5Afterwardאַ֣חַר כֵּ֗ן'A.char KenH310 H3651you will comeתָּבוֹא֙ta.Vo'H935tothe hillH1389of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430whereאֲשֶׁר־ שָׁ֖ם'a.Sher- shamH834 H8033the Philistineפְלִשְׁתִּ֑יםfe.lish.TimH6430garrisonנְצִבֵ֣יne.tzi.VeiH5333is; and it shall be as soon as you have comeכְבֹאֲךָ֨khe.vo.'a.KhaH935thereשָׁ֜םshamH8033to the cityהָעִ֗ירha.'IrH5892,that you will meetוּפָגַעְתָּ֞u.fa.ga'.TaH6293a groupחֶ֤בֶלChe.velH2256of prophetsנְבִיאִים֙ne.vi.'ImH5030comingH3381downיֹרְדִ֣יםyo.re.DimH3381from the highמֵֽהַבָּמָ֔הme.ha.ba.MahH1116placeH1116with harpנֵ֤בֶלNe.velH5035,tambourineוְתֹף֙ve.TofH8596,fluteוְחָלִ֣ילve.cha.LilH2485,and a lyreוְכִנּ֔וֹרve.khi.NorH3658in frontוְלִפְנֵיהֶ֞םve.lif.nei.HemH6440of them, andthey will be prophesyingמִֽתְנַבְּאִֽים׃Mit.na.be.'ImH5012.

6Thenthe Spiritר֣וּחַRu.achH7307of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068will rushוְצָלְחָ֤הve.tza.le.ChahH6743uponעָלֶ֙יךָ֙'a.Lei.khaH5921you, andyou will prophesyוְהִתְנַבִּ֖יתָve.hit.na.Bi.taH5012with them and be changedוְנֶהְפַּכְתָּ֖ve.neh.pakh.TaH2015into a differentאַחֵֽר׃'a.CherH312manלְאִ֥ישׁle.'IshH376.

7And it shall be whenכִּ֥יkiH3588theseהָאֵ֖לֶּהha.'E.lehH428signsהָאֹת֥וֹתha.'o.TotH226comeתָבֹ֛אנָהte.vo.'ei.nahH935to you,doעֲשֵׂ֤ה'a.SehH6213for yourself whatאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834the occasionיָדֶ֔ךָya.De.khaH3027requiresתִּמְצָ֣אtim.Tza'H4672,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430is with you.

8Andyou shall goוְיָרַדְתָּ֣ve.ya.rad.TaH3381downH3381aheadלְפָנַי֮le.fa.NaiH6440of me to Gilgalהַגִּלְגָּל֒ha.gil.GalH1537;and beholdוְהִנֵּ֤הve.hi.NehH2009,I will be comingיֹרֵ֣דyo.RedH3381downH3381to you to offerלְהַעֲל֣וֹתle.ha.'a.LotH5927burntעֹל֔וֹתo.LotH5930offeringsH5930andsacrificeלִזְבֹּ֖חַliz.Bo.achH2076peaceשְׁלָמִ֑יםshe.la.MimH8002offeringsH8002.You shall waitתּוֹחֵל֙to.ChelH3176sevenשִׁבְעַ֨תshiv.'AtH7651daysיָמִ֤יםya.MimH3117untilעַד־'ad-H5704I comeבּוֹאִ֣יbo.'IH935to you and informוְהוֹדַעְתִּ֣יve.ho.da'.TiH3045you of whatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you should doתַּעֲשֶֽׂה׃ta.'a.SehH6213.”

9Then it happenedוְהָיָ֗הve.ha.YahH1961,when he turnedכְּהַפְנֹת֤וֹke.haf.no.ToH6437his backשִׁכְמוֹ֙shikh.MoH7926to leaveלָלֶ֙כֶת֙ מֵעִ֣םla.Le.khet me.'ImH1980 H4480 H5973Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֔לshe.mu.'ElH8050,that Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430changedוַיַּהֲפָךְ־vai.ya.ha.fokh-H2015his heartלֵ֣בlevH3820;and allכָּל־kol-H3605thoseהָאֵ֖לֶּהha.'E.lehH428signsהָאֹת֥וֹתha.'o.TotH226cameH935aboutH935on that dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117.

