18TrulyἀμὴνamēnG281,trulyἀμὴνamēnG281I tellλέγωlegōG3004you, whenὅτεhoteG3753you were youngerνεώτερος,neōterosG3501,you used to putG2224onG2224your beltG2224and walkπεριεπάτειςperiepateisG4043whereverὅπουhopouG3699you wantedἤθελες.ēthelesG2309;but whenὅτανhotanG3752you growG1095oldG1095,you will stretchἐκτενεῖςekteneisG1614outG1614your handsχεῖράςcheirasG5495and someoneG243elseG243will putG2224your beltG2224onG2224you, and bringοἴσειoiseiG5342youwhereὅπουhopouG3699you do not wantθέλεις.theleisG2309to go.”

19NowδὲdeG1161He saidλέγειlegeiG3004thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778,indicatingσημαίνωνsēmainōnG4591bywhatG4169kindG4169of deathθανάτῳthanatōG2288he would glorifyδοξάσειdoxaseiG1392Godθεόν.theonG2316.And when He had saidG3004thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778,He saidG3004to him, “FollowἀκολούθειakoloutheiG190Me!”

21SoοὖνounG3767PeterΠέτροςPetrosG4074,upon seeingG3708him, saidλέγειlegeiG3004to JesusἸησοῦ·IēsouG2424, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,and whatτί;tiG5101aboutthisτοῦτονtoutonG3778manοὗτοςhoutosG3778?”

22JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidλέγειlegeiG3004to him,“IfἐὰνeanG1437I wantθέλωthelōG2309him to remainμένεινmeneinG3306untilἕωςhe'ōsG2193I comeἔρχομαι,erchomaiG2064,whatτίtiG5101is that to you? Youfollowἀκολούθει.¶akoloutheiG190Me!”

23ThereforeοὖνounG3767thisοὗτοςhoutosG3778accountλόγοςlogosG3056wentG1831outG1831amongεἰςeisG1519the brothersἀδελφοὺςadelphousG80,that that discipleμαθητὴςmathētēsG3101would not dieἀποθνῄσκει·apothnēskeiG599;yetδὲdeG1161JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424did not sayG3004to him that he would not dieἀποθνῄσκει,apothnēskeiG599, but only,“IfἐὰνeanG1437I wantθέλωthelōG2309him to remainμένεινmeneinG3306untilἕωςhe'ōsG2193I comeἔρχομαι,erchomaiG2064,whatτίtiG5101is that to you?”

24ThisG3778is the discipleμαθητὴςmathētēsG3101whois testifyingμαρτυρῶνmarturōnG3140aboutπερὶperiG4012theseG3778thingsG3778and wroteγράψαςgrapsasG1125theseG3778thingsG3778,and we knowG3609that his testimonyμαρτυρίαmarturiaG3141is trueἀληθὴςalēthēsG227.
