he hath promisedG1861, sayingG3004, Yet onceG530 moreG2089 will I make to tremble not the earthG1093 onlyG3440, but alsoG2532 the heavenG3772. 27And this word, Yet onceG530 moreG2089, signifieth the removing of those things that are shakenG4531, as of things that have been madeG4160, that those things which are not shakenG4531 may remainG3306. 28Wherefore, receiving a kingdomG932 that cannot be shaken, let us have graceG5485, whereby we may offer service well-pleasing to GodG2316 with reverenceG2124 and awe: 29for our GodG2316 is a consuming fireG4442.