10When they cameוַיָּבֹ֤אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935thereשָׁם֙shamH8033tothe hillH1389,beholdוְהִנֵּ֥הve.hi.NehH2009,a groupחֶֽבֶל־che.vel-H2256of prophetsנְבִאִ֖יםne.vi.'ImH5030metלִקְרָאת֑וֹlik.ra.ToH7122him; and the Spiritר֣וּחַRu.achH7307of Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430rushedוַתִּצְלַ֤חva.titz.LachH6743uponעָלָיו֙'a.LavH5921him, so that he prophesiedוַיִּתְנַבֵּ֖אvai.yit.na.Be'H5012amongבְּתוֹכָֽם׃be.to.KhamH8432them.

11And it cameH1961aboutH1961,when allכָּל־kol-H3605who previouslyמֵאִתְּמ֣וֹל שִׁלְשׁ֔וֹםme.'i.te.Mol shil.ShomH4480 H8032 H865knewיֽוֹדְעוֹ֙yod.'OH3045him sawוַיִּרְא֕וּvai.yir.'UH7200that he was indeedוְהִנֵּ֥הve.hi.NehH2009prophesyingנִבָּ֑אni.Ba'H5012with the prophetsנְבִאִ֖יםne.vi.'ImH5030,that the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to oneאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376anotherרֵעֵ֗הוּre.'E.huH7453, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100is thisזֶּה֙zehH2088that has happenedH1961to the sonלְבֶן־le.ven-H1121of Kishקִ֔ישׁKishH7027?Is Saulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586alsoהֲגַ֥םha.GamH1571among the prophetsבַּנְּבִיאִֽים׃ba.ne.vi.'ImH5030?”

12And a manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376from thereמִשָּׁ֛םmi.ShamH8033respondedוַיַּ֨עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030and saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “And whoוּמִ֣יu.MiH4310is their fatherאֲבִיהֶ֑ם'a.vi.HemH1?”Thereforeעַל־ כֵּן֙'al- kenH5921 H3651it becameהָיְתָ֣הha.ye.TahH1961a sayingלְמָשָׁ֔לle.ma.ShalH4912: “Is Saulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586alsoהֲגַ֥םha.GamH1571among the prophetsבַּנְּבִאִֽים׃ba.ne.vi.'ImH5030?”

13When he had finishedוַיְכַל֙vay.KhalH3615prophesyingמֵֽהִתְנַבּ֔וֹתme.hit.na.BotH5012,he cameוַיָּבֹ֖אvai.ya.Vo'H935to the highהַבָּמָֽה׃ha.ba.MahH1116placeH1116.

14NowSaul’sשָׁא֥וּלsha.'UlH7586uncleדּ֨וֹדDodH1730saidוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559to him and his servantנַעֲר֖וֹna.'a.RoH5288, “Whereאָ֣ן'anH575did you goהֲלַכְתֶּ֑םha.lakh.TemH1980?”And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “To lookH1245forH1245the donkeysהָ֣אֲתֹנ֔וֹתha.'a.to.NotH860.When we sawוַנִּרְאֶ֣הva.nir.'EhH7200that they were nowhereאַ֔יִן'A.yinH369to be found,we wentוַנָּב֖וֹאva.na.Vo'H935to Samuelשְׁמוּאֵֽל׃she.mu.'ElH8050.”

15Saul’sשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586uncleדּ֣וֹדDodH1730saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Pleaseנָּ֣אna'H4994tellהַגִּֽידָה־ha.gi.dah-H5046me whatמָֽה־mah-H4100Samuelשְׁמוּאֵֽל׃she.mu.'ElH8050saidאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559to you.”

