2So Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732setH6965outH6965and wentH5674overH5674, he andthe sixוְשֵׁשׁ־ve.shesh-H8337hundredמֵא֥וֹתme.'otH3967menאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376whoאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834were with him, toAchishאָכִ֥ישׁ'a.KhishH397the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Maochמָע֖וֹךְma.'okhH4582,kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Gathגַּֽת׃GatH1661.

3And Davidדָּוִ֨דda.VidH1732livedוַיֵּשֶׁב֩vai.ye.ShevH3427with Achishאָכִ֥ישׁ'a.KhishH397in Gathבְּגַ֛תbe.GatH1661,he and his menH376,eachH376with his ownhouseholdוּבֵית֑וֹu.vei.ToH1004--Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732withhis twoוּשְׁתֵּ֣יu.she.TeiH8147wivesנָשָׁ֔יוna.ShavH802,Ahinoamאֲחִינֹ֙עַם֙'a.chi.No.'amH293the JezreelitessH3159,and Abigailוַאֲבִיגַ֥יִלva.'a.vi.Ga.yilH26the Carmelitessהַֽכַּרְמְלִֽית׃Ha.kar.me.LitH3761,Nabal’sנָבָ֖לna.ValH5037widowאֵֽשֶׁת־'e.shet-H802.

4Now it was reportedוַיֻּגַּ֣דvai.yu.GadH5046to Saulלְשָׁא֔וּלle.sha.'UlH7586that Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732had fledבָרַ֥חva.RachH1272to Gathגַּ֑תGatH1661,so he noוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808longerיָסַ֥ף ע֖וֹדyo.saf odH3254 H5750searchedלְבַקְשֽׁוֹ׃ סle.vak.ShoH1245for him.

5Then Davidדָּוִ֜דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Achishאָכִ֗ישׁ'a.KhishH397, “Ifאִם־'im-H518nowנָא֩na'H4994I have foundמָצָ֨אתִיma.Tza.tiH4672favorחֵ֤ןchenH2580in your sightבְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙be.'ei.Nei.khaH5869,have them giveיִתְּנוּ־yi.te.nu-H5414me a placeמָק֗וֹםma.KomH4725in oneבְּאַחַ֛תbe.'a.ChatH259of the citiesעָרֵ֥י'a.ReiH5892in the countryהַשָּׂדֶ֖הha.sa.DehH7704,so that I may liveוְאֵ֣שְׁבָהve.'E.she.vahH3427thereשָּׁ֑םShamH8033;for whyוְלָ֨מָּהve.La.mahH4100should your servantעַבְדְּךָ֛'av.de.KhaH5650liveיֵשֵׁ֧בye.ShevH3427in the royalהַמַּמְלָכָ֖הha.mam.la.KhahH4467cityבְּעִ֥ירbe.'IrH5892with you?”

6So Achishאָכִ֛ישׁ'a.KhishH397gaveוַיִּתֶּן־vai.yi.ten-H5414him Ziklagצִֽקְלָ֑גtzik.LagH6860that dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117;thereforeלָכֵ֞ןla.KhenH3651Ziklagצִֽקְלַג֙tzik.LagH6860hasהָיְתָ֤הha.ye.TahH1961belonged to the kingsלְמַלְכֵ֣יle.mal.KheiH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063to thisהַזֶּֽה׃ פha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.

7The numberמִסְפַּ֣רmis.ParH4557of daysהַיָּמִ֔יםhai.ya.MimH3117that Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732livedיָשַׁ֥בya.ShavH3427in the countryבִּשְׂדֵ֣הbis.DehH7704of the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֑יםfe.lish.TimH6430wasa yearיָמִ֖יםya.MimH3117and fourוְאַרְבָּעָ֥הve.'ar.ba.'AhH702monthsחֳדָשִֽׁים׃cho.da.ShimH2320.

10Now Achishאָכִ֔ישׁ'a.KhishH397saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “WhereH575did youcarryH6584outH6584anH6584attackH6584todayהַיּ֑וֹםhai.YomH3117?”And Davidדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Againstעַל־'al-H5921theNegevנֶ֤גֶבNe.gevH5045of Judahיְהוּדָה֙ye.hu.DahH3063,againstוְעַל־ve.'al-H5921theNegevנֶ֣גֶבNe.gevH5045ofthe Jerahmeelitesהַיַּרְחְמְאֵלִ֔יhai.yar.che.me.'e.LiH3397,and againstH413theNegevנֶ֖גֶבNe.gevH5045ofthe Kenitesהַקֵּינִֽי׃ha.kei.NiH7017.”

11And Davidדָוִ֗דda.VidH1732did not leaveH2421a manוְאִ֨ישׁve.'IshH376or a womanוְאִשָּׁ֜הve.'i.ShahH802aliveH2421to bringלְהָבִ֥יאle.ha.Vi'H935to Gathגַת֙gatH1661,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Otherwiseפֶּן־pen-H6435they will tellיַגִּ֥דוּya.Gi.duH5046aboutעָלֵ֖ינוּ'a.Lei.nuH5921us, sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, ‘ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541Davidדָוִד֙da.VidH1732has doneעָשָׂ֤ה'a.SahH6213,and thisH3541has beenhis practiceמִשְׁפָּט֔וֹmish.pa.ToH4941allכָּל־kol-H3605the timeהַ֨יָּמִ֔יםhai.ya.MimH3117that he has livedיָשַׁ֖בya.ShavH3427in the countryבִּשְׂדֵ֥הbis.DehH7704of the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃fe.lish.TimH6430.’”

12So Achishאָכִ֖ישׁ'a.KhishH397believedוַיַּאֲמֵ֥ןvai.ya.'a.MenH539Davidבְּדָוִ֣דbe.da.VidH1732,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “He has undoubtedlyH887madeH887himself repulsiveH887among his peopleבְּעַמּ֣וֹbe.'a.MoH5971Israelבְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לve.Yis.ra.'ElH3478;therefore he will becomeוְהָ֥יָהve.Ha.yahH1961my servantלְעֶ֥בֶדle.'E.vedH5650foreverעוֹלָֽם׃ פo.LamH5769.”
