2When thou art departedH3212from meמֵעִמָּדִ֔יme.'i.ma.DiH5978to dayהַיּוֹם֙hai.yOmH3117,then thou shalt findוּמָצָאתָ֩u.ma.tza.TaH4672twoשְׁנֵ֨יshe.NeiH8147menאֲנָשִׁ֜ים'a.na.ShimH582by Rachel’sרָחֵ֛לra.ChelH7354sepulchreקְבֻרַ֥תke.vu.RatH6900in the borderבִּגְב֥וּלbig.VulH1366of Benjaminבִּנְיָמִ֖ןbin.ya.MinH1144at Zelzahבְּצֶלְצַ֑חbe.tzel.TzachH6766;and they will sayוְאָמְר֣וּve.'a.me.RuH559unto thee, The assesהָאֲתֹנוֹת֙ha.'a.to.nOtH860which thou wentestH1980to seekלְבַקֵּ֔שׁle.va.KeshH1245are foundנִמְצְא֤וּnim.tze.'UH4672:and, lo, thy fatherאָבִ֙יךָ֙'a.Vi.khaH1hath leftנָטַ֤שׁna.TashH5203the careדִּבְרֵ֣יdiv.ReiH1697of the assesהָאֲתֹנ֔וֹתha.'a.to.NotH860,and sorrowethוְדָאַ֤גve.da.'AgH1672for you, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559,What shall I doאֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה'e.'e.SehH6213for my sonלִבְנִֽי׃liv.NiH1121?

5Afterאַ֣חַר'A.charH310that thou shalt comeתָּבוֹא֙ta.Vo'H935to the hillH1389of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430, where isthe garrisonנְצִבֵ֣יne.tzi.VeiH5333of the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֑יםfe.lish.TimH6430:and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thitherכְבֹאֲךָ֨khe.vo.'a.KhaH935to the cityהָעִ֗ירha.'IrH5892,that thou shalt meetוּפָגַעְתָּ֞u.fa.ga'.TaH6293a companyחֶ֤בֶלChe.velH2256of prophetsנְבִיאִים֙ne.vi.'ImH5030coming downיֹרְדִ֣יםyo.re.DimH3381from the high placeמֵֽהַבָּמָ֔הme.ha.ba.MahH1116with a psalteryנֵ֤בֶלNe.velH5035,and a tabretוְתֹף֙ve.TofH8596,and a pipeוְחָלִ֣ילve.cha.LilH2485,and a harpוְכִנּ֔וֹרve.khi.NorH3658,beforeוְלִפְנֵיהֶ֞םve.lif.nei.HemH6440them; and they shall prophesyמִֽתְנַבְּאִֽים׃Mit.na.be.'ImH5012:

6And the Spiritר֣וּחַRu.achH7307of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068will comeוְצָלְחָ֤הve.tza.le.ChahH6743upon thee, and thou shalt prophesyוְהִתְנַבִּ֖יתָve.hit.na.Bi.taH5012with them, and shalt be turnedוְנֶהְפַּכְתָּ֖ve.neh.pakh.TaH2015into anotherאַחֵֽר׃'a.CherH312manלְאִ֥ישׁle.'IshH376.

7And let it be, when these signsהָאֹת֥וֹתha.'o.TotH226are comeתָבֹ֛אנָהte.vo.'ei.nahH935unto thee, thatthou doעֲשֵׂ֤ה'a.SehH6213as occasionתִּמְצָ֣אtim.Tza'H4672serveיָדֶ֔ךָya.De.khaH3027thee; for Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430is with thee.

8And thou shalt go downוְיָרַדְתָּ֣ve.ya.rad.TaH3381beforeלְפָנַי֮le.fa.NaiH6440me to Gilgalהַגִּלְגָּל֒ha.gil.GalH1537;and, behold, I will come downיֹרֵ֣דyo.RedH3381unto thee, to offerלְהַעֲל֣וֹתle.ha.'a.LotH5927burnt offeringsעֹל֔וֹתo.LotH5930, andto sacrificeלִזְבֹּ֖חַliz.Bo.achH2076sacrificesזִבְחֵ֣יziv.CheiH2077of peace offeringsשְׁלָמִ֑יםshe.la.MimH8002:sevenשִׁבְעַ֨תshiv.'AtH7651daysיָמִ֤יםya.MimH3117shalt thou tarryתּוֹחֵל֙to.ChelH3176,till I comeבּוֹאִ֣יbo.'IH935to thee, and shewוְהוֹדַעְתִּ֣יve.ho.da'.TiH3045thee what thou shalt doתַּעֲשֶֽׂה׃ta.'a.SehH6213.