16So Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to his uncleדּוֹד֔וֹdo.DoH1730, “He toldהַגֵּ֤דha.GedH5046us plainlyהִגִּיד֙hi.GidH5046that the donkeysהָאֲתֹנ֑וֹתha.'a.to.NotH860had been foundנִמְצְא֖וּnim.tze.'UH4672.”But he did not tellהִגִּ֣ידhi.GidH5046him about the matterדְּבַ֤רde.VarH1697of the kingdomהַמְּלוּכָה֙ha.me.lu.KhahH4410whichאֲשֶׁ֖ר'a.SherH834Samuelשְׁמוּאֵֽל׃ פshe.mu.'ElH8050had mentionedאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559.

17Now Samuelשְׁמוּאֵל֙she.mu.'ElH8050calledH6817thepeopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971togetherH6817to the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068at Mizpahהַמִּצְפָּֽה׃ha.mitz.PahH4709;

18and he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀vai.Yo.merH559to the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל פYis.ra.'ElH3478, “ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478saysאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559: ‘I broughtH5927Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478upH5927from Egyptמִמִּצְרָ֑יִםmi.mitz.Ra.yimH4714,and I rescuedוָאַצִּ֤ילva.'a.TzilH5337you from the handמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027of the Egyptiansמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714and from thepowerוּמִיַּד֙u.mi.YadH3027of allכָּל־kol-H3605the kingdomsהַמַּמְלָכ֔וֹתha.mam.la.KhotH4467that were oppressingהַלֹּחֲצִ֖יםha.lo.cha.TzimH3905you.’

19But todayהַיּ֜וֹםhai.YomH3117youhave rejectedמְאַסְתֶּ֣םme.'as.TemH3988your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶ֗ם'e.lo.hei.KhemH430,whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834savesמוֹשִׁ֣יעַmo.Shi.a'H3467you from allמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605your catastrophesH7463and your distressesוְצָרֹֽתֵיכֶם֒ve.tza.ro.tei.KhemH6869; yet you havesaidוַתֹּ֣אמְרוּva.To.me.ruH559, ‘NoH3808,but putתָּשִׂ֣יםta.SimH7760a kingמֶ֖לֶךְMe.lekhH4428overעָלֵ֑ינוּ'a.Lei.nuH5921us!’ Nowוְעַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH6258then,presentהִֽתְיַצְּבוּ֙hit.ya.tze.VuH3320yourselves beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068by your tribesלְשִׁבְטֵיכֶ֖םle.shiv.tei.KhemH7626and by yourgroupsH505ofH505thousandsH505.”

20So Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֔לshe.mu.'ElH8050broughtH7126allכָּל־kol-H3605the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֣יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478forwardH7126;and the tribeשֵׁ֥בֶטShe.vetH7626of Benjaminבִּנְיָמִֽן׃bin.ya.MinH1144was selectedH3920byH3920lotוַיִּלָּכֵ֖דvai.yi.la.KhedH3920.

21Then he broughtH7126the tribeשֵׁ֤בֶטShe.vetH7626of Benjaminבִּנְיָמִן֙bin.ya.MinH1144forwardH7126by its familiesלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔יוle.mish.pe.cho.tovH4940,and the Matriteהַמַּטְרִ֑יha.mat.RiH4309familyמִשְׁפַּ֣חַתmish.Pa.chatH4940was selectedH3920byH3920lotוַתִּלָּכֵ֖דva.ti.la.KhedH3920.And Saulשָׁא֣וּלsha.'UlH7586the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Kishקִ֔ישׁKishH7027was selectedH3920byH3920lotוַיִּלָּכֵד֙vai.yi.la.KhedH3920;but when they lookedH1245forH1245him, he could not be foundנִמְצָֽא׃nim.Tza'H4672.

