2 Kings 10:1-10

1Now AhabH256 had seventyH7657 sonsH1121 in SamariaH8111. And JehuH3058 wroteH3789 lettersH5612, and sentH7971 to SamariaH8111, unto the rulers of JezreelH3157, even the eldersH2205, and unto them that brought up the sonsH1121 of AhabH256, sayingH559,

2And nowH6258 as soon as this letterH5612 cometh to you, seeing your master’sH113 sonsH1121 are with you, and there are with you chariotsH7393 and horsesH5483, a fortified cityH5892 also, and armor;

3lookH7200 ye out the bestH2896 and meetest of your master’sH113 sonsH1121, and setH7760 him on his father’sH1 throneH3678, and fightH3898 for your master’sH113 houseH1004.

4But they were exceedinglyH3966 afraidH3372, and saidH559, Behold, the twoH8147 kingsH4428 stoodH5975 not before him: howH349 then shall we standH5975?

5And he that was over the householdH1004, and he that was over the cityH5892, the eldersH2205 also, and they that brought up the children, sentH7971 to JehuH3058, sayingH559, We are thy servantsH5650, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not makeH6213 any manH376 kingH4427: do thou that which is goodH2896 in thine eyesH5869.

6Then he wroteH3789 a letterH5612 the secondH8145 timeH6256 to them, sayingH559, If ye be on my side, and if ye will hearken unto my voiceH6963, takeH3947 ye the headsH7218 of the menH376 your master’sH113 sonsH1121, and comeH935 to me to JezreelH3157 by to-morrow this timeH6256. Now the king’sH4428 sonsH1121, being seventyH7657 personsH376, were with the greatH1419 menH376 of the cityH5892, who broughtH935 them up.

7And it cameH935 to pass, when the letterH5612 cameH935 to them, that they tookH3947 the king’sH4428 sonsH1121, and slew them, even seventyH7657 personsH376, and putH7760 their headsH7218 in basketsH1731, and sentH7971 them unto him to JezreelH3157.

8And there cameH935 a messengerH4397, and toldH5046 him, sayingH559, They have broughtH935 the headsH7218 of the king’sH4428 sonsH1121. And he saidH559, Lay ye them in twoH8147 heaps at the entranceH6607 of the gateH8179 until the morningH1242.

9And it came to pass in the morningH1242, that he wentH3318 out, and stoodH5975, and saidH559 to all the peopleH5971, Ye are righteousH6662: behold, I conspired against my masterH113, and slewH2026 him; but who smote all these?

10KnowH3045 now that there shall fallH5307 unto the earthH776 nothing of the wordH1697 of Jehovah, which Jehovah spake concerning the houseH1004 of AhabH256: for Jehovah hath done that which he spake by his servantH5650 ElijahH452.