9And it was so,that when he had turnedכְּהַפְנֹת֤וֹke.haf.no.ToH6437his backשִׁכְמוֹ֙shikh.MoH7926to goH3212from Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֔לshe.mu.'ElH8050,Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430gaveוַיַּהֲפָךְ־vai.ya.ha.fokh-H2015him anotherאַחֵ֑ר'a.CherH312heartלֵ֣בlevH3820:and all those signsהָאֹת֥וֹתha.'o.TotH226cameוַיָּבֹ֛אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to pass that dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117.

10And when they cameוַיָּבֹ֤אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935thither to the hillH1389,behold, a companyחֶֽבֶל־che.vel-H2256of prophetsנְבִאִ֖יםne.vi.'ImH5030metH7125him; and the Spiritר֣וּחַRu.achH7307of Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430cameוַתִּצְלַ֤חva.titz.LachH6743upon him, and he prophesiedוַיִּתְנַבֵּ֖אvai.yit.na.Be'H5012amongבְּתוֹכָֽם׃be.to.KhamH8432them.

11And it came to pass, when all that knewיֽוֹדְעוֹ֙yod.'OH3045him beforetimeמֵאִתְּמ֣וֹל שִׁלְשׁ֔וֹםme.'i.te.Mol shil.ShomH8032 H865sawוַיִּרְא֕וּvai.yir.'UH7200that, behold, he prophesiedנִבָּ֑אni.Ba'H5012among the prophetsנְבִאִ֖יםne.vi.'ImH5030,then the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559oneאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376to anotherרֵעֵ֗הוּre.'E.huH7453, What is this thatis come unto the sonלְבֶן־le.ven-H1121of Kishקִ֔ישׁKishH7027? IsSaulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586also among the prophetsבַּנְּבִיאִֽים׃ba.ne.vi.'ImH5030?

12And oneאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of the same place answeredוַיַּ֨עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030and saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, But who istheir fatherאֲבִיהֶ֑ם'a.vi.HemH1?Therefore it became a proverbלְמָשָׁ֔לle.ma.ShalH4912, IsSaulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586also among the prophetsבַּנְּבִאִֽים׃ba.ne.vi.'ImH5030?

13And when he had made an endוַיְכַל֙vay.KhalH3615of prophesyingמֵֽהִתְנַבּ֔וֹתme.hit.na.BotH5012,he cameוַיָּבֹ֖אvai.ya.Vo'H935to the high placeהַבָּמָֽה׃ha.ba.MahH1116.

14And Saul’sשָׁא֥וּלsha.'UlH7586uncleדּ֨וֹדDodH1730saidוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559unto him and to his servantנַעֲר֖וֹna.'a.RoH5288,Whitherאָ֣ן'anH575wentהֲלַכְתֶּ֑םha.lakh.TemH1980ye? And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,To seekלְבַקֵּשׁ֙le.va.KeshH1245the assesהָ֣אֲתֹנ֔וֹתha.'a.to.NotH860:and when we sawוַנִּרְאֶ֣הva.nir.'EhH7200that they wereno whereאַ֔יִן'A.yinH369,we cameוַנָּב֖וֹאva.na.Vo'H935to Samuelשְׁמוּאֵֽל׃she.mu.'ElH8050.

15And Saul’sשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586uncleדּ֣וֹדDodH1730saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Tellהַגִּֽידָה־ha.gi.dah-H5046me, I pray thee, what Samuelשְׁמוּאֵֽל׃she.mu.'ElH8050saidאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559unto you.

16And Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto his uncleדּוֹד֔וֹdo.DoH1730,He toldהַגֵּ֤דha.GedH5046us plainlyהִגִּיד֙hi.GidH5046that the assesהָאֲתֹנ֑וֹתha.'a.to.NotH860were foundנִמְצְא֖וּnim.tze.'UH4672.But of the matterדְּבַ֤רde.VarH1697of the kingdomהַמְּלוּכָה֙ha.me.lu.KhahH4410,whereof Samuelשְׁמוּאֵֽל׃ פshe.mu.'ElH8050spakeאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559,he toldהִגִּ֣ידhi.GidH5046him not.

17And Samuelשְׁמוּאֵל֙she.mu.'ElH8050calledוַיַּצְעֵ֤קvai.yatz.'EkH6817the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971together unto the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068to Mizpehהַמִּצְפָּֽה׃ha.mitz.PahH4709;

18And saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀vai.Yo.merH559unto the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל פYis.ra.'ElH3478,Thus saithאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,I brought upהֶעֱלֵ֥יתִיhe.'e.Lei.tiH5927Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478out of Egyptמִמִּצְרָ֑יִםmi.mitz.Ra.yimH4714,and deliveredוָאַצִּ֤ילva.'a.TzilH5337you out of the handמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027of the Egyptiansמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,and out of the handוּמִיַּד֙u.mi.YadH3027of all kingdomsהַמַּמְלָכ֔וֹתha.mam.la.KhotH4467, andof them that oppressedהַלֹּחֲצִ֖יםha.lo.cha.TzimH3905you:

Now therefore presentהִֽתְיַצְּבוּ֙hit.ya.tze.VuH3320yourselves beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068by your tribesלְשִׁבְטֵיכֶ֖םle.shiv.tei.KhemH7626,and by your thousandsוּלְאַלְפֵיכֶֽם׃u.le.'al.fei.KhemH505.

