2For you yourselvesαὐτοὶautoiG846knowG3609fullG199wellG199thatthe dayἡμέραhēmeraG2250of the LordκυρίουkuriouG2962is comingἔρχεται·erchetaiG2064justG5613likeG5613a thiefκλέπτηςkleptēsG2812in the nightνυκτὶnuktiG3571.

3WhileὅτανhotanG3752they are sayingλέγωσιν·legōsinG3004, “PeaceεἰρήνηeirēnēG1515and safetyἀσφάλεια,asphaleiaG803!”thenτότεtoteG5119suddenαἰφνίδιοςaiphnidiosG160destructionὄλεθροςolethrosG3639will comeG2186uponG2186them likeὥσπερhōsperG5618laborG5604painsὠδὶνōdinG5604upon a pregnantἐν γαστρὶen gastriG1722 G1064woman, and they will not escapeἐκφύγωσιν.¶ekphugōsinG1628.

4But you, brothersἀδελφοί,adelphoiG80and sisters, are not indarknessσκότει,skoteiG4655,soG2443thatG2443the dayἡμέραhēmeraG2250would overtakeκαταλάβῃ·katalabēG2638youlikeὡςhōsG5613a thiefκλέπτηςkleptēsG2812;

5for you are allπάντεςpantesG3956sonsυἱοὶhuioiG5207of lightφωτόςphōtosG5457and sonsυἱοὶhuioiG5207of dayἡμέρας·hēmerasG2250.We are not of nightνυκτὸςnuktosG3571norοὐδὲoudeG3761ofdarknessσκότους.¶skotousG4655;

6soἌραAraG686thenοὖνounG3767, let’s notsleepκαθεύδωμενkatheudōmenG2518asothersλοιποὶloipoiG3062do, but let’s be alertγρηγορῶμενgrēgorōmenG1127andsoberνήφωμεν.nēphōmenG3525.

7For thoseοἱhoiG3588who sleepκαθεύδοντεςkatheudontesG2518,sleepκαθεύδουσινkatheudousinG2518at nightνυκτὸςnuktosG3571,and thoseοἱhoiG3588who areG3182drunkμεθυσκόμενοιmethuskomenoiG3182,getG3184drunkμεθύουσιν·methuousinG3184at nightνυκτὸςnuktosG3571.

8But since we are of thedayἡμέραςhēmerasG2250, let’s besoberνήφωμενnēphōmenG3525,having putἐνδυσάμενοιendusamenoiG1746on thebreastplateθώρακαthōrakaG2382offaithπίστεωςpisteōsG4102and loveἀγάπηςagapēsG26, and as ahelmetπερικεφαλαίανperikephalaianG4030, thehopeἐλπίδαelpidaG1680of salvationσωτηρίας·sōtēriasG4991.

9For GodθεὸςtheosG2316has not destinedἔθετοethetoG5087us forwrathὀργὴνorgēnG3709, but forobtainingπεριποίησινperipoiēsinG4047salvationσωτηρίαςsōtēriasG4991throughδιὰdiaG1223our LordκυρίουkuriouG2962JesusἸησοῦIēsouG2424ChristΧριστοῦChristouG5547,

10who diedἀποθανόντοςapothanontosG599for us, soἵναinaG2443thatG2443whetherεἴτεeiteG1535we are awakeγρηγορῶμενgrēgorōmenG1127orεἴτεeiteG1535asleepκαθεύδωμενkatheudōmenG2518,we will liveζήσωμεν.¶zēsōmenG2198togetherἅμαhamaG260with Him.

11ThereforeΔιὸDioG1352,encourageπαρακαλεῖτεparakaleiteG3870oneἀλλήλουςallēlousG240anotherG240andbuildοἰκοδομεῖτεoikodomeiteG3618oneεἷςheisG1520anotherἕναhenaG1520upG3618,justG2531asG2531you alsoG2532are doingποιεῖτε.¶poieiteG4160.