22Thereforethey inquiredוַיִּשְׁאֲלוּ־vai.yish.'a.lu-H7592furtherעוֹד֙'OdH5750of the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֔הba.Yah.wehH3068: “Has the manאִ֑ישׁ ס'IshH376comeהֲבָ֥אha.Va'H935hereהֲלֹ֣םha.LomH1988yetע֖וֹדodH5750?”And the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Beholdהִנֵּה־hi.neh-H2009,he is hidingנֶחְבָּ֖אnech.Ba'H2244himselfה֥וּאhu'H1931amongאֶל־'el-H413the baggageהַכֵּלִֽים׃ha.ke.LimH3627.”

23So they ranוַיָּרֻ֙צוּ֙vai.ya.Ru.tzuH7323and tookוַיִּקָּחֻ֣הוּvai.yi.ka.Chu.huH3947him from thereמִשָּׁ֔םmi.ShamH8033,and when he stoodוַיִּתְיַצֵּ֖בvai.yit.ya.TzevH3320amongבְּת֣וֹךְbe.TokhH8432the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971,he wasH1361tallerH1361thanH4480anyמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605of the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971from his shouldersמִשִּׁכְמ֖וֹmi.shikh.MoH7926upwardוָמָֽעְלָה׃va.Ma.'e.lahH4605.

24Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֜לshe.mu.'ElH8050saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971, “Do you seeהַרְּאִיתֶם֙ha.re.'i.TemH7200himwhomאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068has chosenבָּֽחַר־ba.char-H977?Surelyכִּ֛יkiH3588thereH369isH369noH369oneH369likeכָּמֹ֖הוּka.Mo.huH3644him among allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971.”So allכָל־khol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971shoutedוַיָּרִ֧עוּvai.ya.Ri.'uH7321and saidוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “Longliveיְחִ֥יye.ChiH2421the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ פha.Me.lekhH4428!”

25Then Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֜לshe.mu.'ElH8050toldוַיְדַבֵּ֨רvay.da.BerH1696the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971the ordinancesמִשְׁפַּ֣טmish.PatH4941of the kingdomהַמְּלֻכָ֔הha.me.lu.KhahH4410,and wroteוַיִּכְתֹּ֣בvai.yikh.ToH3789themin the bookבַּסֵּ֔פֶרba.Se.ferH5612, andplacedוַיַּנַּ֖חvai.ya.NachH5117itbeforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.And Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֛לshe.mu.'ElH8050sentH7971allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971awayוַיְשַׁלַּ֧חvay.sha.LachH7971,eachH376oneH376to his houseלְבֵיתֽוֹ׃le.vei.ToH1004.

26Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586alsoוְגַ֨ם־ve.Gam-H1571wentהָלַ֥ךְha.LakhH1980to his houseלְבֵית֖וֹle.vei.ToH1004in Gibeahגִּבְעָ֑תָהgiv.'A.tahH1390;and the valiantהַחַ֕יִלha.Cha.yilH2428menwhoseאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834heartsבְּלִבָּֽם׃be.li.BamH3820Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430had touchedנָגַ֥עna.Ga'H5060wentוַיֵּלְכ֣וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980with him.

27But certainuselessבְלִיַּ֣עַלve.li.Ya.'alH1100menוּבְנֵ֧יu.ve.NeiH1121saidאָמְר֗וּ'a.me.RuH559, “Howמַה־mah-H4100can thisH2088oneזֶ֔הZehH2088saveיֹּשִׁעֵ֙נוּ֙yo.shi.'E.nuH3467us?” And they despisedוַיִּבְזֻ֕הוּvai.yiv.Zu.huH959him anddid not bringהֵבִ֥יאוּhe.Vi.'uH935him a giftמִנְחָ֑הmin.ChahH4503. Buthe keptH2790silentכְּמַחֲרִֽישׁ׃ פke.ma.cha.RishH2790about it.