20And when Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֔לshe.mu.'ElH8050had caused all the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֣יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478to come nearוַיַּקְרֵ֣בvai.yak.RevH7126,the tribeשֵׁ֥בֶטShe.vetH7626of Benjaminבִּנְיָמִֽן׃bin.ya.MinH1144was takenוַיִּלָּכֵ֖דvai.yi.la.KhedH3920.

21When he had caused the tribeשֵׁ֤בֶטShe.vetH7626of Benjaminבִּנְיָמִן֙bin.ya.MinH1144to come nearוַיַּקְרֵ֞בvai.yak.RevH7126by their familiesלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔יוle.mish.pe.cho.tovH4940,the familyמִשְׁפַּ֣חַתmish.Pa.chatH4940of Matriהַמַּטְרִ֑יha.mat.RiH4309was takenוַתִּלָּכֵ֖דva.ti.la.KhedH3920,and Saulשָׁא֣וּלsha.'UlH7586the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Kishקִ֔ישׁKishH7027was takenוַיִּלָּכֵד֙vai.yi.la.KhedH3920:and when they soughtוַיְבַקְשֻׁ֖הוּvay.vak.Shu.huH1245him, he could not be foundנִמְצָֽא׃nim.Tza'H4672.

22Therefore they enquiredוַיִּשְׁאֲלוּ־vai.yish.'a.lu-H7592of the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֔הba.Yah.wehH3068further, if the manאִ֑ישׁ ס'IshH376should yet comeהֲבָ֥אha.Va'H935thitherהֲלֹ֣םha.LomH1988.And the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Behold, he hath hidנֶחְבָּ֖אnech.Ba'H2244himself among the stuffהַכֵּלִֽים׃ha.ke.LimH3627.

23And they ranוַיָּרֻ֙צוּ֙vai.ya.Ru.tzuH7323and fetchedוַיִּקָּחֻ֣הוּvai.yi.ka.Chu.huH3947him thence: and when he stoodוַיִּתְיַצֵּ֖בvai.yit.ya.TzevH3320amongבְּת֣וֹךְbe.TokhH8432the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971,he was higherוַיִּגְבַּהּ֙vai.yig.BahH1361than any of the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971from his shouldersמִשִּׁכְמ֖וֹmi.shikh.MoH7926and upwardוָמָֽעְלָה׃va.Ma.'e.lahH4605.

24And Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֜לshe.mu.'ElH8050saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to all the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971,Seeהַרְּאִיתֶם֙ha.re.'i.TemH7200ye him whom the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068hath chosenבָּֽחַר־ba.char-H977, that there isnone like him among all the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971?And all the peopleהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971shoutedוַיָּרִ֧עוּvai.ya.Ri.'uH7321,and saidוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559,God saveיְחִ֥יye.ChiH2421the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ פha.Me.lekhH4428.

25Then Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֜לshe.mu.'ElH8050toldוַיְדַבֵּ֨רvay.da.BerH1696the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971the mannerמִשְׁפַּ֣טmish.PatH4941of the kingdomהַמְּלֻכָ֔הha.me.lu.KhahH4410,and wroteוַיִּכְתֹּ֣בvai.yikh.ToH3789itin a bookבַּסֵּ֔פֶרba.Se.ferH5612, and laid itupH3240beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.And Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֛לshe.mu.'ElH8050sentH7971all the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971awayוַיְשַׁלַּ֧חvay.sha.LachH7971,every manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376to his houseלְבֵיתֽוֹ׃le.vei.ToH1004.

26And Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586also wentH1980homeלְבֵית֖וֹle.vei.ToH1004to Gibeahגִּבְעָ֑תָהgiv.'A.tahH1390;and there wentH3212with him a band of menהַחַ֕יִלha.Cha.yilH2428,whose heartsבְּלִבָּֽם׃be.li.BamH3820Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430had touchedנָגַ֥עna.Ga'H5060.

27But the childrenוּבְנֵ֧יu.ve.NeiH1121of Belialבְלִיַּ֣עַלve.li.Ya.'alH1100saidאָמְר֗וּ'a.me.RuH559,How shall this man saveיֹּשִׁעֵ֙נוּ֙yo.shi.'E.nuH3467us? And they despisedוַיִּבְזֻ֕הוּvai.yiv.Zu.huH959him, and broughtהֵבִ֥יאוּhe.Vi.'uH935him no presentsמִנְחָ֑הmin.ChahH4503.But he held his peaceכְּמַחֲרִֽישׁ׃ פke.ma.cha.RishH2790.
