36Then Abigailאֲבִיגַ֣יִל׀'a.vi.Ga.yilH26cameוַתָּבֹ֣אva.ta.Vo'H935to Nabalנָבָ֡לna.ValH5037,and beholdוְהִנֵּה־ve.hi.neh-H2009, he was havinga feastמִשְׁתֶּ֨הmish.TehH4960in his houseבְּבֵית֜וֹbe.vei.ToH1004,like the feastכְּמִשְׁתֵּ֣הke.mish.TehH4960of a kingהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428.And Nabal’sנָבָל֙na.ValH5037heartוְלֵ֤בve.LevH3820was cheerfulט֣וֹבTovH2895withinעָלָ֔יו'a.LavH5921him,for he was veryעַד־ מְאֹ֑ד'ad- me.'OdH5704 H3966drunkשִׁכֹּ֖רshi.KorH7910; soshe did not tellהִגִּ֣ידָהhi.Gi.dahH5046him anythingדָּבָ֥רda.VarH1697at allקָטֹ֛ן וְגָד֖וֹלka.Ton ve.ga.DolH6996 H1419untilעַד־'ad-H5704the morningהַבֹּֽקֶר׃ha.Bo.kerH1242lightא֥וֹר'orH216.

37But in the morningבַבֹּ֗קֶרva.Bo.kerH1242,when the wineהַיַּ֙יִן֙hai.Ya.yinH3196had goneH3318outH3318of Nabalמִנָּבָ֔לmi.na.ValH5037,his wifeאִשְׁתּ֔וֹ'ish.ToH802toldוַתַּגֶּד־va.ta.ged-H5046him theseהָאֵ֑לֶּהha.'E.lehH428thingsהַדְּבָרִ֖יםha.de.va.RimH1697,and his heartלִבּוֹ֙li.BoH3820diedוַיָּ֤מָתvai.Ya.motH4191withinבְּקִרְבּ֔וֹbe.kir.BoH7130him so that he becameH1961likea stoneלְאָֽבֶן׃le.'A.venH68.

38About tenכַּעֲשֶׂ֣רֶתka.'a.Se.retH6235daysהַיָּמִ֑יםhai.ya.MimH3117later,the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068struckוַיִּגֹּ֧ףvai.yi.GofH5062Nabalנָבָ֖לna.ValH5037and he diedוַיָּמֹֽת׃vai.ya.MotH4191.

39When Davidדָּוִד֮da.VidH1732heardוַיִּשְׁמַ֣עvai.yish.Ma'H8085that Nabalנָבָל֒na.ValH5037was deadמֵ֣תmetH4191,he saidוַיֹּ֡אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Blessedבָּר֣וּךְba.RukhH1288be the Lordיְהוָ֡הYah.wehH3068,whoאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834haspleadedרָב֩ravH7378the causeרִ֨יבrivH7379of the shameH2781inflictedH2781on me by the handמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027of Nabalנָבָ֗לna.ValH5037, andhas keptH2820backH2820His servantעַבְדּוֹ֙av.DoH5650from evilH7463.The Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068has also returnedהֵשִׁ֥יבhe.ShivH7725the evildoingH7463of Nabalנָבָ֔לna.ValH5037on his own headבְּרֹאשׁ֑וֹbe.ro.ShoH7218.”Then Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971a proposalוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696to Abigailבַּאֲבִיגַ֔יִלba.'a.vi.Ga.yilH26,to takeלְקַחְתָּ֥הּle.kach.TahH3947her as his wifeלְאִשָּֽׁה׃le.'i.ShahH802.

40When the servantsעַבְדֵ֥י'av.DeiH5650of Davidדָוִ֛דda.VidH1732cameוַיָּבֹ֜אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to Abigailאֲבִיגַ֖יִל'a.vi.Ga.yilH26at Carmelהַכַּרְמֶ֑לָהha.kar.Me.lahH3760,they spokeוַיְדַבְּר֤וּvay.da.be.RuH1696to her, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732has sentשְׁלָחָ֣נוּshe.la.Cha.nuH7971us to you to takeלְקַחְתֵּ֥ךְle.kach.TekhH3947you to him as hiswifeלְאִשָּֽׁה׃le.'i.ShahH802.”

41And she gotH6965upH6965and bowedH2331with her faceאַפַּ֖יִם'a.Pa.yimH639to the groundאָ֑רְצָה'A.re.tzahH776,and saidוַתֹּ֗אמֶרva.To.merH559, “Beholdהִנֵּ֤הhi.NehH2009,your slaveאֲמָֽתְךָ֙'a.ma.te.KhaH519is a servantלְשִׁפְחָ֔הle.shif.ChahH8198to washלִרְחֹ֕ץlir.ChotzH7364the feetרַגְלֵ֖יrag.LeiH7272of my lord’sאֲדֹנִֽי׃'a.do.NiH113servantsעַבְדֵ֥י'av.DeiH5650.”

42ThenAbigailאֲבִיגַ֗יִל'a.vi.Ga.yilH26gotH6965upH6965quicklyוַתְּמַהֵ֞רva.te.ma.HerH4116,and rodeוַתִּרְכַּב֙va.tir.KavH7392on a donkeyהַחֲמ֔וֹרha.cha.MorH2543,with her fiveוְחָמֵשׁ֙ve.cha.MeshH2568femaleH5291attendantsH5291whoaccompaniedהַהֹלְכ֖וֹת לְרַגְלָ֑הּha.ho.le.Khot le.rag.LahH1980 H7272her; and she followedוַתֵּ֗לֶךְ אַֽחֲרֵי֙va.Te.lekh 'a.cha.ReiH1980 H310the messengersמַלְאֲכֵ֣יmal.'a.KheiH4397of Davidדָוִ֔דda.VidH1732and becameוַתְּהִי־va.te.hi-H1961his wifeלְאִשָּֽׁה׃le.'i.ShahH802.

43Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732had also takenלָקַ֥חla.KachH3947Ahinoamאֲחִינֹ֛עַם'a.chi.No.'amH293ofJezreelמִֽיִּזְרְעֶ֑אלmi.yiz.re.'ElH3157, andthey bothגַּֽם־ שְׁתֵּיהֶ֥ןgam- she.tei.HenH1571 H8147becameוַתִּהְיֶ֛יןָva.tih.Yei.naH1961his wivesלְנָשִֽׁים׃ סle.na.ShimH802.

44But Saulוְשָׁא֗וּלve.sha.'UlH7586had givenנָתַ֛ןna.TanH5414his daughterבִּתּ֖וֹbi.ToH1323Michalמִיכַ֥לmi.KhalH4324,David’sדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732wifeאֵ֣שֶׁת'E.shetH802,to Paltiלְפַלְטִ֥יle.fal.TiH6406the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Laishלַ֖יִשׁLa.yishH3919,whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834was fromGallimמִגַּלִּֽים׃mi.ga.LimH1554.
