Genesis 37:29-35

29Now Reubenרְאוּבֵן֙re.'u.VenH7205returnedוַיָּ֤שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725to the pitהַבּ֔וֹרha.BorH953,and beholdוְהִנֵּ֥הve.hi.NehH2009,Josephיוֹסֵ֖ףyo.SefH3130was not in the pitבַּבּ֑וֹרba.BorH953; so hetoreוַיִּקְרַ֖עvai.yik.Ra'H7167his garmentsבְּגָדָֽיו׃be.ga.DavH899.

30He returnedוַיָּ֥שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725to his brothersאֶחָ֖יו'e.ChavH251and saidוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559, “The boyהַיֶּ֣לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206is not there;as for me, whereאָ֥נָה'A.nahH575am I to goבָֽא׃Va'H935?”

31Sothey tookוַיִּקְח֖וּvai.yik.ChuH3947Joseph’sיוֹסֵ֑ףyo.SefH3130tunicכְּתֹ֣נֶתke.To.netH3801,and slaughteredוַֽיִּשְׁחֲטוּ֙vai.yish.cha.TuH7819a maleשְׂעִ֣ירse.'IrH8163goatH8163,and dippedוַיִּטְבְּל֥וּvai.yit.be.LuH2881the tunicהַכֻּתֹּ֖נֶתha.ku.To.netH3801in the bloodבַּדָּֽם׃ba.DamH1818;

32and they sentוַֽיְשַׁלְּח֞וּvay.sha.le.ChuH7971themulticoloredהַפַּסִּ֗יםha.pa.SimH6446tunicכְּתֹ֣נֶתke.To.netH3801and broughtוַיָּבִ֙יאוּ֙vai.ya.Vi.'uH935it to their fatherאֲבִיהֶ֔ם'a.vi.HemH1and saidוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “We foundמָצָ֑אנוּma.Tza.nuH4672thisH2088;pleaseנָ֗אNa'H4994examineהַכֶּר־ha.ker-H5234it to see whetherit is your son’sבִּנְךָ֛bin.KhaH1121tunicהַכְּתֹ֧נֶתha.ke.To.netH3801orאִם־'im-H518not.”

33Then heexaminedוַיַּכִּירָ֤הּvai.ya.ki.RahH5234it and saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “It ismy son’sבְּנִ֔יbe.NiH1121tunicכְּתֹ֣נֶתke.To.netH3801.A viciousרָעָ֖הra.'AhH7451animalH2421has devouredאֲכָלָ֑תְהוּ'a.kha.La.te.huH398him;Josephיוֹסֵֽף׃yo.SefH3130has surelyH2963been tornH2963toH2963piecesH2963!”

34So Jacobיַעֲקֹב֙ya.'a.KoH3290toreוַיִּקְרַ֤עvai.yik.Ra'H7167his clothesשִׂמְלֹתָ֔יוsim.lo.TavH8071,and putוַיָּ֥שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760on a sackclothשַׂ֖קsakH8242undergarmentover his waistבְּמָתְנָ֑יוbe.ma.te.NavH4975,and mournedוַיִּתְאַבֵּ֥לvai.yit.'a.BelH56for his sonבְּנ֖וֹbe.NoH1121manyרַבִּֽים׃ra.BimH7227daysיָמִ֥יםya.MimH3117.

35Then allכָל־khol-H3605his sonsבָּנָ֨יוba.NavH1121and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605his daughtersבְּנֹתָ֜יוbe.no.TavH1323gotH6965upH6965to comfortלְנַחֲמ֗וֹle.na.cha.MoH5162him, but he refusedוַיְמָאֵן֙vay.ma.'EnH3985to be comfortedלְהִתְנַחֵ֔םle.hit.na.ChemH5162.And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Surelyכִּֽי־ki-H3588I willgoאֵרֵ֧ד'e.RedH3381downH3381to Sheolשְׁאֹ֑לָהshe.'O.lahH7585in mourningאָבֵ֖ל'a.VelH57for my sonבְּנִ֛יbe.NiH1121.”So his fatherאָבִֽיו׃'a.VivH1weptוַיֵּ֥בְךְּvai.Ye.vekH1058for him.
